LFTMPH Chapter 58- Recovering Thanks to Steamed Buns Part 1

Translated by Snowfall77

The [Jinjiang Buns] actually seemed to work as advertised.

After eating them all, Xia Ge took a nap.  Upon waking up, she felt bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Therefore, when Gu Peijiu came in carrying breakfast, she found that the boy who’d should have been recovering whilst laying down, was instead sitting at the side of the bed. Wrapped in a blanket, with his bare feet dangling out the bottom, he had a deeply bored expression on his face.

“Good morning, Senior Sister.”

Xia Ge abruptly became all smiles: “Looks like it’s going to be another great day.”

Ha, what?  Are you going to ask me to pull your finger next?  Nevermind, the older a person gets, the less they fret over some things.  Gu Peijiu didn’t answer Xia Ge’s words……choosing to act like she hadn’t heard them.

Gu Peijiu had changed into fresh clothes, and she again noticed Xia Wuyin’s bare feet, not quite reaching the floor thanks to his short legs.  Hesitating for a moment, Gu Peijiu finally spoke: “Put on your socks.”

Wronged, Xia Ge protested: “Sister Bixi took my socks away yesterday and now I have nothing to wear……she even tried to take my pants!”

Xia Ge hadn’t cared about her socks at that time, it’d been keeping hold of her pants that’d been imperative.  Luckily, Bixi hadn’t really wanted them anymore than Xia Ge had wanted to let them go.  So, in the end, Bixi had satisfied herself with a sniff of disgust and the socks.

Gu Peijiu: “……she didn’t bring a change of clothes for you?”

Xia Ge: “No, she didn’t!”

The second after Xia Ge said that, a cranky-looking Bixi appeared and plopped a clean outer disciple ensemble on the bed: “Miss asked me to bring you a change of clothes yesterday and I’ve brought it now.”

“Thank you,” Xia Ge lowered her gaze, “I’ve troubled you.”

“You should thank your Senior Sister,” Bixi retorted.

Xia Ge was the very picture of well-mannered compliance: “Thank you, Senior Sister.”

Seeing that Bixi had nothing further to add, Gu Peijiu was considerate, saying: “Bixi, you may leave first.”

“Yes.”

Bixi left the room and a cheerful Xia Ge gathered the new, clean clothes into her arms: “You’re very kind, Senior Sister.”

Gu Peijiu’s tone was indifferent: “You’ve apparently recovered a great deal, do your injuries not pain you anymore?”

“I guess I heal quickly,” Xia Ge grinned, “Cause my wounds aren’t hurting right now.”

A small frown furrowed Gu Peijiu’s brow: “Even if your injuries aren’t hurting, you still shouldn’t be moving around carelessly.”

“Mm……”  Xia Ge became lost in her thoughts for a moment, then asked: “Senior Sister, Ye Ze……has he already gone to Jianfeng?”

“Yes, he has,” Gu Peijiu, “He did want to visit you, but the process of going over to a different peak is complicated.  I suppose he must have run out of time.”

Xia Ge: “Oh……I see.”

Senior Sister’s white and red dress was characteristically immaculate, making yesterday’s blood-stained outfit seem like an illusion.

——‘Rest.’

——‘Danfeng disciples must be trustworthy.’

Both Xia Ge’s hands and mouth imperceptibly tightened: “Senior Sister?”

“Yes?”

“I did go to the back mountain,” Xia Ge looked Gu Peijiu straight in the face, “Punish me for my wrongdoing.”

Gu Peijiu’s face was cold: “Is that all?”

Xia Ge: “Um……that jade isn’t a family heirloom, I planned for it to be a parting gift for Ye Ze.”

About to say more, Xia Ge stopped when she saw Gu Peijiu retrieve a very familiar Guilongyu from a sleeve.

Guilongyu……lacking its right corner and rather fierce-looking.  Yet to Xia Ge’s eyes, its appearance was like that of an old friend.

“Go on.”  Gu Peijiu elegantly hooked a chair and seated herself with the air of one settling down for a very long chat, the jade in her hand giving off a soft, warm glow.  “Why did you go to the back mountain?”

Xia Ge: “……”

Aren’t you committing a foul?!

“I……went to find Liuli trees.”  Xia Ge crumbled under pressure.  If she had to confess, might as well account for what needed to be accounted for.

“And the injuries on your body?”  Gu Peijiu arched a perfect eyebrow.

As for that, Xia Ge had no answer.  Lowering her head, she clenched at the blanket, saying nothing.

“Why aren’t you speaking?”  Gu Peijiu asked apathetically.

“You don’t believe me……and I don’t want to lie to you,” Xia Ge’s voice was very low, “That’s why……I don’t have anything else to say.”

The morning sun shone in through the window.

In front of Xia Ge’s bowed head, another hand appeared.

It had 5 slender fingers, pale as winter snow, and the thumb held a dragon-shaped jade in its soft palm.  Xia Ge couldn’t differentiate what was more beautiful, the jade or the hand.

After being frozen for a couple seconds, Xia Ge recovered herself, lifting her head to meet Gu Peijiu’s eyes.

Senior Sister’s gaze was crystal clear and cold: “Take it.”

Pursing her lips, Xia Ge made no move.

“You’ve been hurt,” Gu Peijiu’s tone remained neutral, “It’s alright if you don’t want to say how, it’s nothing to do with me anyways.”

“But take the jade……and then reflect on yourself at Siguo Pavilion while you copy the Danxun 30 times.”

Xia Ge reached out a hand and took Guilongyu from Gu Peijiu’s  grasp.

Gu Peijiu thought the boy’s hand very small, matching his thin and frail figure.  As the boy slowly took the jade, his fingertips rubbed against Gu Peijiu’s palm, tickling it.

“……thank you.”

“No need to thank me,” Gu Peijiu calmly withdrew her hand, “As I said, Ye Ze has already gone to Jianfeng.  If you want to see him, you’ll have to go to Jianfeng personally.”

The vestige of an ice-cold touch lingered on her palm.

The boy’s hands still must be very chilled.
