Second Chance: Overlord

Chapter 23 - #22 Under His Tutelage

"Moonlight Battlegrounds...?" Xion asked curiously. It seemed like it wasn't just time that was different here.

The air was heavier, the wind sharp and Xion could feel threatened by the crushing gravity. These were just things he felt, but when he used his evolved eyes he noticed something else.

The Qi in the Moonlight Battlegrounds was too much. If Xion were to cultivate in such a place he might injure his Aura Pool that wouldn't be good. If Xion were to begin meditating in a place with such dense energies….

Would he explode?

"I know what your thinking, you are indeed talented Young Master…" Master Kon said sincerely as he chuckled a bit when he saw Xion's eyes.

"Those eyes of yours can see more than normal cultivators, I bet the current Master of the Moon Branch who has the [Starry Eyes] can't compare to your ocular abilities…." Master Kon said as he looked deep into Xion's eyes without blinking.

It was somewhat creepy for him which caused him to turn away his sight. Master Kon chuckled at this reaction, those eyes of Xion really interested him. Master Kon had never seen such powerful ocular skills.

But, as he looked closer he noticed a certain mark that identified them. The Iris is the moon and in the pupils laid the stars. Master Kon began to understand what ocular skill it was, he had seen it once before but not to this level.

"To think that a child would have the [Celestial Eyes]…" he whispered to himself as he decided how to begin.

The terrain in the Moonlight Battlegrounds was harsh and cruel. Many people failed to complete the various panels of exercises that Master Kon gave them. His last disciple was a rather powerful girl who became very important, and even though she was strong and talented she never completed the training regimen he taught.

"What now Master Kon…?" Xion asked as he returned his eyes to Master Kon. Of course this time Master Kon avoided the gaze.

"Do not call me Master Kon, Teacher is fine for now…" Master Kon said as he took out a piece of paper and passed it to Xion.

It was full with workouts that seemed normal. As soon as Xion grabbed it and memorized it he began with running through the mountain area of the Moonlight Battlegrounds.

"The height of the mountain is fearful and dangerous, having to run around it's edges to reach the top usually scares people shitless…" Master Kon began explaining as Xion ran through those small man made roads that wanted to collapse with every step.

"Light on your feet Young Master, that's the only way you can reach the top without falling, it's just a couple of thousand feet, nothing to be fearful of…." Master Kon chuckled as he told Xion one of the ways to get to the top without falling.

Xion was extremely talented in Master Kon's eyes. The way his disciple sprinted that mountain and reached the first part of the regime by reaching one third of the range. It was very good to see most people would be dying but this boy was just breathing a bit heavily.

Suddenly Master Kon reached where Xion sat at the moment in an instant. It shocked Xion, the gravity and air here makes it very hard to use full speed, but this Teacher of his did it without much effort. This old man was monstrous.

"Xion, there are many things for you to learn, but today you have excelled my expectations, most people who begin this training can't even reach half of what you have done today so I'll be extra diligent with you…." Master Kon said, his face was scary as he seemed passionate about it in such a dark way.

Xion felt like death was close…

...

First was a handstand, Xion had to balance himself in a handstand as he cultivated his Demonic Aura. For some reason even though it was hard to focus because of the strain, his cultivation base rose rapidly it was like nothing he had felt before.

Next was learning a breathing technique, it's not as easy as it sounds since he had do it underwater. How the f.u.c.k was he supposed to learn a BREATHING technique in a place he couldn't breath in the first place?

But as Master Kon explained by using his aura to create air bubbles in his nostrils he would be able to have oxygen. And as he went deeper underwater the pressure would usually begin to strain the body the deeper he went, but, he shrouded himself in a thin layer of Demonic Aura just as Master Kon explained and just like that he was able to endure and learned the Underwater Cultivating Technique together with the Demonic Breathing Technique.

Those two techniques helped Xion's cultivation base skyrocket. If people thought he was monstrous before wait until they see how fast he'll surpass the heavens now.

...

Three weeks passed as he trained those techniques and cultivation became easier and easier. Under Master Kon's tutelage, the system and Xion's raw talent his level of power increased tenfold at least.

"I can see that your growing in strength quickly, faster than I expected, tell me Xion, What exactly is your goal?" Master Kon asked as he seeped some tea.

Xion thought about the Master's question a bit. He wasn't sure what to answer since the Demon King wasn't a thing here. What exactly was his goal in the Wave of Life Sect and Rain? He wasn't sure, but all he knew for sure was that he wanted to become powerful enough to protect and help those who did the same for him.

"My reason for seeking power is to take good care of those who have helped me. I hope Master understands my reasons." Xion said as he bowed respectfully while sitting cross-legged.

Master Kon noticed that Xion was hiding something. He imagined there were certain reasons as to why Xion wouldn't tell him the whole truth, so he will not pry at all. Whatever Xion is meant to do in the future, will be the equivalent of a Celestial or Divine mission.

"I understand my disciple, I truly hope that you manage to fulfill all of your dreams. I have no doubt that you will accomplish your goals in the future, you will be one of the most powerful, now, go rest for today it's your first break after a month of head-on training…" Master Kon said sighing and thinking 'Even Demons need breaks…'..

"Yes, Master, I thank you for your benevolence, I shall leave first…" Xion said as he went outside, he wanted to get to see the Moonlight Academy as well, there was lots to explore.
