Chapter 26 - Fainted Child!

Looking at the kid in front of me I again looked at Lucinda and asked, "Where did you pick up this child! I know that being a lonely old lady is boring but stealing kids is....." Before I even finished saying that I felt a punch coming towards my face. I easily evaded the punch and restrained Lucinda.

After few minutes of her trying to fight me back she stopped and with a sigh she gave up. I let her stand up and tell everything she knew. She went towards my bed and started to pat the child's head. Then she looked at me and said, "I was hungry during the night time so I started to look around. When I left my house I heard a Wyverns roar from a faraway place. It was nothing special at first but the roars would come closer to the library. When I went closer to check out what's happening I saw this child was chased by a Wyvern. At first I thought he was an elf child because he clearly looks like an elf with his golden hair and facial features. My first instinct was to save the kid so I killed the Wyvern. Only after I killed the Wyvern I remembered that there is no elf children in here. Confused of what to do I stood there dumbfounded. Then the child ran towards me and hugged me. I patted his head and tried checking his ears. They weren't elven ears. After I checked them he just fainted."

After having an idea about his symptoms I sighed. From what Lucinda told me the kid has just fainted from exhaustion. He should wake up soon.

I came closer to check the kids clothes to see if he was hiding anything. Kid was chased by a Wyvern so there has to be a reason for it. Why would a quite powerful creature like Wyvern chase a weak human child. There is something more to it.

Kid was wearing fur clothes that were made from the fur of the sheeplike creature. There are many different species of sheep around the world tree and most of the intelligent creatures use it to make beds. Child did not seem to have a malnutrition and I didn't see any slave marks on his forehead. Most likely he wasn't from the Ape Kingdom. This piqued my interest because of he wasn't slave from Ape kingdom it means there is a human civilization around here.

After observing him I noticed a slight bulge around his c.h.e.s.t area. I searched there and found that between his clothes there was a hidden parchment. Parchment is a writing material made from specially prepared untanned skins of animals—primarily sheep, calves, and goats. In my old world I learned about them in books. Even in my time they were things of the past. Finding a parchment shocked me because of how advanced the civilizations became.

The intelligent creatures now can keep the records and have such an advanced cultural revolution. This shocked me quite a bit. If it continues like that I'm scared that humans would start to create more deadly weapons.

Was it wise to keep people living?

I opened the parchment but couldn't read anything. I looked at Lucinda and asked if she could read it. Only thing I received however was negative answer. I put away parchment on a shelve and sat next to my bed where the kid was lying on.

After few hours I noticed some movement from the child and I went closer to take a look. His hands started to move towards his head and he slowly raised his head. His trembling hands touched his head and he slowly looked at me and Lucinda. His eyes showed confusion and fear. I stood up and looked at Lucinda. After that I said, "Can you please look after him! You found him and he is mostly close with you. He may not like strangers like me being here." After saying that I left the room.

...

When I opened my eyes I saw two beings next to me. One was a female that I saw before fainting and the other was a man that looked like the woman. They looked like me! They had the same hair color as mine and their facial bone structure was like mine. Only difference between male and female was that the man had ears like me and girl had long and pointy ears.

After I looked at them the man stood up and said some gibberish words and left the room. I didn't know what to say and just looked at the female. After few minutes I remembered my mom giving something to me and I started searching my clothing to find it. I couldn't find it who'd made me cry. The woman was confused but after few moments she looked around the room and gave something to me.

It was the thing that my mom gave to me before I left her. Tears started to come out of my eyes again and the woman started patting my head.

After sometime I stopped crying and the woman left the room. Before late she came back with a man and the other man that looked like me. The new man came towards me and asked, "What's your name?"

I was confused because someone could speak my language here. I was confused but also overjoyed and said, "My name is Arthur!"
