Soul Land: The Savage Star

Chapter 19 - 19: Graduation test

Six months later

The year ended and it was time for the twins' early graduation test. They were both ten years old now with Feng being a rank 32 spirit elder and Beibei a rank 23 spirit grandmaster

In this half-year, Feng got to know that his spirit's passive ability that helped with the health seemed to naturally cure sickness overtime...

Since they had to take the early graduation test, they had to get the approval of their masters first, who will follow them to the advanced academy, which they got.

Of course, these kinds of things wouldn't normally happen but both teacher Qian and dean Rè have a special status.

So now, all they had to do was to go to dean Rè's office to know what they have to do.

Once there, dean Rè didn't waste time and immediately got to the point.

" Leng Feng, Leng Beibei. You both represent spirit hall's might and pride. Graduating two years early is not something that is seen every day. The number of people who did so can be counted on one hand for each generation. You already proved to me, and your teachers that you are worthy of such prestige but the world doesn't know.

That's why, for your graduation test, you will have to go to the great spirit arena of suotuo city and earn the silver rank in two months' time both for individual battles and duo battles. Only then would you be recognized by not just the academy, but the whole world. "

Taking a short pause, she explained

" To earn the silver spirit fighter badge, you will have to fight an unordinary amount of battles because it takes a lot of points: Once you register, you will start as iron rank. Then, you will need to gain 100 points to advance to the next ranking which is copper. You can do so by defeating another iron ranked opponent and you will gain 1 point upon victory, though, the loser of that fight will also lose 1 point. Once you reach 100 points, you will be promoted to copper rank and every victory/defeat will yield a change of 10 points until you reach 1,000 points to be promoted to silver rank, where the points gained and the amount necessary for promotion increase by 1 order of magnitude again with every rank.

The system also has a streak system. For every 5 consecutive wins/losses, the amount of points gained/lost will increase by another order of magnitude compared to their respective rank.

That's the gist of it. "

Taking a short pause, she smiled kindly as she continued " I don't have any doubts about your chances of accomplishing this task. In fact, I would have asked of you both to become gold ranks if it were not for your ages. Once this is done, we will all go to the advanced academy where you will be trained properly as future spirit hall representatives for the continental advanced spirit master academy tournament in seven years. Or, for the nearer future, as substitutes for the one in two years. "

Then, placing a hand on both of their cheeks, she said " Now go, you may depart as early as possible so that you can take your tile and enjoy your stay at suotuo city. It's a very beautiful city. "

As she finished speaking, Feng and Beibei nodded, bowed and dismissed themselves.

They then went to the dorm to pack their things and leave. Though they didn't like this place very much, it was still a bit saddening to depart. Even more so since their friend Lu Piao often came to visit them here to play. They had quite a few fond memories here.

...

Suotuo city, a week later.

Feng and Beibei finally reached suotuo city. They went to a luxurious looking inn, knowing that all their expenses were covered by dean Rè who gave them enough to splurge for a few years without any care.

After they settled down, they went to the great spirit arena to register. On their way, they met with a weird group. It was a bunch of children two to five years older than them, accompanied by an elderly man who looked sick.

What made Feng notice them was the fact that a kid with bluish-black hair and said elder were looking at him intently in shock. It was because of his spirit's passive ability that they most likely noticed.

In fact, other people wouldn't really think anything of it when he was near them. They would just feel slightly more invigorated and that's it. Never had anyone noticed him, the cause.

Still, he had things to do, and fast so he didn't want to entertain them more than that as he walked with Beibei to the Colosseum. Once there, they registered and were told that they would fight the next day after being given their badges. As they were done, they went back to the inn while slowly walking and looking around to sightsee a bit. As they walked, Feng noticed a weapon store and thought it would be good to give gloves to Beibei.

They both fight basically barehanded but Beibei was not as sturdy as him. His fighting style included using his spirit's ice claws to fight in close range but his hands were very vulnerable. If it wasn't for his superior technique, he would have been wounded already.

As they went in, they ignored everything and looked at the gloves section, where seven gloves were demonstrated. Feng picked up a pair that looked well made but as he had no blacksmithing knowledge, all he could check was if it was sturdy by applying force on them.

But then, a voice came from behind " This one isn't very good. It's brittle, doesn't conduct spirit power well and is most likely too big for your hands "

Turning around, Feng looked at the one who spoke while putting down the gloves. It was the boy that he noticed earlier.

Seeing that Feng was facing him, the boy introduced himself with a smile" Hello, my name is Tang San, do you need help? I'm a fairly good blacksmith if I say so myself "
