Reborn Into Pokémon With An Odd System

The red-eyed servant just smiled at him and scratched his head "You have no idea how much I enjoyed myself hehe. If only you weren't stuck as a brat you could have joined me, who knew that this world would have women so..."

Max quickly cut him off "Dude enough you don't have to give me any details okay, more importantly, did you actually do what you set out to do in the first place or did you get too distracted."

Lance gave him an awkward smile "Yeah sorry bout that it's just that I haven't had that much fun in a longggg time. I did catch two new partners though, let's go outside so you can meet them."

Max nodded and quickly stood up, by now his injuries that where covered were healed he just left the ones on his face since it would lead to suspicion if his parents suddenly discovered that he had been cured.

He walked up to Deino and shook the little pokémon awake "Hey buddy wake up we are about to meet some of your new friends."

The small pokémon immediately stood up and began jumping "DEINO, DEINO".

Lance walked closer to it and began inspecting it "Looks like you caught one yourself haha. He sure is lively, I like him already."

As Lance was talking to Max the small pokémon jumped at him and tried biting Lance's leg. The servant swiftly dodged and looked at the small pokémon with a smirk "This little guy might be a little too lively hehe."

Max nodded and picked up the small pokémon "Yeah a friend of mine let me keep him since we became close friends in the little time that we met each other."

Lance nodded and began leaving the room with Max and Deino following him. When they reached the living room his parents quickly stood up from the dining table, his father walked towards Deino and crouched, "So this is the pokémon that the professor was talking about?"

Max nodded and caught Deino in the air as the pokémon jumped with his mouth open ready to bite the face of his father. He began petting the small pokémon and laughed "You see Deino has the bad habit of biting anything that he finds new, since he has bad eyesight the way that he investigates new things is by biting.

His father looked at the pokémon and burst in laughter "He sure sounds like he will be a handful". Max nodded and began lowering the small pokémon "Deino you can't bite my parents, okay".

The small pokémon lowered his head somewhat and then nodded, it was clearly disappointed, which made everyone laugh. They all followed Lance outside, the sun seemed to be rising so if he were to guess it was somewhere around 5 to 6 am. Lance took out a pokéball and brought out a green insect-like pokémon that resembled a mantis. It had 2 sets of cream-colored wings and 2 scythe shaped blades for hands and was about 5ft tall.

Max quickly became wide-eyed and began to walk closer to it "Yes, you actually caught a scyther. You have no idea for how long I've planned to catch one haha. Where did you find him?"

Lance stood proudly and smiled "I caught him in the safari zone, this scyther tried to battle a leader of a group of them and lost. That's when I showed up and caught him after a light spar."

When Lex heard Lance he began laughing as if he thought that he was joking, but Max knew perfectly well that Lance was being serious. He got closer to Scyther and the pokémon just glared at him, when Max tried touching his blades the pokémon backed away quickly.

What it didn't expect was that it was going to be sneak attacked by Deino who bit his leg from behind. The insect pokémon began to wave around his leg like crazy trying to get the blue pokémon off but to no results.

The whole family burst and laughter as Max called Deino back leaving Scyther trying to look behind its leg for any injuries. After finding none it walked behind Lance and began practicing by swinging his Scythes around.

Max looked at it with a smile while thinking "Maybe Lance will start focusing on his training and go easier on me hehe."

The servant must have read his mind because he turned around and gave Max an evil smile and shook his head. He began to dig around in his pockets and brought out yet another pokémon, this one resembled a duck. It was also about 5 ft 6, had red eyes, was blue, and had a red orb on his forehead. Max began laughing as he pointed at Lance "Looks like you found your pokémon self haha." Lex looked at the pokémon and then at Lance and nodded "There sure is a similarity hehe."

Deino walked over to Golduck, and the duck-like pokémon tried to pet it but suddenly Deino jumped up and bit his flipper. The startled pokémon began to whack Deino with its other flipper and shoot it with a Water Gun. After a few seconds Deino ran back to Max, as Golduck ran after it prepared to use scratch.

Lance blocked it's path and shook his head, the pokémon took one last look at Deino and made a fist with its flipper and punched it on his other opened hand repeatedly "GOLDUCK, GOLD, GOLDUCK."

Max didn't need to speak pokémon to be able to understand that he had a pretty good guess "You'll see when we are alone, I'm going to make you regret the day that you were born."

He shook his head as he thought "Sorry Deino but you kinda earned this one haha."

He walked closer to the GOLDUCK and began to pet the spikey head "Nice to meet you Golduck, my name is Max and I'm a friend of your trainer. I would really appreciate it if you could forgive Deino. He's kinda new to all this and I haven't had enough time to train him. Do you think that you could do that for me?"

The duck-like Pokémon used his webbed hand and placed it in his chin as if thinking really hard after a couple of seconds he nodded and gave a thumbs up "DUCK, GOLDUCK".

Max smiled at him and they gave each other a fist bump, then he waved Deino over "Apologize to Golduck."

The small hairy pokémon put his head down and said "DEINO, DEINO." Golduck nodded and this time slowly brought his webbed hand down and began to pet Deino. When he looked at Lance he found that Scyther had now stopped practicing and gave a slight glance at the two pokémon from time to time.

Max shifted Deino's body toward the insect pokémon "You have someone else that you have to apologize to."

Deion slowly walked over to Scyther and repeated the same process. Scyther nodded and used the back of his blades and rubbed them around Deino's hairy head.

Lex and Maria walked towards him together and smiled "Well now that we have introductions over with you should start getting ready to go to school."

Max looked at them confused but then it hit him, he had come back on Sunday and apparently slept the whole night, now it was Monday and his first day at school. He looked at them and sighed "Do I really have to go? I already know everything that they are going to teach me."

His parents laughed and nodded "Even if what you say is true, it's going to get you to interact more with the kids from the town. Ever since you were a small kid you've been alone, you got to experience what having friends was like in the camp and we assume that you had a good time right?"

He took a deep breath and nodded, they got ready and walked him to the small school, when they arrived Deila was walking Ash to the school. As soon as they were within view he felt Lance stop for a brief second, when he turned around to look at the servant he found him with wide eyes and an open mouth.

At first, he was confused by the reaction but then it hit him and he thought "Oh shit, noo man you can't that's Ash's mother." He slowed his pace and signaled Lance that they had to talk, he told his parents that he would catch up with them after asking Lance something about his trip.

Once they were far away so that they wouldn't be able to hear he turned around and looked into Lance's eyes with a serious gaze. "What was that reaction that you had just now?".

The servant looked at him confused "What do you mean?"

Max sighed and spoke even quieter "As soon as you saw that lady, the one with her kid you made a hell of a funny expression."

Lance looked at him and scratched his head "To be honest I don't know, still though I gotta say that I'm honored that you got jealous, sadly I gotta let you know that you're not my type." Max shook his head "Dude trust me I ain't like that, I just want to let you know that she is outta your limits okay. She's the mother of one of my friends and I will not let you get near her unless you want something serious. Even then first you have to help me out with my plans. I'm even willing to use a command seal if I have to. She is a good person and has a sad past, she's not a type of woman that you want to mess around with."

The servant took a deep breath and nodded "That doesn't mean that I can't talk to her right?"

Max shook his head "No it doesn't as long as you don't try to have one of your one-time things and you actually want to spend your life and be faithful to her you can even try to win her heart but I gotta say for you that might be a really big responsibility haha."

Lance raised his brow and smacked Max's head "Hmph, is that really what you think of me? Anyway, don't worry I won't try to do anything like that. As I said before I haven't really felt like that before, I just want to get to know her and see if she's the one."

Max rolled his eyes and punched Lance in the arm "Look man if what you just felt is some sort of crazy love at first sight then count on me to help you out with what I can, but if that isn't the case then forget it."

The servant gave out an odd laugh "Kid I've lived for years and been with hundreds of women there isn't one that can grab a hold of my heart so easily."

Max laughed on the inside as he thought "Right then that idiotic face that you had on just now must have been my imagination." The two of them caught up with his parents who were waiting in the front door with everyone else for the teacher to open the door of the classroom.

He saw Ash and the two of them got closer to each other and began to talk about school and what they thought it was going to be like. A young red-haired man opened the door and smiled at everyone "Hello, children and parents, my name is Ryan and I will be your teacher this year. Now if the kids could please take your seats so that we could start class."

The parents began to push their kids towards the class and soon all of them were seated and waiting for class to begin. The teacher started teaching them the alphabet, Max simply yawned and took out the letters that he had been given the day prior. Since he was tired, injured, and a bit depressed he hadn't read them yet.

He started with the one from Jake.

Sup Max, it sucks that I can't say bye to you in person but I decided to ask Professor Oak to help me write this. I hope that you are feeling better, sorry about not being able to get Ash to shut up about your fight and the reward if I would have then you wouldn't have gotten injured. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry about how we first met, but I'm glad that we did. I hope to cya around someday :-)

Max nodded and began opening the one from Jack.

Hey, buddy, I hope that you are doing well, that Ash spilled the beans about your plans. It's truly a shame, I'm sure that you would have won against her if you didn't end up getting injured. Oh and almost forgot Professor Oak is helping me write this. It was fun hanging around you and Ash, even if we didn't have a good first meeting I want you to know that you're one of my closest friends. I hope to see you around if you ever come to the Hoenn Region. Take care man and try your best not to fight any other pokémon haha.

Max smiled and began putting the letters back in their envelope and put them in his backpack and into his storage as he began grabbing the three other letters from it. He was about to take them out of his bag when he heard his name being called. "Mr. Lane, would you be nice enough to write the alphabet on the board."

He looked at the teacher who was writing the alphabet, he had gotten to the letter F before noticing that Max wasn't paying attention. Max sighed and began walking towards the board and quickly finished the rest. The teacher was slightly surprised and gave instructions for the rest of the class to write them down to make sure that he wasn't teaching them something they already knew.

While the class was doing that Max opened the letter labeled Jackie.

Hello, handsome looks like you once again got hurt thanks to that girl. I also heard that the reason you were battling that blonde was because you wanted to get her to be your girlfriend. After some asking I heard that you had a dream of getting several girls, if I'm honest I'm kinda weirded out with that but as long as I get to be with you I'm sure that I can overlook it. Anyway, I'll see you around again someday that I'm sure about.

P.S. You look so cool when you're running around in the mornings and cute when you fall asleep in the grass. I'm glad that you bumped into me that day, I felt something the moment our eyes met.

Max was left with his mouth open as he read her letter. He let out a sigh of relief since he could tell that she wrote the letter herself since the handwriting wasn't that good. "So her name is Jackie, I'll make sure to remember it haha."

He began to open Cynthia's letter.

Hey, Max let me start by saying how sorry I am about hurting you with Dragon Pulse, I was so focused on Deino getting closer to Gible that I didn't notice that you were distracted till it was too late. I gotta say that you did way better than I expected, looks like I really will have to train harder to make sure that I don't make things too easy for you. I gotta say though you really are a cool person the only thing that ticks me off is your dream but I find it kinda interesting at the same time haha. That Serena girl sure looks like a nice girl but that other one, Jackie, is a little too forward haha, she stated that she's going to be the one that you love the most. Anyway, I had to leave Deino there since he didn't want to come back with me, it looks like the two of you really bonded. He was the pokémon that my grandmother was studying but I'm sure that she will be happy when she finds out that he's gotten a good home. I'll be waiting for you in Sinnoh, if you ever want to contact me just tell Professor Oak to give Professor Carolina a call.

He nodded and put the letter away and opened Serena's which was the one that he was worried about the most.

Dear Max,

I'm writing this letter with the help of Professor Oak, I want to thank you for saving my life twice. I'm sorry that you always end up hurt. I remember that when you told me your goal of having a lot of wives you said that I would hate you but the truth is that I don't. I can't accept the idea at this moment so I'm going to need time to think about it. I hope that your feelings for me don't change and that we end up meeting each other again. I live in the Kalos region. I hope to see you around someday, I'll be waiting to give you my answer in person. Once again thank you for saving me even if it meant that you would end up hurt.

Max let out a deep breath as he looked at the ceiling and thought "Looks like I'm going to have to wait for a good while, but still, I guess it's better than her just plainly rejecting me. At least there's still some hope."

He laid his head down and fell asleep while thinking about his future. He was woken up when someone was shaking his arm. He lifted his head and met eye to eye with his teacher "Lane, I apologize that you find my class so boring but I still need you to focus. Now go to the board and solve that math problem."

Max slowly turned his head towards the board and saw the equation (3-1) he looked back at Ryan with a raised brow and walked over to the board and wrote the answer. He was about to sit down but was stopped by the teacher who wrote a more 'complicated' problem (50-25) Max immediately answered it and sat down quickly and returned to sleep.

The day ended and he was about to leave when he heard Ryan call his name "Max can you come here?"

He nodded and walked towards the teacher "Yes?"

Ryan sat down and looked at Max "Did your parents teach you about the alphabet, addition, and subtraction?"

Max shook his head "No the one who taught me was my family's friend, his name is Lance."

The teacher nodded "Did he teach you anything else?"

Max pretended to think and nodded "he began talking about multiplication and division he said that knowing that would help me in the future when I try to become a Pokémon trainer."

As soon as Ryan heard Max mention his dream of becoming a trainer he looked disappointed, but tried hiding it and nodded "Yeah it sure will. Do you think that your friend might come over and help me teach the kids?"

He shook his head and laughed inside "He said that he doesn't really like to be around kids"

The teacher sighed and nodded "That's a shame he sounds like an amazing teacher. If you ever want to get a career that doesn't have anything to do with becoming a trainer let me know okay. You seem to be really talented, I'll prepare some sheets of multiplication and division for you tomorrow so that you have something to do."

Max nodded and began walking out, once he was outside he found Lance talking to Delia he sighed and thought "This man seriously doesn't lose any time."

He walked towards them and waved at Ash. The spiky-haired kid gave him a short nod and continued listening in on his mother's conversation. After a few minutes, Delia excused herself.

Lance and Max headed home.

"Can you believe that her husband left her to go on some Pokémon journey and hasn't come back yet after so many years? He seriously has to have a screw loose."

Max sighed and nodded "That's why I said that she had a sad past."

They walked home and after his parent's interrogation, he trained for the rest of the day. The thing that he didn't expect was that his sparring partner was going to be Scyther. That night Max went to sleep while thinking about all the times that he felt he was going to lose his head and about what his future plans were going to be like.
