Chapter 30: Angler’s Paradise

On the next day, Nocturne logged in extra early and teleported himself to Night Town.

He made his way to Night Rose Tavern and saw Beitang Meng waiting for him.

“Am I late?” Nocturne greeted and talked to Beitang Meng.

“No, we just arrived,” Beitang Meng said.

“Mhmm? Where’s Faraway Song and Mayday?” Nocturne noticed only Wind&Rum was with Beitang Meng, the other male and female players were strangers to him.

“Blazing Valley’s monsters have high Fire Resistance and positioning is important. Faraway Song is a Fire Elemental Mage and Mayday’s mobility and healing is not as effective as a Discipline Priest, so I arranged them to explore Ice Cave instead.”

Discipline Priests had an apostolic skill that allowed the player to cast spells while moving. Power Word: Shield had no cooldown, therefore a mobile Discipline Priest had more advantage in the earlier stage.

“I see.”

“Let me introduce you to the party. This is Meowmeow Tang, a Beast Mastery Hunter; This is the Discipline Priest, ILikeDPS.”

“This is Nocturne, the one that I mentioned earlier.”

Beitang Meng did a brief introduction for both sides.

“Well then, since everyone is here, let’s party up and get going.”

Beitang Meng invited Nocturne into the party and used the dungeon scroll.

The party of five appeared in a camp and there was a campfire in front of them with several tents behind them.

Nocturne looked around and realized it was a campsite by a lake. He looked further away and saw a dense forest beyond the lake, the forest was thick enough to surround the lake.

Beside the campsite was a shop and inside the shop was a bearded middle-aged man wiping something in his hand.

“Let’s go have a look, there may be quests around.” Beitang Meng led the party to the shop when she noticed the NPC.

“Hello.” Beitang Meng attempted to talk to the man.

“Hello. Welcome to Angler’s Paradise. Let me explain the rules. Angler’s Paradise is unlike other dungeons, there are no monsters on land and all the monsters can only be fished out of the water.”

“Killing the monsters from the water will drop something called Angler’s Paradise Coin. Collect enough coins and you can exchange them for items from me.”

“Do take note that the coins you get cannot be traded and the items you exchanged will be bound to you. The dungeon duration is 10 hours. You will have an extra 20 minutes once the duration is up to exchange items with me. When the time is up, you will be teleported away and the remaining coins will be discarded. Happy fishing!” the bearded man stopped wiping and explained the rules to everyone.

Nocturne and party tapped on the shop of the NPC to check what he had to offer.

The long list of exchangeable items was overwhelming for Nocturne.

There were Small Talent Stones, Level 5 to Level 15 skill books for all classes, Level 15 class gear in sets and sets of gear for lifestyle classes.

Nocturne paid extra attention to the halo skills. He already knew about the Level 5 halo skills, Vitality, Fortitude and Meditation. Level 10 halo skills had Courage, Agility, Faith; Level 15 halo skills had Flame Purification, Frost Purification etc.

Then, there was the fishing gear set. The Old Fisherman’s set included a hat, mino, boots and the fishing rod for the set. Though the stats were almost similar to the rod that Nocturne already had.

Beitang Meng clapped to gather her party’s attention.

“Have a quick look guys, you know what you are going for. Let’s utilize the time and clear the dungeon. Nocturne, we are not familiar with fishing, can you take command?”

“Okay, follow me.”

Nocturne led the party closer to the lake. He had a quick scan of the lake and found quite a number of fishing spots, therefore he decided to bring the party to clear all the fishing spots first.

He got to a fishing spot and then started to put on his fishing gear. He skillfully put on the bait, cast the line and waited.

The party put on a cautious stance while anticipating the enemy. Meowmeow Tang even summoned her companion out, it was a fiery red panther.

A while after the line was cast, something took the bait. Nocturne felt the strength from his rod, it seemed to be a big fellow.

He had to fight it for a while before pulling it out of the water but what he got was not a fish, it was a giant crab.

The moment the monster came up, Wind&Rum cast Provoke and got its attention. The others also dished out whatever attacks they had.

Nocturne got into his combat gear and started attacking.

Soon, the giant crab was taken down.

“MeowMeow, go access the loot.” Beitang Meng noticed Wind&Rum was eager to access the loot, so she quickly told MeowMeowTang to do it.

“Okay!” MeowMeowTang happily did as told.

The coins were automatically distributed by the system, it seemed like the system did not want a single party member to hold all the coins.

“Nocturne, we will deal with the monster when it comes out of the water. It’s not that strong, so it will save us a lot of time. All you need to do is provide us with buffs and fish.”

Beitang Meng realized the monsters were not that strong and it would consume extra time if Nocturne joined the fight every time, therefore she put him on fishing duty instead.

Nocturne agreed because his DPS was as good as zero, so he might as well concentrate on fishing to save time.

He changed back into his fishing gear and happily fished.

Since there were no monsters to fight yet, the girls in the party started chatting.

“Speaking of buffs, did you guys notice there are three halo buffs on us? Our Maximum HP and Mana are also increased,” Meowmeow Tang said as she looked at Nocturne with a surprised look.

“I knew it already. It’s his talent,” Wind&Rum said as if she had seen through Nocturne long time ago.

“His talent seems awesome. He might not be useful by himself at late game but he’s great to a party,” MeowMeowTang analyzed and said.

“Mhmm, and his fishing is quite good. Guild Master, why don’t you invite him into our guild?” Wind&Rum asked Beitang Meng.

“I was planning to invite him myself after this dungeon,” Beitang Meng said.

On the other hand, Nocturne had no idea what the girls were chatting about. Something took the bait and he was pulling it up with all he got. It felt as heavy as a rock.

After fighting it for a while, he finally pulled the thing out of the water. It was a giant box, but not the usual Waterproof Box that he got, it looked more like a treasure box, just bigger.
