Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

Chapter 61 - 060 - Day 3

"Oh my god! Why are you so selfish?! How could you... oh my! Miaaaa!! Carol, what we should do now?!! Is she... she.." Jane's mind instantly went blank when she saw how Mia disappeared into the waters in a blink of eyes. She was speechless seeing how people could turn selfish just to save themselves. They even dared to kill people for it! When the three of them paddled the canoe away from the shore, a couple of the students that followed them also jumped into their canoe out of blue and their action caused Mia to fall into the deep waters.

"Calm down... calm down... She'll be fine.. I guess... at least we didn't see her blood... probably she's just drowning... maybe she... she... still aliv....." Carolyn reassured Jane but she was too not very convinced of Mia's condition right now. Would she be able to survive? Was there anyone being swayed by the strong current ended up coming out alive?

Jane became restless as they were clueless of what to do. An idea popped up in her mind . "Oh no! We cannot leave her just like that! I'll... let me go swim under the waters and check on her."

"No! It's dangerous. The river is deep and flowing fast." warned Carolyn.

The situation turned chaotic again like the previous incident. Some of nearby bystanders screamed in fear as the second unfortunate event took place and some even fainted. While they were racking their brain of what to do next, Mia who got drowned by the fast moving river stream, managed to hold her breath before she was splashed by the waters so she prevented her body from s.u.c.k.i.n.g in a lump of waters into the system. She tried to swim back to the surface as she desperately stroke both of her hands sideways.

Unfortunately, she was out of breath. She couldn't hold any longer as she was suffocating in water. Her heart was screaming for a breath but her mind stopped her from engulfing the water. As the inner battle was fighting for the victory, both of her hands grew tired and slowly stopped moving. She was still conscious when she saw herself sluggishly fell into the bottom of the river. This scene seemed very familiar to her as if she had experienced it before.

"Rain... Rain.. Go away...

Come again another day...

Mia wants to play...

Rain... Rain.. Go away..."

Suddenly, these lyrics echoed in her ears as she was reminded by the previous nightmare she had dreamt before. In that moment, the nightmare flashed up in her mind. She remembered seeing a chain of seaweeds not too far from her, forming an outline of a long and rectangular shape like a dressing mirror. In the centre of that form, there was a body of a small girl with her skin almost turned into an apparent blue. As she stared intensely at that girl, her weak heart jolted in shock to see a sudden movement by that girl revealing the light brown pupils as if that girl was staring back at her. Then, an ear-piercing sound vibrated around her and she could hear someone was singing. Could it be that girl's voice?

"Rain... Rain.. Go away...

Come again another day...

Mia wants to play...

Rain... Rain.. Go away..."

"Who... Whooo... Are youuu...?" asked her inner voice. Surprisingly, as if both of them had the telepathy ability, the girl replied to her inner voice.

"Don't you remember me, Mia? So sad if you've forgotten about me. You've promised that you will always remember me because I'm your only true friend."

"Huh?"

"Although our time together was so short, you told me that you that was the first time ever you felt so happy. Why did you forget your happiest moment?"

As much as she wanted to recall this face, nothing triggered.

"It was raining but you want to play outside. Hence we sang together, chasing away the dark clouds. But they beat us because we made too much noise. They couldn't sleep if we continued singing. We then cried so hard because they repeatedly hit us with metal rode. We were just ten years old at that time. You're lucky because someone saved you from them, leaving me all alone there. You said that you'll be coming back to rescue me but I waited and waited... you never came back. They put a chain around my neck, afraid that I might escape just like you. If I resisted, they would drag me around using that chain like I was a pet to them...."

Imagining such a horror scene, Mia couldn't stand to hear more so she silently screamed for the girl to stop.

"STOPPPPPPP!!!! PLEASEEE!!!!"

"STOPPPPP!!! ...."

Rain... Rain... Go away...

Mia wants to play...

Rain... Rain... Go away...

Her head was throbbing like being poked by many sharp needles at the same time. Her head was hanging low, down near to her c.h.e.s.t with both of her hands cupped her head. She pulled up her knees to her c.h.e.s.t too. She looked like a lost child crying in one corner. The immense pain blocked her mind from functioning sanely. If she could chop her head off in order to make the pain go away, she was dared to do it if this suffering persisted.

Oh no! The nightmare had turned a reality. She was truly drowning in the water and felt the same intense pain she once had in her dream. But sadly, she could no longer escape this nightmare by forcing herself to wake up alive. Now, she was really on the brink of death. No escape.

'Save me! Save me!'

'Jane! Carolyn! Please... I'm here... save me...'

Mia helplessly pleaded for someone to rescue her but she saw no one even the grim reaper. It seemed that she had no chance to survive. She hadn't met her real parents

Gave up, she closed her eyes and let the darkness s.u.c.k.e.d her soul.
