Before Xia Ge could use her sickle to block, the sword blade was within reach of her, a harsh chill almost grazing her neck.  Yet a small red ribbon suddenly sprang out and interlaced with itself to become a blood-red spider web, spreading out to protect Xia Ge’s body.  When the sword’s blade hit the red spiderweb, sparks flew, and the black figure made an ‘yi’ sound.  As the blade cut into the spider web, innumerable crimson strips launched out, simultaneously wrapping around the sword, and striking out for the black figure’s head!

Realizing they were in a bad situation, the black figure made a movement with their left hand, and their sword once again burst with ice, freezing the red strands around it, as well as the strips aiming for their body.  Then the ice cracked, the red ribbon freed, even as the sword instantly pulled back from the mass of red ribbon!

Freeze the red ribbon to get free of it?

Everything was happening too fast.  By the time Xia Ge could react, the black figure was already moving away.

They’d bluffed like a yowling dog?  What kind of Demon Sect elite would fucking back off?

Still, the red ribbon seemed glad to be rid of the black figure.  Xia Ge comforted it, letting it shrink back to wrap around her wrist that was holding the sickle before chasing after the black figure. However, a sudden cold wind made the back of Xia Ge’s neck shiver.  Instinctively dodging, Xia Ge saw a sickle blade almost identical to her own slashing the Wutong tree behind her in half!

Fuck, it was another demon puppet!

The severed Wutong tree toppling over onto the bamboo house’s roof, the demon puppet didn’t let a missed blow slow it down.  It turned its sickle in its hand, slashing at Xia Ge again!

Rank B demon puppets really knew how to use their weapons!  Xia Ge figured she probably wouldn’t be nabbing another sickle anytime soon.

The opponent’s sickle was fierce and fast, giving Xia Ge barely enough time to avoid.  Blocking again, Xia Ge felt an instantaneous, yet wonderous feeling from her wrist——

……power.

The strength to pull out mountains and the power to surpass the world……such strength was definitely not a problem.

Clang——

Xia Ge put some might behind her sickle, and violent sparks erupted.  With one stroke, the demon puppet’s sickle blade was obliterated, and the puppet was sent violently flying back into the air!

Eyes wide, Xia Ge looked down at the red ribbon wrapped around her wrist.

No……not just a red ribbon anymore.

Delicate veins of gold had spread throughout the ribbon, and its two tails were heaving up and down in rhythm, as if it were breathing.

Xia Ge had seen this before.

Senior Sister……when she’d unleashed {heavenly punishment}, and the red ayara that’d covered the sky had been etched with golden veins.

And now it was wrapped around Xia Ge’s wrist, giving her astonishing power.  Staring down, Xia Ge had the idea that she could cleave a mountain in half……but surely it had to be an illusion.

Still, a Yimei was lending Xia Ge its strength.

Every Yimei would have its own characteristics, its own unique power.

The origins of Yimei were various.  Some were created by a curse, some by a person’s evil desires, and some by a person’s virtue.  Some people’s kindness knew no bounds, saving lives wherever they went.  A virtuous person like that might create a Yimei. For example, the cassock of a righteous Buddhist monk might become a Yimei, born of the monk’s virtue.  While some people were full of evil, their actions ruinous.  Their clothes, stained with blood and curses, could become a dark Yimei.  Or there were people’s spirits which, unwilling to reincarnate, unwilling to inhabit a puppet, instead wandered the earth until the soul gradually scattered and possessed items of clothing.

Therefore, a Yimei could have come from a person who ruled the world, or a malicious spirit, or a deity that only now existed in legend, lustrous and dazzling, lacking nothing.

Further, it was said by some that people with a strong will could control a Yimei.  But if the person were weak-willed person, they would be controlled by the Yimei, eventually becoming a puppet.

Yet there was one kind of Yimei.

A Yimei willing to share its power of its own accord.

No control and no manipulation.

For Yimei weren’t dead, they were alive.

They had their own emotions, their own convictions, loves and hatreds.  They might not be able to laugh or cry, but they could still feel joy and sadness.

Because they were alive, they longed for a name and would have only one.

It was their proof of their existence in the world.

Some Yimei named themselves.  When they acknowledged someone as their master, they would tell the master their name, and then bestow their power.  Some, born without a name, waited for a destined person to name them, who they would then follow for life.

The Yimei on Xia Ge’s wrist……Xia Ge obviously didn’t know its name, and yet……it was still willing to lend its own power to Xia Ge?

By the time Xia Ge snapped back to reality, the black figure was getting closer to the bamboo house!

Without thinking, Xia Ge clutched a persimmon in her hand: “You fucking stop!”

{one strike}!

Thrown without hesitation from Xia Ge’s red-ribboned hand, the ripe persimmon streaked through the air with horrific velocity, aiming for the back of the head of the black figure!

Boom!

Their reflexes not lacking, the black figure deflected the persimmon with their sword, making an eerie tone with the blade.  The next second, a demon puppet flashed behind the black figure, and the persimmon exploded the demon puppet’s head, leaving not a scrap intact.

Scalding persimmon juice burned the black figure’s face as they stood there, apparently in a daze, staring up at Xia Ge.

Perhaps it was Xia Ge’s imagination, but she felt the other party was looking at her with eyes full of: “Damn, a persimmon?  Really?!”

What’s wrong with fucking persimmons?  Don’t look down on persimmons!

But then, not waiting for Xia Ge’s next action, the black figure sprinted vigorously for the bamboo house, evidently sure the key was in there.

While Xia Ge found herself blocked by yet another demon puppet and could only rely on the Yimei on her wrist.  Riving the rank B demon puppet now felt almost like slicing vegetables, only this cut could carve a bloody path.

She couldn’t let the black figure get in the bamboo house!

""

Digging for another persimmon, Xia Ge realized she’d only had two on her in total.  She’d used one earlier for Chu Yao and now she’d just used up the other one too.  Since she lived a frugal life, what else did she have to block the black figure with?

Wait, nothing else?

……was that really true?  Xia Ge might not have much, but she did have one thing!

The second the black figure pushed at the bamboo house’s door, something charged at him.  Thinking it a concealed weapon, the sharp-eyed figure precipitously retreated to avoid it.  Who expected the ‘concealed weapon’ to turn and rush at them again.  Left no other option, the black figure lifted it onto the blade of their sword.

The ‘concealed weapon’ was fierce and powerful, making the black figure’s hand tingle from blocking it.  And when the black figure saw the ‘weapon’ full-on, they froze with shock.

Perched on the blade of the sword, a black-haired, black-eyed doll stared back expressionlessly.

Bairen subconsciously touched the little puppet he was carrying.  It looked just like the puppet sitting on his blade.  As if he’d lost his wits, he then stretched out the same hand to touch the puppet on the sword.

The instant he touched the puppet on the sword, Xia Ge pulled up her puppet control panel, pressing [Explode] without the slightest qualm!

Boom——

The moment the puppet exploded, Xia Ge’s pupils contracted and her heart jerked in her chest.  Her body stiffening, she could barely move a muscle.

A very painful feeling was spreading from her heart.

Losing a very important person.

Like losing a close friend or a close relative, losing someone who’d accompanied you……for a long, long time.  That kind of feeling.

Something wet was on Xia Ge’s face, and only when she touched her cheeks, did she realize she was crying.

The system understood more quickly: [……Are You A Fucking Fool?!]

The violent explosion of the puppet had left Bairen covered in blood.  However, he still managed to quickly recover.  About to enter the bamboo house, he heard a soft, hellish whisper——

“……one sword breaks rivers and mountains.”
