OverGod Of Yggdrasil

Chapter 13 - A ‘Dark’ Side of Lain

Raven knew she had f.u.c.k up as her schemes were on open display for Lain to see.

What Lain would most likely get from seeing her scheming side, was that she is a manipulative person who would sacrifice the innocent to achieve her aims. No one would like such a person unless they were evil.

However while everything has come to light, well what she wants him to see, Raven was not guilty nor was she remorseful of her actions. If she had another chance she would have done the same thing over again, in fact, if she had been the same as she was in the past, the things she would do was even more terrifying!

Anyone hearing about her deeds of the past would be scared to death. In fact, the Ancestral God of Fear was frightened when he witnesses her deeds, so that should make one aware of how dangerous she was. She made a being whose power literally came from fear, fearful of even being around her.

In this world of death and despair, even family members would kill each other for an extra grain of rice, so scheming of making a God a slave to oneself was not beneath them.

I'm fact, it was the situation that prompts her to change into this direction. If the Water Buffalo God had not fixed his sight on her tribe, she would have to continue leaving her tribe in peace but... things happened she had never predicted would.

Signing, Raven turns around and looks back at her tribesman, " Forget what I have said before, make preparations for the true God Bestowal Ritual, I need to do something."

Tap. Tap.

Lain drummed his fingers on the armrest of his throne, bringing a sense of rhythm to his seal dimension.

Lain has obviously been suspicious of Raven from the beginning, in fact, there were a few reasons he chose the Fire Crow Tribe as his focal point in this world.

The first was because the tribe had a very suitable location, along with a few amounts of tribes. The tribes in the surroundings were weak and had no real strength to contend against him.

The second is that the tribe was situated at the far east side of the continent, meaning they had a natural barrier against enemies coming for that side.

What Lain didn't know was that oceans of the World of God were very dangerous places full of bizarre creatures strong enough to kill Ancestral Gods with a slap. However, these creatures cannot come on land as they were a curse by the Sea God, making it so the seas would remain a forbidden land to all.

These two reasons alone made Lain contemplate if he had the notion of conquest from even before he had chosen the tribe? How else would he have picked such a tactical location for his base? If this was something he did without knowing, this would mean he had a very powerful unknown ability that is likely to predict the future or simply blind luck, that works in his favor. Either way, he was destined to make a scene in this world.

Of course, those two reasons where not enough for the newly ascended God of Conquest to pick the tribe. The real reason was that he had to use a skill when he was looking in the mirrors, the skill is called, Truth Sight, an ability that allows one to see through all things, of course, it's not possible to see through all things.

The Truth Sight is a weak imitation of the skill wield by the All-Father, Odin Sight! Odin Sight can see into the future, tell one past and many more.

The skill Lain uses is not as powerful nor as versatile, as it only has one function. The function is to see things that are hidden from view. That's to say it can see beings that try to hide either with illusions or just seal beings or things of that kind.

When Lain has used the skill, what he saw was a shadow of a pale looking giant woman wielding a bow looking down condescending towards the tribe.

However, Lain would not be alarmed no matter how big or powerful looking a person might seem, especially now that his outlook on life had changed. However, even with his newfound will power of steel, Lain was scared, and surprise at what appears in front of his eyes at that point in time.

Name: Divine Name: Braham Veil, Mortal Name: Raven

Status: Healthy(weakened state)

Title: One Above All, and Below None, Goddess of the Moon Race, Mistress of Vengeance, The Moons Favorite, Reincarnated Goddess.

Reading the status, Lain was somewhat speechless as he never expected to see a status screen ever again. What amazed him more was the myriad of titles Raven had at her disposal.

Each of the titles had a specific amount of power.

Seeing the number of titles Raven had, Lain concludes that she might be one of the most powerful if not the most powerful being in this world, especially since one of her titles literally said she was.

The only thing that made him confuse what that he couldn't see her stats, while he could see the titles. This only made Lain conform that Truth Sight has evolved to suit this new universe, many of his magic and skills have, but it still conformed to its root of what it could do. Seeing Stat was beyond what it was designed to do.

Lain sat there realizing he would have to really start doing some research, as the amount of things he doesn't know is interesting at an alarming state. Lain was kind of disappointed that no one amongst his subordinates could be chosen to do research on his behalf as they weren't made to do it.

If he asks, he was sure that Yama, that grumpy kid would be happy to do it for him, but it would have a dark and sinister outcome, considering his morals.

Rubbing his chin, Lain frowned and look into the mirror in front of him, which showed Raven kneeling down in front of the shrine. " Lain, I know you know I'm not what I seem, and you probably know I had schemed against you. I have not come to apologize or ask for forgiveness, what I want is to make a deal with you."

Lain was a surprise, what is she talking about? She was scheming against him?

It's true he uses one of his skills to see through the shrine and watch her when she was talking to the tribesman. He had, however, notice he couldn't understand what they were saying, well maybe if they were talking directly to him he could?

" Oh, I thought you would pretend I didn't know your schemes. Anyway, what deal do you want?" Lain was curious about this so call deal, while also, curious about how she schemes against him.

"I will make you the god of this tribe, make sure everyone here is loyal to you and follow all your orders. In return, I want you to make me your subordinate god, a fellow in your patheon in the future."

Subordinate gods? A new term, but I can see what it is from the context and words she uses. Interesting, but...

" I will have to reject your offer. You were given a good deal in the beginning, I will protect this tribe and in return, I will become the god of this tribe, but you have broken my trust, there is no way I can trust you again. I will make a deal to you, you will become a soldier in my army of conquest and in return, you get to live. The tribesmen will have the same offer as well since they scheme against me, they will die on the battlefield to wash away this betray I'm feeling. Those who survive will gain my blessing of immense strength and divinely! As long as they fight for me this tribe shall never fall." Lain smile deviously as he had gained far more than he should have. If he had play a good god for this tribe, it would have taken months to conquer them fully but since this opportunity came along, why not ride the waves to success. The good thing about this is that he would not be a bad guy as Raven was the one that forces him on this path.

Making a God mad was the last anyone would want to do. Lain wanted to engrave this thought inside of their minds.

" I can't agree with that! Many will die, this will make the tribe's member drop to a few, even if half of them manage to survive. You should punish me instead, leave them be." Raven shouted feeling dismay! It's true she was an evil person in her last life, but now she was not but a mortal with divinity! She had felt like anyone else, so she was not willing to see the people she had help die, no matter if it was a few who died.

"Imprudent! You a fallen god dares to question me, the Almighty God of Conquest?!! If I say you should die, you should be happy and kneel at my feet offering the blade that would loop you head off. In this tribe, my words don't need to be questioned only follow. Hmm, I feel you are going to be a problem in the future, I should solve this while I can."

[Racial Skill: Create Priest Of Chaos!]

As Lain spoke, a dark sinister looking aura came to from his body. The aura seems to transcend worlds as it pierces through the mirror and arrives in front of Raven.

The aura fuse into Raven's body, making her body shook and shiver as pain rocks her body. The aura seems to be from the entrance of hell, as a mouth with razor-sharp teeth appears, and devour Raven's body, leaving a pool of blood on the ground.

Ravens mind seem to transcend her body and arrive in a far distant world.

This world was fully golden and had aura she was familiar with, divinity! The divinity coming from this world was pure and powerful far more than the World of God. One thing that Raven was confused about was the many strands of divinities in the air that seem to be waiting for someone to grab. As she notices this, one of the many divinities seems to be connected to her, as it flew into her body, making her scream and her faint.

Lain stood up from his throne as he was shocked to his core.

Aura should rise form his body and drown Ravens body, before engraving the marks of Chaos on her body. These marks are connected to Lain's Chaos Titan body.

That means Raven would gain a lot of perks, one of which is becoming powerful. However this sense of powerfulness is not perfect as one never be able to improve without Lain deciding for them, which makes Lain the God of the Chaos Priests.

In theory, Lain could create 300 level

1 Priest of Chaos, or a different variety of levels Priest of Chaos.

There are many skills and spells that a Priest of Chaos would gain depending on how many levels Lain gives them. However, there are three base mandatory skills that all Priest of Chaos would gain, no matter their levels.

Connection with God, Chaos Conversion, Undyjng Chaos. Connection with God allows a priest to be in constant connection with Lain. It's like a constant message spell was on. Chaos Conversion allows the Priest to incite chaos, mankind mindless fighting zombies out of people. And last but not least, Undying Chaos, allows the Priest to be completely immortal once per day, meaning they can escape from Death's grasp.

As was lost in this state of shock, Ravens body that disappear when the mouth devour her, reappeared, but she was far different from before.
