Chapter 19 - Forest Deer

It's quite fascinating how the mana changed the whole world. It existed for many many years but for some reason I always undermined its importance. After looking over everything I didn't even have idea how mana changed the world so drastically. I always recorded everything that happened but never wondered how it effected the world around me. When my library was almost full with records about plants and animals I started to look over everything. That's when I understood the importance of mana.

First and obvious effect of Mana was evolution. When Earth had no mana it took millions of years for a species to evolve and adapt. But with mana it took less than hundred years for apes to evolve into a humans. It was also partly due to my memories in each mana particle as it described the evolution. The strengthening power of Mana wasn't used for evolution but also strengthening natural disasters, natural poisons and animals. It wasn't all bad as fruits became more delicious and meat became more nutritious.

Other effect that mana had was different development of civilizations. The first civilizations that were developed in old Earth were around rivers. The four river valley civilizations were the Tigris & Euphrates Valleys, the Nile River Valley, the Indus River Valley, and the Yellow River Valley. Civilizations developed around rivers because their waters provided places to hunt and fish. Also, as the rivers flooded, the lands around them became fertile. But because of Mana rivers now are most dangerous places to live in. The weather was strengthened far more than the intelligent creatures. The normal floods wouldn't just make land more fertile it would also kill everyone in the vicinity. Also fish living in the waters are more dangerous.

I observed only few intelligent creatures around the World Tree. The main ones are Great Apes and Dragon with Wyverns. They all live in caves which give them shelter from harsh weathers. Average Apes power level was having a middle or even large circular vessels. The Previous King has Gigantic circular vessel. It sounds quite good but they are far weak. Almost every lake I researched had at least one fish with a gigantic circular vessel. The fish weren't that intelligent but they had quite the power. In short living around rivers are bad idea when Mana is involved.

But I don't think this will always be like this. Someday the Dragons and Apes(also humans) will leave their caves and try to conquer the world.

I recorded all the changes in the civilization development into a book and looked over the window. The sky was covered in dark clouds and the world outside was darker I've ever seen. The strongest storm ever was brewing. Looking outside for few minutes I was bored and went back to review my books.

The storm continued for three days during which I spend all my time in the library. Many of my disciples visited me during the storm. They were most likely very bored. Storm was a strong one and even Elves couldn't survive outside. Every day they would come to library far more than usual. Usually only Ethan comes a lot but now all my nine disciples visited me and annoyed me for 24/7. Most annoying one was my third oldest disciple Lucinda. Most of the time she wouldn't visit me but just travel around the world but three days straight she was in my library. She would dirty my records or even try and destroy some of my precious masterpieces. Thankfully Ethan was there to control her. Even right now she's sitting in front of me eating some fruit and loudly chewing it.

You may ask what you teach your disciples? You're teaching them fighting? Reading and Writing?

Even I don't know. They just proclaimed I was their teacher and I went with the flow. Some of them help me out in the Libra like Ethan and some of them just use library as their own house.

Lucinda was quickly bored and left the room when storm stopped. When I thought I finally got rid of her she came back running after few minutes. She was panting furiously and with shivering voice she said, "There is a dead gigantic dear next to mother! I could feel a powerful aura coming from it! That creature is stronger than me so I came to ask for your help!"

I looked at stocks of paper in my desk and thought it's better to get some rest. I can't just lock myself in a room. I quickly followed her and in few minutes we arrived before the dead animal. Actually it wasn't dead but was seriously injured. It was a red deer as big as the Dragon. It's vessel was around the middle size tear shape. Elves because they were created by the World Tree were very times at sensing the magic inside other creatures.

I looked at Lucinda and ordered, "Can you go and bring me medical herbs from the storage! Let's treat its wounds"

Lucinda was confused and asked, "Why waste herbs to treat a useless dead animal?"

"This creature is quite interesting and I want to research it!" I answered smiling

"Interesting?" She asked.

I looked at her with a disdainful look and said, "Don't you feel it? The mana particles around this creature is so stable and peaceful!"

I researched many animals but all of them had one similar characteristics. The mana around them would always be berserk. Because they use Mana for destructive attacks many animals who could control mana had an unstable mana particles surrounding them. It was a bodily mechanism developed for protection against unsuspecting attacks. This deer in front of me was different as the Mana particles around him were stable.

I quickly treated the animal and after few days it was fully treated. After it was healthy he didn't leave but stayed. It would follow Elves and start to pray before the World Tree. I thought it as nothing special until one day.
