Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

Chapter 62 - 061 - Day 3

--- Noah's Private Mansion, North West Land ---

"Casey Hugh, are you sure you didn't know about Russell Stafford before this ?" asked Noah in a sceptical tone to Casey Hugh as he lightly tapped his right point finger on the armchair of the grand one seat sofa in his office at the private mansion where Hannah Douglas was currently resting. Today he invited Casey Hugh to his office to confirm his suspicion on this high profile lady. He was sitting opposite to her with stoic face. He disregarded his gentleman attitude and put on his cold demeanour.

Seeing how the drastic change in Noah's attitude to her, Casey got fl.u.s.tered since she wasn't expecting this cold personality, contradicting to Noah's usual friendly manner with her throughout their previous interactions so far. Her face turned white after Noah confronted her about Aurora's informant. She felt intimidated in fear with how Noah questioned her integrity so she couldn't help but to stutter, "I... I... really don't.. know... It was Zavier that had been in contact with him... I wasn't aware.. of his relationship with.. Hannah Douglas... I..."

This was the first time she lost her vocal speaking ability. She became timid and trembled under Noah's sharp gaze. The black jade of his eyes reflected the darkness of the whole world during the night as if they could eat you alive. She hung her head low as her fingers fiddled with her dress which caused that part to wrinkle. She didn't dare to return Noah's sharp gaze as she was afraid by it. That ferocious look was enough to push her onto her death.

"You've been eyeing Hannah Douglas for the past years and yet you didn't know about her relationship with that informant of your agency. I'm a fool if I believe that absurd confession of yours. I thought you're one of the most integrity persons in this country but it seems that I was wrong about you. How disappointed!" Noah's attack grew stronger and this time he aimed to push her over the edge.

Casey Hugh was a proud person. She believed she was a hero that saved countless victims who suffered from injustice so naturally her integrity was her forte. If this matter became known to the public, her reputation got tarnished as she might lose her face. Public would question her credibility and in worst case, they would see her in the most humiliating view.

"You've been receiving helps from a person that involves in drugs and who know what other illegal activities he partakes! I, in the capacity of a normal citizen will not believe someone who claims to fight for justice when I know he or she trusts someone who has ruined other people's lives in such devious means and even shielded him from the right punishments." Noah continued to push Casey's limit and as expected, Casey's mental strength finally broke down.

"No! No! I'm not such a person that takes advantage of other people's vulnerabilities... I... I... won't compromise to such matters if I know about his involvement with drugs and etc... I won't... I won't.." she retorted but the more she tried to defend herself, she was getting emotional and her eyes started to get misty. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She paused as to calm herself down before continued, "I admit that we have received his help and used the info to help our clients but as soon as I came to know his wrongdoings, I want to fix my mistakes. That's why... I... ask Zavier to send his data to you..."

"Oh! It's you!" Noah let out a soft chuckle as he heard this. He had been waiting for this reveal but she confessed sooner than he had expected. He really hit the nail on the head this time. He realised the identity of the anonymous sender after he met Nick last time. Now, he just needed to find out who was the mole that colluded with his unknown enemy which was the mastermind behind this trap. That mastermind purposely lured him to that bas.e.m.e.nt of the West Cliffestockbeach landmark building and made him suffered tremendously in the name helping Hannah Douglas from that Stafford guy. He/she has used Casey and Hannah Douglas as the pawns in this chasing game.

"Where did you get the info?"

"Zavier... he got it from his private sources."

"I want the identities."

"No! It's against our policy."

"Huh... I guess you want to see that girl dies first before you.."

"No! No! Definitely no!" Casey immediately cut him off and strongly denied his accusation.

"Then, you need to give me their identities. Russell Stafford isn't an easy guy. As we speak, he knew that someone has known about his illegal activities at the secret bas.e.m.e.nt and the first person he will kill is that girl. If you want to save her, you must reveal from whom Zavier got the info."

Casey was hesitant. If she revealed the identities, she had compromised her integrity and if she didn't, that girl would die. Noah saw her indecisive hence he proceeded to persuade her, "I believe you choose to send the email to me because you know that South West Land isn't a region that anyone can pressure the people there to follow the law. Even the authority can't touch them that easy. You know that I have that capability to get them be punished, that's why you made that decision. Am I not right?"

Supposedly, through the right procedure, she must get the court order that allowed her to reveal the identities but she was aware that even the highest court authority failed to work on the South West's people. If she was keen on the right method, in the end, she had to close her eyes blind on this matter by force. She had no power to go against the South region. That place was ruled by gangsters including the officials there so the lawful method was ineffective on them.
