Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

Chapter 63 - 062 - Day 3

After putting some more thoughts on it, Casey gave in. People's lives matter more than her integrity. So she gave away those private informants' identities but on the premise that Noah must ensure their safety at all times. She didn't want to see more people's lives being threatened because of her decision.

"Don't worry. I'm a man of my words. Plus I can't afford to disgrace my reputation." Noah smirked as he agreed on the said condition. He paused for awhile before continued, "But there's an exception."

"Huh?" Casey threw a puzzled look to Noah.

"I can promise their safety if they aren't the mole that I look for."

"What do you mean?"

"Have you not realised something is amiss about this whole matter? You've been played by he or she, the mastermind."

Casey got more confused. She didn't understand what Noah tried to convey to her.

Noah stood up and walked to his desk. On that table, there was a panel full of different colours function buttons. He pressed one of them and a few seconds later, a light came out from the hanging projector on the ceiling and was reflected on the plain wall where Casey was facing. The projector showed several visuals on that wall.

"After I receive your email that night, I went to that place the next day. Somehow I managed to get these photos while I was there. As you can see with your own eyes, you're being watched." said Noah as he enlarged those photos that clearly photographed Casey's daily activities including the scene where Noah bumped onto her car and her afternoon appointment with Mia Wilson.

Noah pressed another button which prompted more photos of her. Some of them were from a long time ago. Casey widened her eyes in shock as she saw all those. She wasn't aware that she was being followed for such a very long time. She shook her head in disbelief. Why did someone track her activities? Casey then shifted her eyes to Noah as she waited for him to elaborate more about the photos and their connection.

Understood the gesture, Noah revealed his assumption to her that her encounter with Elaine and Hannah Douglas at that abandoned mansion might be part of the mastermind's plan. She was used as that person's pawn and most probably the target was the Douglas family, not her. However, that unknown mastermind didn't expect that Noah's appearance at that mansion which saved Hannah from dying due to the overdose. Imagine if by the time, Casey reached the mansion and saw Hannah Douglas had died in that saddened state, considering her strong sense of justice personality, definitely she would make a big fuss about it to the public and Douglas's reputation in a way would be tarnished as well because of the drug matter.

But that person's plan A had failed because Hannah didn't die, Russell Stafford's identity was exposed and Hannah even revealed where did Russell Stafford's hiding place which was at the West Cliffestockbeach which was supposed to be kept secret. So anyone who knew about these confidential info must be eliminated.

"Why do you think out of all places in West Cliffestockbeach, your informants gave you the location of the landmark building? They even circled the bas.e.m.e.nt area." Noah raised up the question as the intention of the informants revealing that secret place was definitely suspicious.

Casey shook her head. She didn't think further about that place when she first received the info. She immediately asked Zavier to send the files to Noah because she knew that she won't be able to enter that private town no matter how hard she pulled some strings unlike Noah.

"They wanted to kill whoever that went to that place and they almost killed me. That place is heavily guarded and no one has actually managed to escape from those A-lister bodyguards before this but I did which worsened the situation. Plus by now, whoever the mastermind knew that I knew their secret." said Noah.

Hearing these, her whole body was trembling in fear. What if she was the one that went there, she won't be alive as of now. Thought of this possibility, she then gulped down a lump of saliva down her dry throat. It tasted bitter.

Seeing how frightened Casey was, Noah went to the small water dispenser at the coffee corner in his office and filled up a cup of a plain water before put it on the table in front of Casey. With the shaky hands, Casey took it without hesitation and relieved her thirst. After a while, she finally calmed herself down. She also stopped trembling.

While Noah came back to his seat on that grand one seat sofa as he watched Casey carefully. So far, Casey's genuine behaviour had convinced him that she wasn't the mole that purposely lured him to that secret bas.e.m.e.nt. So he dropped his cold demeanour and put on the gentleman side of him. His stern voice was replaced by a gentle tone.

"Lucky that you're still alive, Ms Hugh. I'm really appreciate your trust in me. Don't worry... I won't betray your trust as long as you do the same. As for Hannah Douglas, my men will keep her safe at all times until this issue resolves. If you wish my men to also watch your back, do let me know but there's a price to it. Not so pricey but if you don't want my help, I have one reminder for you. Just keep yourself alive as long as possible the moment you leave my place."

Although Noah no longer appeared fierce, Casey felt more terrifying more seeing how calm Noah negotiated the price of her life as if her value was insignificant. Today she had witnessed different sides of Noah O'Sullivan that frightened her to death. The more she interacted with him, the more she couldn't predict what was on his mind and constantly being intimidated by him. A realisation hit her on that moment - she had surrendered her life to this man the moment she misjudged his personality. He was far more dangerous than that Russell Stafford.
