Unease and Truth 1

About five hours had passed since Alvin-sama and Owen went to Erica. We still hadn’t heard anything yet, and all we could do was wait in silence.

“Alvin-sama and the others are late.”

“If something went wrong, they would have called us to come and help.”

As night began to fall, Theo yawned and leaned back against the back of the sofa.

Theo was able to maintain such a relaxed attitude because he trusts in the strength of his friends who have fought alongside him.

I also believed in Alvin-sama and Owen, but I still couldn’t shake off my uneasiness.

“Nina, you should get some rest. If something happens to Alvin and the others, you will be the one to treat them.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Thank you.”

Lara was right, there were some things only I could do.

I sat on the couch and closed my eyes, trying to conserve my energy as much as possible, although it was unlikely that I would be able to sleep.

How much time had passed since then? Suddenly, I heard a commotion in the castle and opened my eyes.

Lara had released the wards, and Theo was gingerly stretching out his arms. On Lara’s shoulders was her familiar dragon, and it seemed to have sensed the presence of Alvin-sama and the others.

“It looks like all of them have returned. Let’s go.”

While feeling my heart beating fast, the three of us headed in the direction of the familiar. Eventually, we arrived at the medical room in the royal castle, and I had a bad feeling about the situation.

Nervously, I stepped inside and found two figures lying on the bed.

“…..!”

There was red everywhere.

Both Alvin-sama and Owen lying on the bed were bleeding heavily, and their white clothes were stained bright red. I hadn’t seen such wounds since the West Tower incident.

Both of them were unconscious, and the blood was draining from their bodies.

“Recovery Heal….!”

I quickly rushed over and put both hands together to cast recovery magic on both of them.

From the looks of it, it was clear that a fierce battle had taken place. And the opponent was also quite a powerful person.

“Nina-san….!”

A little while after, a sobbing Erica came into the room. I was relieved to see that she was okay but continued to cast healing magic.

“E-Even though the two of them saved me…. I couldn’t heal them….”

“No, it’s fine. Leave this to me, Erica, you should get some rest.”

I had heard that Erica had been practicing magic recently, but she only focused on offensive magic in preparation for subjugating the Evil Dragon.

That’s why her healing magic wasn’t enough, and why she only treated herself with potions.

Her face, which I hadn’t seen in a long time, was very pale.

Leaving Theo in charge of Erica, I decided to ask her about the details later and concentrated on the treatment.

I prayed desperately and put my magic power into it, hoping that the suffering and pain of the two of them would disappear as soon as possible.

“…. I hadn’t felt this much pain in a long time.”

After a while, Owen’s eyelids slowly opened and he spoke weakly. At the sight of his usual behavior, I felt relieved and almost slumped down on the spot.

It seemed that it was still painful to move around, so Owen only turned his crimson eyes toward me.

“Thanks, Nina. The wound seems to have closed up thanks to your help. I’m still a little dizzy from all the blood though.”

“Good. You still need to rest.”

Alvin-sama hadn’t yet regained consciousness and I listened to Owen’s voice while continuing to apply healing magic.

“…. It was that man who attacked Erica this time.”

With just the mention of “that man,” I immediately understood who he was talking about. The man who killed me once.

Although my body stiffened just by that, I tried to keep my composure so as not to worry Owen.

“But don’t worry, I’ve already killed him…. Well, it looks like we didn’t kill him properly though.”

“…. Why can’t we kill him?”

Even when I alongside Erica was attacked at the last event, Alvin-sama had undoubtedly cut off and crushed his head, yet the man’s voice said, “See you later.”

Since he targeted Erica again, peace would never come to us unless we completely killed that man.

Most importantly, we couldn’t leave a man who was strong enough to inflict such deep wounds on the two of them, and with such cruelty, be left unchecked.

Anyway, as soon as Alvin-sama recovered, we would need to take another countermeasure.

I rolled up the sleeves of Alvin-sama’s bright red clothes to check his arms, wondering if all the wounds had been closed by now.

“──Eh?”

And I was speechless.

I immediately checked his legs and abdomen, but the result was the same. My mind went blank with confusion and frustration.

“W-Why…”

For some reason, my recovery magic had little effect on Alvin-sama.
