72. Is It Dead (2)

Translator: Guy Gone Bad

It was near the night and the rain finally stopped. The old, kids and women all landed on the site. They began to make porridge to wait for all of them to get down.

Outside the shield, Bao Ye helped the last old man down the stairs and turned to the people left, “Turn to the normal slaves.”

Nobody opposed him.

Suddenly, a crushing sound came to them, which was like something jumping out of the water and dived again.

“What’s that?”

They were all frightened and looked at there, but there was nothing.

“Maybe someone was playing with the water, don’t frighten yourself.”

They slightly relieved.

But the sound came to them again.

A slave screamed, “A monster!”

“What?” They all ran in panic.

“I saw a big black shadow jump out the water and fall into it again just now.”

But he didn’t saw it clearly since it was dim.

Chu Qiang yelled, “Don’t panic! Get down in order!”

Bao Ye lowered his voice, “Be cautious, it should be the monster fish in the Forest of Fallen.”

He dived into the water.

The bosses of the three districts looked at each other for a second and asked the slaves to hurry up.

The crashing sound appeared again, and this time, everyone saw a giant black shadow. A top slave quickly shed a light from the torch on that stuff, then everyone saw its huge eyes and sharp teeth. Some slaves screamed.

“It’s the monster fish, the monster fish!”

Suddenly, all the slaves ran panicky and scrambled for the stairs. One slaves even fell from the stairs in the stairs-grabbing fight.

“Ah—” The scream arose everyone. They looked back and saw a slave falling from the top of the stairs and went lifeless after one huge sound of human hitting the ground.

The slaves on the construction site was in a commotion, “What’s going on up there?”

The top slaves outside the shield were worried and furious, “Stop! Or you fall down and die before the monster come up to you!”

“Ah!” Another scream occurred.

It was from a slave swallowed by the monster fish.

The top slaves were all in defense and prepare to kill the monster. However, the monster fish was under the water, which was hard to see and swam quickly. All they could feel was something ran over below their feet, and all they could do was to hit the fish by their power according to that “feeling”.

For a short while, the water recovered calm.

“Is it dead?” The top slaves looked at each other in nervous.

“I don’t know, but there seems nothing moving under the water now.”

Suddenly, a crushing sound came from the water.

The top slaves assembled their power again in preparation to fight the monster. Next second, a human’s head came out from the water, then an ugly face.

Someone shed a torch light to the man and found out that it was Bao Ye.

“F**k you! What the hell are you hiding in the water?”

Bao Ye’s face was as scary as the monster fish.

Bao Ye floated up gradually, his waist was out of the water, but he was still rising.

They all stared at him in shock.

Before they were able to finish the question, their feet felt something. They were rising with that as well.

They were shocked and retreated from the place.

When they saw Bao Ye’s instep, a giant monster fish popped up from the water.

“It’s that monster fish, it’s dead.”

They were all relieved.

“Who killed it?” Someone asked.

They silently raised up their eyes to Bao Ye, who was standing on the back of the fish.

Bao Ye replied, “Hurry up and get down the stairs, more minster fish may come here soon.”

On hearing the words, the slaves never cared about who was the hero that kill the monster. It must be killed by all the top slaves.

But Boss Ji stared at Bao Ye for quite a while.

After twelve o’clock at night, the rest of slaves were all safely landed on the site. The construction site was crowded.

Bao Ye was the last one who came down.

Lao Liu passed him a bowl of porridge immediately and grinned, “Bao Ye, you are a hero! You saved so many people!”

Half of the saved slaves were taken here by Bao Ye.

Bao Ye was having the porridge, but he paused for a second on hearing his words. He felt embarrassed because he intended to see whether his foster father intend to come to the construction site, but the crowds of slaves floating and crying on the water poked on his consciousness, so he cut a tree and took them here.

“Did your sisters come here?”

“Yes, Nian Gao’s parents, and Sis Wang’s husband and kid are all here.”

“There are too many people here. It seems that we can only have one bowl of gruel.”

With millions of people here, their barn can only support few days of gruel even though everyone only had one bowl of gruel per day.

“We are okay…” Lao Liu took a look at the building then whispered, “but we don’t know the deacons.”

The deacons were good enough that they didn’t forbid them to save the other slaves and even give them grains for the porridge. They wouldn’t agree to have gruel with them in the future.

Bao Ye frowned and remained silence.

He wasn’t deacon nor possess any rights. Whether the barn could be open to them was up to the deacons.

Suddenly, a scorn burst beside Bao Ye’s ear.
