Bound To Evil

Chapter 93 - The appetizers (2)

What Lazar had seen and shown Amandla was a group of soldiers stationed on the roof of a bar who, like them, seemed to be scouting the area around the TD Garden. Seen from this angle it sounded like good news since technically their two groups could cooperate, however, it wasn't as simple as it seemed...

Indeed, he could only imagine what kind of murderous thoughts must be racing through Amandla's head after she realized that the woman who had tried to kill her when they had come here last night was part of this group, 'And yet, this isn't the most worrying thing.' He thought apprehensively, having the conviction that something was wrong with this group of soldiers.

When he had told Amandla that they were going to discuss with these soldiers before slightly implying that they would decide together what they would do with them afterwards and all of that without mentioning the serious suspicions he had about this group, there was an ulterior motive behind it...

He wanted to see if she would accept his decision right away, blinded by the potential opportunity to return the favor to the woman who had tried to kill her, or if she would try to determine by herself whether or not it was a good idea to make contact with this group of soldiers, even if it meant giving up this opportunity of revenge if she came to the conclusion that it would be dangerous to try, the goal behind this for Lazar being to determine if she was capable of making a wise decision under any circ.u.mstances.

To Lazar's delight, Amandla leaned toward the second option, "Just a sec. Let me check something." She told him while raising the index of her right hand and putting back the binoculars in front of her eyes with her other hand to observe further the soldiers...

Having already demonstrated several times that she was very observant, Lazar wasn't surprised that she quickly came to have doubts, "Don't you think it looks like a trap?" She questioned him with a frown after lowering the binoculars.

Lazar shrugged his shoulders with an air of false ignorance, "No, what makes you say that?" He asked her in response, wanting to know what details had tipped her off.

Amandla snorted, "Don't take me for dumber that I am, if I noticed it, then I'm sure you noticed it too." She answered him with a hint of confusion, clearly unsure of why he was pretending not to have seen that the situation was suspicious...

"So, what makes me say that..." She began to say to recenter their conversation while staring intently at the direction in which the soldiers were, "...Well, the location they chose isn't that good for spotting but it's a nice one if they want to be spotted; that's a big mistake professionals like them wouldn't make if they didn't want to attract attention. Also, I don't see their weapons; If they weren't already so suspicious, I wouldn't really know what to make of that information but since to me it looks like they're trying to set us into a trap, I think it's possible they've been transformed and that losing their weapons is a side effect of not beeing human anymore."

Lazar who was slightly nodding up and down throughout Amandla's argument had a satisfied look on his face, even though she hadn't noticed as many details as he had, he thought her analysis was pretty good, "They are transformed, you can be sure of that. Otherwise they wouldn't be checking if their sleeves are still hiding their forearms properly every time they make a move that brings them up." He asserted on the assumption that if they were all doing that, that was meaning that they had all been bitten at this place...

Although Lazar thought Amandla deserved credit for noticing that this group was suspicious, he thought that she didn't ask herself enough questions about what was their motivations, "It's true that they seem to want to trick us at first sight, however, I think it's more complex than it seems." He declared to express his point of view, provoking again confusion in his partner mind who was looking at him while squinting her eyes...

"Stop, you'll get wrinkles." Lazar said to her with amus.e.m.e.nt in his voice since he knew that Amandla was trying to imitate the way he had looked at her when he had seen her biting her lips while listening to the dirty talk of the Garache from earlier.

"Don't count on it, pissing you off is worth aging a little faster." Amandla answered him while chuckling before quickly regaining her seriousness...

"So... what do we do?" She calmly asked Lazar before making the binoculars disappear into her inventory.

Lazar stared into the distance for a moment before making a decision, " Get your bow out." He said to Amandla with resolve after he himself had summoned his weapon from his inventory.

Amandla nodded her head to one side, "Are you sure?" She asked, obviously seeking for reassuring words.

"Don't worry, if it's a trap we'll know in advance because of your abilities and if it's what I think it is..." He started to say as he pulled his weapon from its sheath, "...then there is a way it will benefit us."

Giulia wasn't really confident in the plan that she had set up, but she knew she could contribute to the glory of her new species and especially that she could save her pack leader from herself if everything went as expected, so she was remaining hopeful, '2 throats sliced later and Boston will be ours.' She thought excitedly as she looked proudly at the 14 Ganipotes with her who were 'former soldiers' and new members of her pack...

She felt bad for deceiving them into thinking it was their pack leader's idea to do what they were about to do, but she knew that if she revealed why she did it some of them would understand so the guilt was only fleeting when she was thinking about it.

In any case it was to late to give up, she had lied using the name of her pack leader so she had to succeed, she had to show her that Logan Walker was nothing special, that he was nothing next to her, that way, when she would come back with his head in her hands she would make her pack leader understand that what she had done wasn't an act of betrayal but an act of love to open her eyes.
