Chapter 329- Costumes

“I still don’t like these stiff outfits.”

Now I’m trying to fit into my outfit for the party. I thought that since I’m only going to wear it this one time anyway, I could just use my brothers’ hand-me-downs, but I’m told that’s not allowed from a nobleman’s point of view. However, it is apparently impossible to have a custom-made outfit made for me in time for the party, so they are going to modify a finished costume that is close to my size to my actual size.

“This makes it difficult to move when attacked…”

“Why do you expect to be attacked?”

Being ready to fight at any time is an essential skill for adventurers who often camp out. Well…I haven’t been a proper adventurer lately. Maybe it’s time I did….

By the way, except for the security provided by my father, bringing weapons and other items into the party venue is of course not permitted. Magic rings and other decorations are allowed, though, so I’m tacitly accepting the idea of putting a weapon inside of them. Because of this rule, I intend to wear Suiyami and Suiko on both hands in the form of bracelets. However, since they have been in the form of bracelets since my return to Adolfo’s territory, my father probably don’t even know that these bracelets are swords.

“This is the best size I’ve ever seen, and the design is pretty good, too. I think this would be my first choice.”

“Really.”

I tried on a few more after that, but in the end my first choice remained the same. So the first choice was decided to be my outfit.

The overall color of the outfit was black, and there were no conspicuous ornaments. The lack of ornaments made it a little easier to move around in than the others.

“It’s a little plain, but that’s not a problem because there are zero main characters.”

I heard it was said that this outfit is not good for the leading role, where one has to stand out. Well, this time Andrei is the star of the show. I should be in the corner or something.

“All I have to do now is wait for Sophie’s outfit fitting.”

Sophie came with me and was in a separate room for the fitting. Sophie is accompanied by my mother and I by my father.

“Zero, I’m sorry to keep you waiting.”

“Ah…yes. Good work.”

My fitting took about an hour. Sophie’s fitting took more than two hours. I had heard that it takes a long time for women to choose their outfits, but I didn’t think it would be this long. I naively thought the wait would be less than an hour.

Also, Sophie’s way of calling me was back to the old way of calling me Zero-niisama. It would have been fine if she had called me “onii-chan” in the house, but it would have been too much trouble if people had pried into my life, so she had reverted back to the way she used to call me.

“We’ll go home now and after lunch I’ll explain to you how the party is going to go.”

“Alright.”

“I understand.”

I’m more suited to living like an adventurer and killing monsters than living like an noble. Well, I’m the one who asked the goddess for a new life as a noble. Thanks to being a nobleman, I met Shana at a party, and Claudia, Elira, Bequa, Carina, and Gladden at the school. So I have no regrets at all about asking to be made a noble.

“But I do feel the need to move my body.”

“Zero-niisama?”

“No, it’s nothing.”

It is now midnight. It’s that time of night when me and Sophie left the house and entered the forest.

“Well, let’s do a light mock battle without you using devils and magic, and me without spirits, beasts, and devils with enchantments and no magic.”

“Alright.”

I was actually thinking of going into the forest by myself and defeating monsters, but Sophie would definitely get angry with me if I did that.  If Sophie was there, it would be better exercise to have a mock battle with her than to defeat weak monsters. It’s no good to be noisy too late at night near the city, so we had to remove all the causes of the fierce lead.

“Lightning double enchantment. Then, here we go!”

“Okay! Come on!”

Thus, I spent my days relaxing at home and my nights doing mock battles with Sophie in the forest.

Then came the day of the party.
