Reborn Into Pokémon With An Odd System

They waited for about an hour until the purple-haired assassin made herself visible and picked up a soda from the drinks that he had bought out.

Lance looked at her and was about to open his mouth but Serenity gave a short nod and took a sip of her soda, "It's done, the man will not be bothering us. Unfortunately, he had a 'car accident' as he was making his way to a woman who he said was to blame for all that happened."

Max and the blue-haired servant looked at each other knowing exactly who that was. "Was he going after her himself or did he also call for people to help him?"

Serenity shook her head and reached out for some of the ch.i.p.s that he and Lancer were eating "No he was going to see her alone. He had a gun so I assume that he thought that just him was enough."

Lance nodded, "Yeah that or the men we killed yesterday were their only minions and since he couldn't wait to let off some steam he decided that him alone was fine and didn't hire anyone else."

Max sighed "This just proves my hypothesis, there are probably several women dead cause of the bastard. If only we could finish off the rest of the family, the thing is if we do then we will have problems on our side. Besides they lost their methods of income, at least the legal ones that people know about so they should still be suffering quite a bit."

The servants nodded and Serenity brought out Houndour and began petting it. Max looked at her and smiled but remembered that they had something to do, "Hey Serenity we have to talk about something."

She turned around to face him "What is it, Max?"

"Well, you see the thing is that at the moment I can summon another Servant. Lance says that we should get it over with and know if the person that comes out can be trusted or not. I wanted to hear your opinion and make up our minds on if we should or shouldn't summon now."

The assassin began thinking about it and after a few seconds, she nodded her head "I agree with Lance it's a good idea to get it out of the way. At the moment we have the advantage of not being noticed. When we start doing what you're planning to do, we will be targeted by many and I would feel more comfortable if I could trust the person beside me and not have to worry about being betrayed. Also, there are too many regions for only the 3 of us, that's why we will need more people either way. The longer you know someone, the better you can coordinate with them unless you end up hating them that is."

Max heard the purple assassin and smiled "Yeah that's pretty much what Lancer said."

"Looks like it's decided but first we got ourselves a new company to look after, how about we go and say hi?"

The two servants nodded together and they all teleported to a nearby alleyway. As soon as they got there Serenity began disappearing but stopped when she heard him say "that's not necessary."

She looked at him confused and saw him smile "You are part of our odd family, I don't see why we can't go out together in public. Besides I want you to start learning business so that you can help me out. If anyone asks who you are, just say that your Lance's apprentice and you are learning with me so that you can support me in the future. The only thing though is if you could change your hair color so that you are not recognized by your purple hair when we go out hunting."

Serenity nodded and turned her hair brown. Max gave her a thumbs up and a wide smile "You look great, like always. You can return to your original hair color when we are alone or traveling. She nodded and began following them.

They arrived at the entrance again and found the same guards from the other day. The men smiled and waved at the three of them. When they were in front of the gate entrance they walked forward and shook their heads "Nice to see you guys again, oh, and hello young lady. Sorry to tell you this again but we can't allow you to enter. Even if you could I would advise you not to keep insisting on making deals with them, this whole company is going to go down soon. The guys and I are going to start looking for work someplace else soon.

Max looked at them and asked "How come? You guys seemed okay yesterday, you were even talking about needing the job and talking like you were going to stay here long term."

They all sighed and looked down, the oldest looking one scratched his head and looked at the three of them "well like we told you yesterday, our manger isn't that nice, and to make matters worse he isn't that smart either. The only reason that this company is still standing is because of his secretary which did most of his work either way. That same secretary quit yesterday, she has actually wanted to quit for a while now but she knew that if she left the idiot would probably get another secretory that had more beauty than brains and that would mean everyone losing their jobs.

Max and Lance nodded since they both knew very well what the bastard was like. Thankfully it was all taken care of and no one would suffer from him again."

"How about working for us?

The men looked at him shocked and then at Lance and he gave them a small nod. After they controlled themselves the men seemed to be realize something and they looked at Lance and asked "How many of us could you take? There's three of us in the entrance but around the building, there are even more. Do you think that you could take some of them too?"

Lance shrugged and looked at Max with a smile. He gave the guards a thumbs up "We can hire all of you right now."

Once again the men looked at Lance for an explanation but all they got is a nod. They didn't believe the trio but they would be happy if at least some of them found a new job."

Max walked in front and pulled on the gate wiring "Do you think that you could open the gate for your new boss?"

The three men laughed and shook their heads "Sorry but that's a no go, we might hate this company's manager but our job is still to keep everyone away unless they are employees or people that the higher-ups tell us to let in."

Max nodded and pulled out a doc.u.ment from a yellow envelope and Lance took out the camera. They both showed the contents to the guards and gave them a big smile "Well as your new bosses we say that it's okay to let us in."

The guards looked at the doc.u.ments stupified, the one they focused on the most was the picture of Lance and the old man shaking hands while the doc.u.ment of power transfer was in the middle. The three men tried to say something but they couldn't, "but….how…...did …..you manage to ..... Become the owner in a day?"

Max laughed and looked at the guards "Using the power of negotiation, anyway can you open the gate. Oh and while you're at it, how about contacting that secretary, tell her that the new boss wants to propose to her something that she might be interested in."

The men nodded and opened the gate, another one entered a small building and began looking through contacts in his compueter. After looking for a bit he finally found her and called. "Hey Nyla, yeah it's me, Christian. Guess what,? you're not going to believe it. Do you remember that father-son pair that we told you about? Well, the thing is that now they own the company, they even have proof and they said that they have a proposition for you. Yeah I know it sounds hard to believe just hurry up and get here."

After the man was done they received a tour around the food factory. Max was kinda let down by the gloomy atmosphere but was happy to see that mostly everything seemed fine. They were led to his new office and there they waited for the red-haired woman that arrived after about 20 minutes.

When she went inside the office she was surprised to see Max sitting in the desk looking at some paperwork while the father was sleeping on the couch next to a brown-haired girl who was staring at the boy as he worked."

Max waved at her and pointed at the chair "Please sit down."

She felt weird being told to sit by a boy so young but she nodded and did as she was told. Meanwhile, Max put aside the papers that he was organizing and gave her a smile "Hello Miss Nyla, my name is Max, that young lady over there is Serenity who will be one of my secretaries in the future, and over there is Lance, my father. Don't mind him, he's been quite busy lately. Anyway, I've been informed of what you had to go through when the other bastard was here before and even though I had nothing to do with it I would like to apologize. I also want to tell you that if you come back and work for us you wouldn't have to go through that anymore."

Max then looked at the sleeping Lance and shook his head "actually let me rephrase that, you won't have to go through anything that bad since my father might give some light flirting but that's as far as it's going to go unless you decide to get a bit more serious."

Nyla just looked at the kid in front of her completely shocked, the first reason she was surprised is of how composed and professional he looked as he spoke. The second was about him knowing what she went through since she didn't tell anyone and just left saying she was sick of the manager. Lastly was the fact that he just said that his father might flirt with her, she expected him to be angry at the fact but he said it as if it was some sort of joke and his last statement made her feel uncomfortable hearing it from a child.

She nodded and looked straight into the eyes of Max and said "Before I can agree to come back I would like to know what changes you want to make to the company. If I like what I hear then coming back is a strong possibility."

Max smiled and scratched his head "Well you see from what I could see from our little tour and spending some time in the office, I found that there are some machines that need fixing. For example some of the coolers and grinders. I saw there were only a few being used and I asked around it seemed like the others have long died. Then there are some sanitation problems that I spotted here and there.

"As for what I found out in the office, it looks like our popularity has taken a hit and people don't buy the food as much as they used to before. I can take care of this since I have a friend that wants to become a pokémon breeder and it so happens that he has some recipes that have surprised some pretty famous people. Lastly, it looks like all of you are being underpaid 3 dollars each hour and I would like to fix that, to be honest, I would like to pay a bit more but since we just got here it would make things a bit unstable."

Nyla nodded, liking what she heard, and smiled at Max, stood up, and pulled out her hand for a handshake, "Sounds like we have a lot to do boss".

Max shook her hand and nodded. He stood up from his chair and pointed at it "Looks like this spot belongs to you."

She looked at him surprised and tried to see if he was joking but she couldn't see anything that told her he wasn't serious.

"Don't be too surprised, I was told that you were practically acting as the manager already so I don't see why not to make it official. You will be given a raise, some authority on doc.u.ments that you can sign but if it's something to major then hand it to my father and he will give it to me. Serenity will also show up from time to time and I want you to teach her the things she needs to know. Whenever I come here I will expect a full report on everything you did, does that sound reasonable?"

Nyla quickly nodded and was guided to her chair by Max since she was still shaking his hand. When she sat down and calmed down a bit she asked the million-dollar question "But do you actually have the authority, what did you mean that your father would pass you the important doc.u.ments?"

Max smiled and nodded "Well, one of the only reason that my father bought the company was because I wanted it to start learning about business. That means that I get to make all the decisions, now before you get scared know that I'm not stupid, at least not that much haha."

She seemed to be confused about something and when he asked her what was wrong she answered "Then If you wanted to have experience in business why not just become the manager while I stayed your assistant."

Max shook his head and pretended to yawn "You see being in business is great but it's too much paperwork. Besides you know the company better than me and this is what you deserve. I also have a pokémon trainer career that I want to pursue and I can just learn about the job by reading your reports so it's a win-win."

Nyla looked at him as if he were the most interesting thing she had seen and started laughing.

Since Max had already sent Serenity to take away all the cameras that were in the bathroom and he had wiped the videos from the computer he didn't have much to do.

He looked at her and smiled "Well we have to go now, there's somewhere else we have to be. Oh, and while I waited I ordered enough drinks and pizza for all 158 employees, have them take a break, and enjoy a little party."

As soon as he began walking towards the door, Lance woke up and gave the redhead a little wink before walking out. Max turned around and laughed as he saw the girl still stupefied "Oh and also the work environment is a little gloomy, we should liven things up with some music. I'll come back tomorrow with some money so that we can start making the changes."

They left the company but not before telling the guards to let the Pizza people in when they came.

The trio teleported back to their camp and sat there relaxing in the sun for about an hour eating and drinking. When Max felt both physically and mentally prepared he stood up and took a deep breath and began to start the summoning process.

Serenity and Lance turned into their servant forms and stood on either side of Max. He wasn't quite sure why but he kept having a bad feeling about what was going to show up.

The light appeared once again blinding him for a few seconds before it began dissipating and what remained was a servant completely encased in silver and red armor with 2 seriously big horns and a sword.

On his right side, he heard Lance whistle as he inspected the armor. To make himself less tense he gave a mischievous smile and looked at the blue-haired servant and asked "Hey how come you don't have armor like this?"

Lance rolled his eyes and shook his head "Just shut it brat"

They looked back at the servant and Max began to recognize the armored servant from Artoria's memories. He had searched more about the Fate story and found out more about her history and the person she had fought.

His fears were verified when the helmet started to come down and became part of the armor and what was revealed was the face that looked like Artoria. She did a complete 360 turn in slow motion trying to look for something and then came back to him and raised her brows "HUHHH a freakin pipsqueak, tell me that's not who my master is."

Lance and Serenity nodded completely understanding what their new comrade was feeling. Mordred looked at Max and gave herself a facepalm as her armor began disappearing leaving her in red and black clothing that was pretty revealing "How the hell am I, Mordred, the only rightful heir of Arthur Pendragon, King of Knights, supposed to get my wish and be able to pull out the sword of selection when I'm being paired to a freakin kid. How did he get involved anyway, bet he'll just slow us down because he won't want us to kill anyone. And speaking of that, why the heck did you summon me if you already have 2 servants? You could have left me so that I could be summoned by someone else, a true master."

The blue-haired servant smiled and gave Mordred a thumbs up "That's the spirit you tell him haha. Man I like this chick finally someone with some spunk"

The saber's body flashed and appeared next to Lance swinging at his throat, but the servant stopped her swing when his spear materialized and clashed with her sword. "Easy there, it looks like your sword has a mind of its own huh."

Mordred looked at him in anger as she said her next words "Never again call me that or I won't be able to stop myself from separating your head from the rest of your body."

Lance nodded "I'll try not to, just know that my mouth also happens to move on its own hehe."

The crazy sword servant departed from Lance clearly annoyed and looked at Serenity who had stayed quiet the whole time but gotten closer to Max after the little demonstration Mordred had with Lance.

Meanwhile, Max was freaking out by what Mordred had said about her wish. He had always felt bad about her background story but knew that she was a hot head and would be pissed when she found out that there was no Grail. At first, he wanted to wait a while and tell her after she got to know them but he knew he couldn't because it was kinda obvious this wasn't normal earth with all the pokémon running around so he hardened the little courage he had and began speaking.

"Mordred, I know a little about you since I read about your past. I think that what you had to go through was unfair and the fact that the king, your father, didn't want to recognize you as a son was terrible. I myself have gone through something similar since I was thrown away by my father and mother when I was a newborn, to this day I've never met them. There's a story that I want you to hear but I need you to stop yourself from freaking out is that okay with you."

She seemed to be angry at him for comparing her pain to his but nodded and laid down on the grass letting her sword disappear.

Max took a deep breath and continued "Well you see I was raised in an orphanage .... Then I found about you guys and how I could get my wish granted ...…. I died looking for any of you when an idiot drove his motorcycle into a ...….. I was reborn here with the ability to summon you guys, the thing is that there is, there is no actual war or grail for that matter. So the part about getting your wish granted, I'm afraid that it won't be able to happen at the moment."

She stood up and looked at him with eyes fired with anger "What did you just say? You tell me to listen to your stupid story where you try to compare yourself to me. Guess what at least not knowing your mother is better than knowing she's a witch that only thought about using you, and you won't ever have to hear your father reject you."

Max wanted to tell her that Artoria never actually wanted to reject her but he knew that defending her would only anger Mordred so he kept his mouth shut and slowly walked away from her.

Lance and Serenity put themselves between him and Mordred with weapons ready but Max told them to stop. "If you get in a confrontation it will only get things worse. She's not a bad person, she just went through a bad life. Once she was one of the best knights that followed the code but unfortunately, she started making bad decisions because of hatred."

"Shut up, don't act like you know me, or anything about my life. It's you who brought me here so you will have to pay and after that, I'll take my life and wait till I'm summoned again so I can finally get my wish granted."

Max sighed and scratched his head as he thought "Should I just use a seal to make her calm down? No, if I did that then she would just hate me even more."

"Mordred listen you can just take this time to train for a bit, since you don't have to worry about any other servants attacking you. There's also lots to see, remember this is a new world after all. Just take it easy for a bit and enjoy what the world has to give."

She ran towards him so fast that it looked like she disappeared and appeared next to him and punched him in the gut sending him flying into a tree. He puked out some blood and quickly began using healing magic on himself. He looked at where Mordred was standing and began seeing double.

He also saw that Lance was holding Serenity back from helping him.

After a minute, he started feeling better and stood up and looked at the girl who had just punched him "Ouch, that's some punch you got there, and that velocity was simply amazing. Still though would you mind holding back a bit? I don't really think that my body could take much more."

She glared at him with disgust "Holdback, you coward, if I wasn't already holding back then you would have been dead already. You sure like to spew a lot of nonsense."

"What can I say, when you live with that idiot for as long as I have, your mouth also begins to move on its own. Besides what good is it for me to ask you not to hold back if you are already at a level that I can't catch up to yet. How about just spending the time you have here on vacation. I know that you want to pull the sword but does it really have to be the only thing that you think about night and day?"

The more he talked the angrier she seemed to get, she disappeared from his sight and appeared behind him kicking his legs and completely breaking them. Max felt a pain that he had never felt before and was about to blackout but he willed himself not to and began using heal.

He was dizzy and his eyes were flooding with tears. In the middle of the ringing of his ears, he could hear Lance ask "Hey, brat, stop trying to act like a hero there's a reason all of us died after all. Are you sure you still don't want us to help?"

Max nodded and in the middle of his rolling around he was able to mumble "Yes...I'm sure…..she isn't bad….all she has to do is let go of her anger."

He gasped for air as his bones were beginning to be repaired and Mordred stepped on his stomach and watched his face "Why do you go through this? All you have to do is use a stupid seal of yours and make all of this stop. Heck, your servants are literally asking you to let them help so what is stopping you from just making all the pain stop?"

"If they attack then that means that one or all of you would die, either way, I would lose something, my family or a future family member. I know you have a dream and I am honestly amazed by your commitment, but have you ever thought that if you solely live to show that you're better than Author then you won't actually have a life? You said it yourself, your mother only wanted to use you for her goals so why are you still living her dream. Just stay with us for a bit and see what life has to give."

She stopped stepping on him and just stood standing as he struggled to keep conscious while he felt the pain of his body being regenerated. After about 5 minutes he was able to stand up and looked at her, "So what do you say? Do you want to show your mother that you are more than a plaything and that you can live your own life?"

She didn't say anything and once again ran towards him this time aiming for his head. He quickly teleported to where she had been and surprised her, however, she barely paused. Mordred quickly jumped off the side of a tree to change her trajectory and sent a kick to hit his c.h.e.s.t.

Max used his arms to shield his c.h.e.s.t and tried to teleport but the saber servant was too fast for him and the kick connected breaking his arms. He once again he was sent to crashing to another tree and dropped to the ground.

He started to heal his body as he began losing consciousness and whispered "Why do you have to be so stubborn?"

Mordred walked up to him and crouched "You're still alive? You know for a pipsqueak you aren't so bad, and you're also pretty interesting. Still, though you are funny calling me stubborn when you have suffered so much for someone you've never met. Tell you what, survive that last hit I gave you and I might stick around for a bit as a reward for your resolve. Still don't think that means that I'll accept that family shit you kept spatting out."

Max nodded and smiled as he whispered one last thing before he blacked out "I'd l…..ike…...that."
