What are the elements? What are they like? Or what is magic in general? Well, now you can read more about it! Here's a quick rundown on what the elements and magic power are like…

(All of this is subject to change.)

----------------------

Magic Power:

Magic Power is the main component used by those in the magic arts, also known as energy. It is one's ability to channel and transmute magic into a physical force. It can naturally be restored by resting.

---------------

Contracting:

In certain cases, Magic Power can also be shared between 2 people. To Nekomata, it is called a contracting ceremony. To the Elves, it's a bonding ceremony.

Magic:

It is also a main component used by those in the magic arts, sometimes referred to as just power. There are many theories as to where Magic comes from.

Magic can also be used for everyday things, known as Utility Magic. Utility Magic is magic that has been channeled into a gem. A notable example are lamps. The higher quality of a gem, such as a diamond, can channel even more powerful magic.

Rubies are considered the "Universal Gem" for it's cost, availability, and effectiveness.

---------------

The Elements:

Magic is divided into subgroups, known as the elements. There are currently 7 known elements:

The Trinity: 3 basic, very popular and universal elements, Earth, Fire, and Water.

1 manufactured element, Frost

2 elements with unknown properties, Nature and Spirit

And the infamous Holy and Dark elements used almost exclusively by High Elves and Demons respectively.

and others that'll be discovered as story progresses. (To hide any potential spoilers.)

---

Dark:

The element of the night. The rarest, hardest to learn, and most dangerous of the elements known. It is widely used by powerful Demons such as Lilith. It can make the user invisible, unseen by the n.a.k.e.d eye. Though it's the element of the night, it cannot control shadows by itself. Most of its spells require an incantation or a Grimoire. Much more powerful spells require a blood sacrifice.

It was discovered to have it's own realm in Volume 4.

It cannot be used by High Elves.

---

The element of rocks and dirt. It is the easiest of the elements to learn, but has limited applications. It's main application is terraforming and construction. The only element to not have any known incantations. It is also illegal to use in Ostroven and Phia because it has the potential to destroy forests, plants, and displace wildlife. It makes up the "Trinity" along with Fire and Water.

---

Fire:

The element of flames. It is the easier elements to learn and most widely used. Because it can create light, it is widely used for creating lamps. It can also be used as pyrotechnics and explosion magic. Illegal to use in developed cities and a majority of settlements. It makes up the "Trinity" along with Earth and Water.

---

Holy:

The element of the heavens, also known as Light magic. The one of the hardest to learn and dangerous, second to the dark element. It is the element of choice by Ostroven and it's armies. It can burn impurities, purify waters, heal others, and throw spears of light.

It cannot be used by Demons.

---

The element of the cold. It's believed to have gone extinct. An element held almost exclusively by the ageless Wights, making them very deadly in battle. It's dangerous magic blowback can cause the wielder to suffer from frostbite.

---

Water:

The element of the sea. It's the second easiest to learn and used by sailors and Navies. It can use humidity in the air to create water, create ocean waves and even rain.

It makes up the "Trinity" along with Earth and Fire.

---

Wind:

The invisible element. Is considered to be dangerous because of it. An easy-to-learn but difficult-to-master type of element. Since it's invisible, beginning users will usually have a hard time getting their aim right. It's effectiveness as a Utility Magic has been explored in volume 4.

-

The element of the flora. A fairy-only element that allows them to control a large variety of plants. It was discovered in the 4th volume.

---

Frost:

An alternative form of Ice, it was discovered in the spin-off: "ItsuYaku: Since When Was I Engaged To The Heiress?!" Being one of the founders of the element, Rayna is originally the only person in the world with knowledge of the element.

---

Spirit:

The (not so) element of the paranormal. It allows it's users to contact the deceased. A very rare and extremely dangerous element, almost nothing is factually known about it. Nowhere in history books, no known student or teacher. Only obscure myths and legends.

It is discovered in volume 4.

---

Blood:

A form (more of a "subclass") of Dark magic. They are spells that require a blood sacrifice, such as Shadow Leap. Illegal and stigmatized in almost every culture, including Demon culture. Secretly used by Hei'an' Zhi Guo's Royal Family. Not recognized as it's own form of magic, it was coined by Steven in volume 4.
