Final Battle 2

I really wanted to just get out of there, and I was supposed to. Just being in the same space as that man, my throat tightened and I couldn’t breathe properly. My hands trembled and my vision blurred.

But I knew there was something I could do, something only I could do.

“I’ll fight, too.”

Erica clenched her hands tightly, a serious expression on her face. Owen looked like he wanted to say something else, but eventually sagged his shoulders.

“…. I have no choice, do I? I’ll scold you later.”

“Thanks.”

After taking a few deep breaths, I turned my hands toward everyone and added more spells.

“Total Recovery Restoration.”

“Holy Shield.”

Everyone’s body was enveloped in a dazzling light, and their injuries healed in an instant.

“Ability Increase Overall.”

Next to me, Erica cast her enhancement magic. Even though she mistakenly cast enhancement magic instead of purification magic when we first met, it was now actually her strongest spell.

With the physical recovery, increased defense, and increased ability spell, it should be easier to fight.

However, as expected, it seemed that magic wasn’t effective on Alvin-sama. Still, I pushed through and poured out my magical power frantically, even though I knew I would probably be scolded later.

Casting multiple spells on four people at the same time consumed a lot of stamina and mana. I wiped the sweat off my face and continued to hold my ground.

“Uwaa, that’s not fair. I knew I should have killed the Saintess first.”

“Shut up.”

Alvin-sama muttered fiercely and fired a blow at the man’s throat.

The man dodged it at the last minute and slashed Alvin-sama’s shoulder. Although Alvin-sama also instantly avoided the cut, his skin and flesh melted just by the touch of the jet-black sword’s tip.

“….”

I immediately cast a recovery spell on Alvin-sama. It took a little time, but the wound was healed and I inwardly patted my chest.

The man’s movements had long exceeded human limits.

It was a miracle that Alvin-sama and everyone else was able to keep up with him. However, if this situation dragged on, our strength and magic would continue to be consumed.

The battle continued with no time to breathe.

No matter how many wounds we inflicted on the man, they weren’t fatal. At this rate, we wouldn’t get anywhere if we continued like this. Although I managed to heal each injury and no one was seriously hurt, I could see that we were all approaching our limits.

It would take a strong blow to change the situation, a blow that would decide the fight. Everyone was aware of this, yet we were forced to focus on the attack in front of us.

If we took our gaze off the man in front of us, someone would die.

In the midst of all this, Alvin-sama opened his mouth.

“Just for one minute, do your best to stop that thing in its tracks. I’ll finish it off.”

“…. What, you’re not going to die all of a sudden, are you?”

“No way.”

Alvin-sama laughed, but like Lara, I couldn’t help but have a bad feeling.

“To be honest, I’m really tired, but I can at least hold him back for a while. You sure you’re going to be all right?”

“Yeah. It’ll be absolutely fine.”

“…..”

I understood what Alvin-sama, who nodded with a confident expression, was trying to do.

──He intended to sacrifice himself and used the power he had acquired through forbidden magic.

He must know that the more he used that power, the more his body would be eaten away and his life reduced.

“Alvin, wait!”

Both Owen and Dirk, who knew what was going on, must have guessed. Alvin-sama shook his head slightly, as if his mind was already made up.

“You know we’re all going to die if we don’t do something about it.”

“But that doesn’t mean that Alvin-sama should be sacrificed!”

I was a little far away from him, but I released my own defensive magic and rushed to Alvin-sama.

Even if we defeated the bug and get the reward item, it would be too late if Alvin-sama had lost his life at that point.

I pleaded with him that there must be another way, but he wouldn’t listen to me.

“It’s better than Nina dying.”

Alvin-sama spoke firmly and touched my cheek.

“And I don’t intend to die either. I believe in the power of my friends.”

Hearing Alvin-sama’s words, Theo’s hand slipped, and the arrow that was shot grazed Owen’s hair.

Still, Theo didn’t utter a word of apology, and there were no words of condemnation from Owen either.

Everyone couldn’t hide their surprise at hearing the word “believe” come out of Alvin-sama’s mouth.
