Marvel: My Own Path

Chapter 25 - Truth

At this moment, Bakuto felt a strange and weird feeling when he met Skye's golden eyes.

A second later, the image of the young man was as if it was planted on his very soul and consciousness. He felt a sense of familiarity as he looked at Skye.

"Now." Skye smiled at him and glanced at Colleen. "Tell us who you are."

*Thud!*

Bakuto's body plummeted on the ground as he dropped on his knees, his eyes dull and vacant.

Under Colleen's shocked eyes, her master who had trained her for a while now followed the intruder's order and spoke like a mechanical robot.

"I am Bakuto, a former citizen of K'un-Lun, and one of the five leaders of the Hand."

'K'un-Lun? Leaders of the Hand?' at this moment, Colleen's head was buzzing in absolute confusion as she stared at the man she called 'sensei' dumbly.

The man continued to speak as Skye nodded his head in satisfaction.

"The Hand is an ancient organization that has lived in the shadows for centuries, promoting our goal and doctrine through wars and influence on powerful people," Bakuto said in a monotone voice.

"Still think he's innocent?" Skye laughed as he gave Colleen a sidelong glance. "Why did you, and the other four leaders, leave K'un-Lun?"

Bakuto answered. "In K'un-Lun, we were taught to harness the power of Chi, the energy of life itself. The elders of the city wanted to use it to heal but I, and the other leaders of the Hand, found out the immense power and potential of Chi. Immortality, strength, the power to never face death, to regenerate ourselves over and over again—the possibilities were endless!"

He continued as Colleen covered her mouth in disbelief. "However, the elders saw our intentions as an aberration! Can you believe that?! And so, the five of us were labeled as heretics and were banished from K'un-Lun, forever."

"Ahahaha, ahahahaha!" at that moment, a burst of mocking laughter resounded in the quiet and gloomy area as Skye laughed loudly. "Then, tell me what the purpose of this place is," he asked as he swept his glance on the compound.

Hearing Skye's words, a chill went through Colleen's spine as she shook her head in denial. "No, no."

However, Bakuto was completely under Skye's control. The man wouldn't even bat an eye if he was ordered to kill himself!

He answered. "In this place, we take in young and vulnerable people who have lost their paths. In this place, we welcome them, giving them purpose and education while subtly influencing and indoctrinating them to the ways of the Hand. And eventually, with their own free will, they will become members of the organization."

Colleen: "!!!"

The young woman couldn't believe what she was hearing as she crawled towards Bakuto who was in a trance. As the ground dirtied and smeared her clothes, she used her uninjured arm and grabbed ahold of one of Bakuto's arms.

"Sensei, you are lying, right? Are you hypnotized, entranced? You're definitely not that kind of person." Colleen denied as she shook her head frantically as if trying to wake herself up from a nightmare.

However, Bakuto's eyes never budged or wavered one bit as he kept quiet as if awaiting orders.

Skye's eyes were completely indifferent as he stared at the all-too-familiar scene before him. "Unfortunately for you, he isn't lying."

Colleen: "..."

Although it appeared like she wasn't listening, Skye didn't care one bit and crouched beside her and extended his arm.

Seizing her chin with his hand, Skye turned her head so it could face his and stared straight into her eyes.

At this moment, Colleen, for the first time in her life, felt a sense of powerlessness. She couldn't even resist Skye as she was forced to look at his exotic golden eyes that no human should have.

"You know, you should really thank me," Skye smiled as he tilted her face up a bit with his index finger. "Otherwise, you wouldn't even know that you were joining a dark organization that has committed atrocious deeds in this world for centuries."

"Forcing someone to tell the truth, it is one of my eye's abilities," he laughed as he pointed at his Sharingan as if displaying it for the whole world to see.

Colleen: "..."

Seeing that she didn't wish to talk, Skye simply smirked in response and stood up, shifting his attention to the entranced Bakuto.

"Gather the remaining three leaders in one place as soon as possible, It'll be much less of a hassle to take all of them down in one go," Skye said. "Oh right, transfer all the wealth that you have in this bank account."

As he said his words, Skye took out his phone and opened an app of his bank and showed it to Bakuto, who nodded in response.

'For an organization that has walked on Earth for centuries upon centuries, they'll definitely have immense wealth right? I wonder how much money that'll be. Millions? Tens of millions? Hundreds of millions? Or maybe even billions?' Skye thought as he laughed in his heart. 'Anyway, after this, I guess I won't have to worry about monetary issues.'

Skye then gave his final order. "Destroy this place as soon as possible."

Before leaving, Skye looked at Colleen's status page since he wanted to check how strong she was currently.

"Colleen Wing... I guess that's her name."

Glancing at her one last time, Skye turned around and strode upwards in the air, as if he was walking on a staircase to heaven.

But at that moment, the silent Colleen finally said something as she looked up at the young man who wasn't any older than her.

"You say that the Hand is a dark group that has done numerous atrocious deeds, that might be true, but I can also tell that you aren't any different from them."

As she said this, she couldn't help but remember the terrifying killing aura that she had felt earlier. The intense pressure nearly made her collapse mentally!

Skye stopped in his tracks but he didn't turn around.

"I can't deny that." he smiled as he faced the night sky above. At that moment, the image of his cute little sister appeared in his head as the aloof expression on his face melted, replaced by a warm smile.

"But I'm trying to change, no, I must change," he said while laughing. Turning around, Skye looked at the young woman on the ground and smiled. "If you wanna become stronger, go to S.P.E.A.R."

After saying those final words, a flash of lightning radiated from him before a roar of thunder resounded in the surrounding.

*Boom!*

A second later, Skye's figure in the air disappeared after a sonic boom reverberated atop the compound.

After he left, Bakuto stood up from the ground and walked towards the compound's inner building, leaving Colleen who was still on the ground, dazed as she stared in the midnight skies.

"Spear?" she muttered under her breath before standing up unsteadily, hugging her injured left arm.
