Chapter 32: Sister-in-law

“Then I will go first.” The boy turned to leave.
“Wait!” Xia Yao stopped him eagerly.
Xu Shizhou stopped in his tracks, a warm feeling spreading in his heart.
—Xia Yao wouldn’t just cheer for him, would she? It was way too corny.
“When the game is over, return the notebook to me!” Xia Yao reluctantly looked at it in the boy’s arms.
Fuck! He shouldn’t have any expectations!
Xu Shizhou turned back to the court again and glanced at the extra notebook, before rolling his eyes. Without this thing, Xia Yao would have to focus on the game!

As soon as the boy left, the quiet atmosphere around Xia Yao exploded once more and five or six girls opened their mouths simultaneously.
“Sister, what is your relationship with Xu Shizhou?”
“Sister, is Xu Shizhou your boyfriend?”
“Are you the secret girlfriend from the rumor?”
Xia Yao was holding a towel in one hand and a bottle in the other and felt she had turned into a water girl. Faced with countless curious gazes, she said: “We’re just classmates.”
The girls showed their disbelief but as they were about to ask more, the game officially began. They all dispersed but the girl sitting the closest to Xia Yao poked her and asked weakly: “Sister, can I hold Master Xu’s towel?”
“…”
Xia Yao squeezed the towel speechlessly and coldly answered: “No.”

With the blow of the whistle, the game started. Xu Shizhou was the main player of the team and played very well, and from all the duration of the game, the roar of cheering for him never stopped.
“Master Xu, come on! Cover him, cover him!”
“Master Xu, look over here! Ah, sisters, he looked at me!”
“Don’t be silly, he looked at me!”
Xia Yao applauded in cooperation and had to admit that the boy’s performance was really amazing. He was very skilled and even if the opponent was guarding, he didn’t panic at all. The basketball rotated in his hand, he feigned moves to confuse the opponent, his speed was as fast as lightning and from a flip of the wrist, the ball flew in the hoop.

After another whistling sound, the first half ended. The opposing team was already exhausted and there was no suspense on who would win this game; this first half was simply Xu Shizhou’s personal showcase.

There was an entrance from the audience to the court. Before the whistle even blew, the girls around Xia Yao had already pushed and shoved to get through, wanting to be the first to send Xu Shizhou towels and water. When the end of the first half sounded, Xia Yao glanced at the small gate and realized it was no longer possible to enter the court from there.
She took Xu Shizhou’s stuff and unhurriedly headed toward the court. With a slight leap, she jumped over the railing.

The girls were still squeezing at the entrance and no one managed to get in, but among the chaos, someone shouted: “Fuck, someone went in!”
They all watched a beautiful girl with a high ponytail slowly walk toward Master Xu…
—and Master Xu walking to her too!
All the girls were suddenly heartbroken.

“Water.” Xia Yao handed the bottle in her left hand.
“Towel.” She gave him the towel in her right hand.
Xu Shizhou didn’t believe she could find a way through the crowd and had wanted to go see her directly. Unexpectedly, Xia Yao had descended from the sky, as if she couldn’t wait to see him.
The boy took the water which still had the warmth of the girl’s hand and drank a bit. Xia Yao was still holding the towel and seeing Xu Shizhou didn’t mean to take it at all, she tilted her head and reiterated: “Your towel.”
Xu Shizhou squeezed the empty bottle flat and the corners of his mouth curled.
“Wipe it for me.”
He bent down to make sure Xia Yao could rub his forehead without standing on tiptoe, and the girl frowned, feeling that his request was simply absurd.
She flipped her wrist and the towel was thrown on his face: “You have hands, do it yourself.”

The towel landed on Xu Shizhou’s face, momentarily covering his dark face. He dried at random and heard the girl’s voice.
Xia Yao waved her hand: “I’ll leave now.”
The boy took the towel off and wanted to stop her, but before he could speak, Xia Yao turned her head again and added: “Good luck!”
No one had ever dared throw a towel at him before, let alone flee after that. But Xia Yao did.
And weirdly enough, Xu Shizhou happened to like how she acted with him very much. The boy suddenly laughed and walked back to his teammates.
Good luck!

The second half of the game had no suspense. The opposing team looked disheveled and had already given up. Xia Yao was holding her cheek as she watched and the curious girls around her were frightened by her aura.
They had originally wanted to ask more about her relationship with Master Xu but after the annoyed Xia Yao had told them to be quiet, the girls had been too surprised to say more.
—Wasn’t her aura very similar to Master Xu’s?

At the end of the game, a few courageous girls watched Xia Yao’s handsome jump over the railing and many tried to imitate her in vain. Xia Yao shook her head, put on her earphones, and with her bag on her back, she jumped on the court to go get her notebook back.
There were still a lot of spectators trying to squeeze themselves there and Xu Shizhou was celebrating with his teammates. He glanced at the audience and the person he was looking for was no longer seated.
“Is this beauty our sister-in-law?” One of his teammates smiled cheekily and hit Xu Shizhou’s shoulder.
Xu Shizhou, with a rare lowered head, replied: “Soon.”
“There is still a woman our Master Xu cannot handle!” The teammate shook his head, “But you haven’t had a girlfriend in so long, I really thought you were gay. Guess you aren’t!”
Xu Shizhou rolled his eyes and punched his arm.
“Ahah, Master Xu is being shy!” The other boy chuckled happily.
“…”

Xu Shizhou was surrounded by his teammates and the girls trying to send him water. Xia Yao glanced at him from a distance but because she couldn’t see anything, she jumped on the spot and realized her notebook was not in his hand.
She walked around the crowd and found her things right away, resting on the bench where no one was. She opened her bag, grabbed the notebook, and threw it in it, all in one go.
Time to go home.
This action was seen by one of Xu Shizhou’s teammates who had come to get a bottle and he stared at her performance in a daze.
—So handsome! She must be the sister-in-law!
But before he could react, Xia Yao had already turned around and was leaving at a leisurely pace. The boy hurriedly pointed in her direction and shouted: “Master Xu, our sister-in-law is angry at you!”
—Master Xu had not gone to see her after the end of the game and had been surrounded by many other girls. Their sister-in-law must be jealous and irritable!

Xu Shizhou, who was bending over to tie his shoelaces, had been waiting for her to come to him and he quickly got up. He looked towards the door and saw the girl with the bag on her back.
Fuck!
He glanced at the bench and realized the notebook had disappeared.
Fuck!
He pushed aside the crowd with a dark face and ran towards the door. The air lifted the hem of his clothes, revealing distinct abdominal muscles.
“Xia Yao, stop right there!”
Xia Yao had just found a shared bicycle. She vaguely heard something and pulled off one of her earphones, before scanning the code and getting on the bike. She had watched Xu Shizhou’s game from start to finish, now she should go back to study.

***

The sky was light blue and despite daylight being shorter with the upcoming winter, the sun was still bright and shone on Xia Yao’s head through the window. The girl massaged her neck for a second and continued to write.
Class A had a lot more homework than Class F, the disparity was really between heaven and hell. Xia Yao was so busy, she really didn’t want the system to delay her study again.
[Please, show up in Class A’s classroom before 18:05 and be sure to complete the plot of “The sweetheart of the three big bosses”.]
Xia Yao listened to the mechanical voice but her hand restlessly kept answering questions.
[I should get another system, you really have too much influence on my learning.]
[…]
The girl added: [I would get a learning system. If you get me money every time I answer a question, with how much homework I write, I would soon become a millionaire.]
[The host dreams big.]

Today’s plot was actually not that bad; Xia Yao simply needed to study somewhere else after school and leave when her scene was over. Today, she just needed to push the heroine and be discovered by Ji Huai.
Alas, it was too boring. When could she actually make Xia Xi lose her memory? This way she could finally start the plot of moving out.
