Soul Land: The Savage Star

Chapter 22 - 22: Three weeks of "warm up"

After leaving Tang San's inn, the twins went to their inn to rest and then went to the Colosseum as scheduled. As their solo battles will be people of the same rank, they didn't think for one second that they would lose a single time. After all, to do anything to Feng, you would have to have the offensive power of a spirit king… Though to push him out of bounds is easier. Any spirit ancestor can theoretically do so… Theoretically.

As for Beibei, it wouldn't be weird to say that he was the strongest spirit grandmaster of the whole spirit hall. His fighting abilities after Feng went back with his third ring raised as much as the efforts he put in. As Feng's twin, he couldn't possibly allow himself to be useless. In fact, if Feng was a spirit grandmaster like him, Beibei would easily beat him, at least according to the colosseum's rules.

What they both looked forward to were the team battles. After all, they never had the occasion of officially facing opponents as a team until now. They could only train together at best all these years so now they would fight against teams that were used to fighting together. Not only that, said teams would be made of spirit elders who complement each other so they will be very interesting adversaries.

For now, though, they first had their one vs one match…

As they expected, it was very boring. Beibei had to fight against a fat roasting chicken that only knew how to trash-talk and Feng had to fight a spirit master from the evil-eyed tiger clan.

Beibei knocked out the chicken in only five hits and Feng just slapped back his opponent who tried to punch him recklessly. Said opponent didn't even try to use his spirit rings' abilities. Maybe he looked down on Feng because of his age? Or he was just overconfident. It doesn't matter, they were just small-time side characters anyway.

They then waited for their team battle but as they waited, the mysterious thousand hand asura, that the twins immediately recognized as Tang San, came to them. " Hi Feng, Beibei! Congratulations on your victories! "

Beibei answered with a smile" Thanks, though they weren't really fights. My opponent was... as weak as he looked and Feng's opponent was arrogant. Truly, if I had to choose, I would rather fight you. "

To this claim, Tang San only showed a wry smile. Ma Hongjun and Dai Mubai, while not as bad as Beibei portrayed them to be… certainly had their shortcomings.

Feng nodded and added " Yeah, from what you showed in that fight, you would be a good counter for Beibei. "

Scratching his head, Tang San laughed nervously " I don't think it would be a good idea to fight me. I don't see myself winning against Beibei "

Shaking his head, Beibei said " And I don't see myself winning against you. "

* The flying snow twins are called for their team fight! Come to the arena in under thirty seconds or you will be disqualified! *

The judge called them so they had to go. Though, their team's name really was pleasant to the ears.

" Well you heard him, we have to go, see you later. "

" Good luck! "

...

On the arena, two spirit middle-aged spirit elders showed up. They looked experienced and composed. When the judge announced the beginning of the match, the men both ran toward the twins while activating their spirit rings. They had three hundred years old spirit rings both and it looked like their spirits were the same as they both produced a spear.

Each of them went for one of the twins by swinging their spears in a horizontal manner, creating a wind arc that was supposed to push them back. Supposed because Beibei was able to take the blow well by positioning himself and Feng was just unaffected.

Then, they both retreated as they saw that their attacks didn't do anything. As they were internally screaming at how monstrous these kids in front of them were, the men separated, each took a side as they poked with their spears, creating torrents of wind that fusion and engulfed the twins... that engulfed only Feng who didn't bother dodging while Beibei using his second ring's ability, that was sending ice slashes coming from his claws but he sent them horizontally on the ground, creating an ice path that he slid on to dodge and continued heading toward the man on his side as used his first ring's ability to slash at the man's arm. This was enough to defeat him as the pain of having his arm frozen made him writhe on the floor. Beibei's first ring ability was quite vicious in a way.

On the other hand, Feng punched the man on his side but he evaded Feng's punch and counter-attacked, trying to pierce Feng's arm. Even though he didn't need to dodge, Feng still did it as he was repeated to multiple times to not be overly reliant on his toughness.

Then, they fought evenly for a while with both of them dodging each other's attacks before the man judged that he could bear to take one of Feng's punches to deal a blow... Fatal mistake, he was sent flying out of the arena bounds and knocked out cold.

This was a resounding victory for the twins' first team battle, which made the Colosseum cheer loudly " FLYING SNOW TWINS! FLYING SNOW TWINS! FLYING SNOW TWINS! "

Under the cheers of the spectators, Feng and Beibei headed back towards Tang San who was waiting for them so that they could try to advance with Feng's training. The earlier he was able to shrink his passive aura, the better as he wouldn't feel right if he didn't heal Grandmaster. His own respect aside, the glove that was given to Beibei and their budding friendship with Tang San were enough motivation to try his best.

Like the day before, he wasn't able to shrink his aura stably nor enough. Though, after repeating the exercise a few times, he definitely made improvements.
