Chapter 3 – Yandere and Part-time Job

Meigetsukan, a private tutoring school in front of the station, is my part-time job and my oasis. Despite its fancy name, it’s a small cram school, so both teachers and students get along well with each other. I appreciate the fact that the school isn’t overly focused on higher education courses.

“Sensei, do you have a girlfriend?”

“Hmm? Not at the moment…”

“Isn’t she the one with the long hair who often comes when sensei finishes work?”

“That’s a youkai or a vengeful spirit of some kind, so no, she’s definitely not my girlfriend.”

“Hmm… I guess there’s a lot going on with adults too… So what’s the answer to question 4?”

“I won’t tell you!”

Tilting her head, Mina gave a childish smile. I wonder how much of this is calculated by her. But nowadays, elementary school students are intelligent, or more like they’re more mature…and they’re likely to get into a lot more things. I think she simply wanted to have a chat to let off steam.

“Ah, sensei, did you see last night’s TV show? That number one comedy competition.”

“I’ll answer your questions after class.”

“How formal.”

“A teacher must be formal. I have to straighten up your hunched backs.”

“Hmm. I’ve always had a straight back.”

Sitting back deeply in her chair, Mina straightened her posture. She looks up at me with a protesting look.

Children are innocent and yet honest, and their contradictions are adorable. I hear the teaching profession is tough, but I think I’ll take the teacher employment exam.

“Okay, I’ve finished the questions on this page.”

“Ah, good job. It’s pretty good.”

“Of course. This level is a little too low for me, don’t you think?”

“But you got two questions wrong.”

“Eh, no way!”

After a fair amount of teaching and other casual exchanges, my part-time job is over for the day. I think I’ll go home after helping the principal with his work for a bit…

“Takenaga-kun, your girlfriend is here.”

“No, she’s not my girlfriend… I’m going to chase her away anyway.”

“Don’t say that. You can go home now.”

“Excuse me, principal. I’m going ahead.”

“Take care.”

Damn it, she came to my part-time job again. I just told her not to come here the other day. I looked at the entrance of the school building, and saw a happy-looking woman smiling and waving at me. Maybe I should go home from the back entrance.

“Ah, thank you for your hard work, senpai. What a coincidence.”

“It’s not a coincidence, you’ve been peeking into the school building… Do it again and I’ll call the cops.”

“If I’m sentenced to prison, please be my underwriter.”

“Ready to get caught… What’s with this girl, she’s invincible?”

“By the way, senpai, you seemed to be having a lot of fun talking with that girl, didn’t you?”

“No, she’s in elementary school, okay?”

“Thinking that no matter how much I approach you, and you’re still not falling for my advances, could it be that senpai…”

“Don’t raise false suspicions! We live in a world where that kind of thing is highly prohibited!”

“It’s fine. Even if senpai is a lolicon, then I will start over in the next life.”

“Ah, yeah… I’m tired, so I’m leaving…”

Even though I’m tired from my part-time job, I can’t deal with any more idiots. I walk with a downcast look on my face. What next life? How can we get to the next life in the first place? If I really was a lolicon, would she really…?

“Well then, senpai, I’ll see you again.”

“Yeah, don’t come back.”

“I’ll be waiting for you in the next life…”

“Stop that, you’re scaring me!”
