Other Dimension's Knight

Chapter 22 - XXII: Similarities

Rin got even more angry than before with the way Shirou closed the door on her. She forced the door open and forced her way into the house. She didn't like the fact that Shirou didn't tell her what plan he had and she was feeling frustrated that their plan to save Sakura worked yesterday night.

" To-Tohsaka ! What are you doing here ? " asked Shirou slightly fl.u.s.tered.

" I'm here because you didn't come to school and stood me up at our regular check-in. " said Rin, still quite frustrated and angry.

" Stood you up ? Oh well because something happened yesterday and I'm not feeling well so me and Sakura stayed here today ... " said Shirou, slightly stuttering.

Shirou didn't know how to lie so Rin immediatly recognized his lie but didn't say anything. As he said, their alliance was only until they defeated Caster and apart from that Shirou didn't have any obligation to tell her more information. Still it frustrated her to no end to see this beginner magus try to act like he didn't need her ( which was true ).

" Oh really ? " said Rin narrowing her eyes on Shirou.

" Y-yes really. " said Shirou, stuttering once more.

" Let's take this opportunity to hold our regular meeting here then. " said Rin as she removed her shoes.

" W-wait up a second. " said Shirou but Rin ignored him and headed towards the living room without any shame.

Shirou just sighed at Rin's behaviour and also headed towards the living room.

-----------------------------------------------

Currently, Rin, Saber, Alexander and Shirou were sitting around the table in the living room discussing their plan for Caster. Surprisingly, Rin didn't say anything about what happened yesterday's night even though she was watching.

" So in the end, our only option against Caster is frontal assault. " said Rin

" I believe so. There is a powerful barrier against spiritual beings around the mountain and only Alexander can pass through. Therefore the only way for us is the frontal gate. " said Saber.

" So if we force our way to the temple, Caster will be waiting. " said Shirou.

" Well, that seems logical, even if she's not incredibly strong outside of her territory, she is to be considered a powerful force inside of it, and even if assassin is now dead, she can still be troublesome by herself, especially when she knows that 2 servants are attacking her. " said Alexander.

" By the way, why are you sitting so far away Shirou ? " asked Rin.

Shirou, while the other three were around the table, was sitting close to the wall instead of next to Rin.

" Because you poached my usual place obviously! " said Shirou.

" Anyway, once we're on the grounds, the question is how we'll corner Caster. If we play our cards wrong , she might take out all of Ryuudou Temple." said Rin.

" True that is something Caster would do. " said Saber.

While the two woman were speaking they weren't noticing the frowns on both Alexander's and Shirou's faces. Shirou was because he was denied his place by Rin, but Alexander was because of a completely another reason ....

" Saber, don't say scary stuff so casually ! Are you saying Caster will self-destruct if we corner her ? " said Shirou.

" It is likely, yes. " said Rin

" I believe so. " said Saber.

Both of them nodded at the same time.

" You two are totally in sync .... " said Shirou.

" Come one, she's not that destructive .... " muttered Alexander frowning but also looking slightly sad at the same time.

The two humans didn't hear him, but Saber having her senses enhanced managed to catch what he said. She sensed that this white-haired knight seemed to know Caster maybe, but in the end it only added to one of the things that he would have to tell her once she beats him in a spar....

" Wow, it's this late already ? I guess we should wrap things up. I need to get dinner started up. " Shirou said while shoting an exhasperated glare at Rin.

" What is it Emiya, why are you staring at me ? " said Rin with the most innocent tone she could muster, but it sounded oddly fake.

" No, I was just .... " started Shirou.

" Heh heh, I get it ..... Outside we're two masters so I don't bother you but inside your own house, you revert to your natural instincts. " said Rin, teasing Shirou.

" Ahh ?? What are you talking about idiot, you're just coming in my house like it's nothing and eat, that's why ! " said Shirou looking slightly pissed.

Rin certainly didn't except Shirou to answer to her tease like this, and she was pissed about her answer but still it was logical so afterwards came an absolute disaster of a debate about Shirou's action yesterday and their alliance which was more like both venting on each other than anything while Alexander and Saber had already left both to their discussion for the dojo where Saber would hit the dust once again.

In the end, Rin managed to convince both Professor Fujimura and Shirou that she would stay here for the night while Sakura still hasn't woken up yet. Alexander disappeared when Professor Fujimura came home but checked on Sakura before. Her state was stabilizing and she was now much more healthier. She should be waking up before tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Rin and Saber noticed the state of Shirou's body, he couldn't hold anything without making it fall and had to walk much slower than usual. While in the house it wasn't too noticable, when he dropped plates on the ground Saber managed to notice the condition of her master's body.

In the end, Rin asked Alexander if he could do something about it and got a negative answer so she asked Archer to help Shirou with his state.

After dinner, Rin was currently stargazing under the snow in the middle of the Emiya residence's courtyard.

" Oh, where is Tohsaka ? " asked Shirou to Saber while Professor Fujimura was eating some ch.i.p.s under a blanket.

" I believe that Rin is in the courtyard currently. " answered Saber to Shirou.

Shirou headed towards Rin to see what she was doing but not before checking on Sakura once again, even with Alexander's updates, he was still worried about her state.

--------------------------------

Shirou arrived at his courtyard and saw Rin looking around the house.

" Tohsaka ? " said Shirou to gain her attention.

" I like your bounded fields. Unlike the ones at my home, you can feel human emotion in it. " said Rin as she sat down.

" Would you accompany me for a bit ? "

Shirou simply sat next to her at her question.

" What ? " asked Shirou.

" I was just curious, this house is quite unique. It occured to me that maybe you're better off the way you are. " said Rin.

" A hopeless amateur you mean ? " asked Shirou.

" I didn't mean it that way, but maybe that's exactly it. I don't know what Emiya Kiritsugu was as a mage, but this compound is incredibly natural. For a mage's workshop it's quite open. It's like you're welcome to come in and go freely. " said Rin.

" Isn't it like that at your home ? "

" No, it isn't. It tries to keep people out, but once you're in it doesn't let you leave. At times I think it's wrong but it isn't something I can change either. Personally, I like the way it is. I was probably chosen as the heir because my personality is like this. " said Rin.

" Was it hard for you ? " asked Shirou.

" Training in magic ? Sorry, but I've never once considered it to be difficult. Plus, learning new things was always fun. Didn't I tell you before ? That's how I'm wired. So you don't need to be worried about me. "

" Okay. " said Shirou with a smile.

" Then, why are you at school ? If you're going to live as a mage, isn't it quite worthless ? " asked Shirou.

" It may be a detour, but I don't think it's worthless. It's fun to be a student after all. And in heart, I'm a hedonist. Succeeding my father is my duty, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it either. Even the reason for my partnership with you is because you're interesting "

" I see ... Well, I'm glad you're having fun " said Shirou while smiling.

" Thanks. And ? Of course it's been fun for you aswell right ? "

The smile on Shirou's face faded at her words while he seemed to be thinking about something.

" Wait, why aren't you saying something ? " asked Rin.

" Well, I just ... "

Rin just waited for his answer that didn't come before narrowing her eyes on him.

" Give me a straight answer, Emiya. Because I might have completely misunderstood you. "

" I guess ... I never though of magic training as fun ... Even magic itself. But if the people around me were happy, I was happy aswell ... So if I studied magic, I might be able to help someone someday .... I wanted to be a hero of justice just like Kiritsugu. That's why I studied magic. Anyway that's my reason. "

" So what then, you never studied magic for yourself ? "

" I just said I did though ? Because it makes me happy to be useful to others. " said Shirou while Rin was angry at his answer.

" You know, that's just being happy, not having fun ! Listen, what I'm asking you is if you personally enjoy it. I don't care about others I'm asking about yourself. "

" It's hard to say if I personally enjoy it.... I sort of wish like I don't deserve more wishes .... " said Shirou looking slightly sad and guilty.

" Wait a minute ! Give me a straight answer ! " said Rin looking really pissed off.

" Well I guess I don't ..... " said Shirou.

" I'm so angry right now because of you ! " said Rin while gritting her teeth slightly.

" So basically, you're always worrying about others but never focusing on yourself ! " she added.

" I always thought you were similar, but I didn't think you were this alike ! "

" Calm down Tohsaka ! Why are you so angry ? " asked Shirou.

But this time Rin didn't answer to his words and gritted her teeth even more before walking back to the house looking really angry. She didn't forget to sent him a nasty glance before, much to Shirou's confusion.
