Chapter 33: Let’s push the heroine

“Xia Xi, thank you so much for covering for me! Next week is your turn, I will definitely help you with the cleaning!”
Xia Xi smiled and softly replied: “It’s nothing, it’s nothing. You have helped me so much this semester. Go, your boyfriend must be anxiously waiting.”
Xia Xi sighed as she watched this friend leave. If it weren’t for this stupid sister of hers, would she fell to the point of having to please others? Before, her classmates were the ones fighting over to help her but now she had to take the initiative to help others with their duties. Hadn’t it been for the forum incident, this would not have been the case.

Xia Xi was in a daze and when she came back to her senses, both students and teachers were gone. The classroom was very quiet and the setting sun shone through the window, turning the beige table into warm orange.
She got up and wiped the blackboard clean, then looked at the duty book, only to find out she had to clean the ceiling too. The ceiling was cleaned only once a month and she had not expected she would have to cover for that too.
She wanted to go home, she missed her brother.

She picked up the broom and glanced at the empty classroom. Her eyes fell on Xia Yao’s desk and she stepped on it carefully. She jumped on it for a while and finally raised her broom and swept the cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling.
Her eyes were a little sore.
She was obviously the star of the school and she had so many friends standing by her side. Why was this country bumpkin so popular? Didn’t she just get first place? And why could she get it? Why did Xu Shizhou carry her on his back during the camping trip? And why did Ji Huai care about her so much!
She did not deserve it!
The corners of her eyes stung and she thought of the humiliation of being locked in the restrooms after the midterm exam.

Xia Yao ran a few laps on the playground and looked at the phone. She noticed the time was almost up and she slowly walked in the direction of the classroom with her hands in her pockets. The building was quiet and because she was in a good mood, she whistled along the way.

She recalled the plot of the novel. When the vicious female character had seen the heroine step on her desk to clean the cobwebs, she had felt dissatisfied. Angry, she had pushed the girl off, right when Ji Huai had happened to pass by. He had taught a lesson to the vicious female character and princess-hugged the heroine before they had left together surrounded by pink bubbles.

Xia Yao entered the classroom. She was not being discreet at all, but the girl standing on the desk seemed unaware of anything. Xia Yao tilted her head when she saw that Xia Xi just looked sad.
“…”
She walked straight to Xia Xi’s seat and jumped on her desk loudly. The noise was big enough that the other girl finally reacted.
“Ah!” Xia Xi wasn’t expecting anyone and she looked towards the source of the sound, only to see an extremely disgusting face.
“Xia Yao! Why are you stepping on my desk?”
“Oh.” Xia Yao moved a little, “It’s okay, I can wipe it clean later.”
“You!” Exasperated by her action, Xia Xi angrily pointed at her with her broom.
Xia Yao casually glanced at her weapon of choice and said: “I said I would clean it. You stepped on my desk too, when the time comes, be sure to wipe it carefully and not leave any shoe print.”

The girl holding the broom was stunned, she had indeed stepped on her desk first and she had a bad feeling: “What are you doing here!”
Xia Yao looked at her ugly face. She originally wanted to laugh but found out she couldn’t and said in a cold voice: “Xia Xi, I know you are instigating the Third High School’s sister group.”
Xia Xi’s mind went blank, how could she know? She had made sure she was anonymous when she had spread the rumors!
“You… What are you talking about?”
Xia Yao shrugged. She actually didn’t care much about this matter, the Rainbow group couldn’t beat her.
“You know what I am saying, sister. It’s only the two of us, why can’t you be honest for once?”
“… I don’t know what you mean!”
“Did you lose your memory or is your brain just that bad?” Xia Yao asked slowly, “You told them I seduced Xu Shizhou, aren’t you trying to have them beat me up?”
This incident had been inadvertently revealed by Red Hair when she had gone to sell the learning materials the next day.

What? Did she really know everything? Xia Xi was taken aback and finally reacted. She raised her broom and her eyes were fierce: “You both are in cahoots!”
Xia Yao tilted her head and found that the broom was a bit annoying. She moved her leg, kicked it away and the tool fell to the ground.
She answered: “No, they are just my customers.”
Xia Xi couldn’t believe that all the dark things she had done and hidden in her heart were exposed. She looked at Xia Yao and felt frightened for the first time. She couldn’t have returned to the classroom for no reason today, she must have some kind of purpose!
“What the hell are you going to do to me?”
Xia Yao raised her eyes and whistled: “I’m just warning you, don’t spread false rumors anymore. I have a bad temper and I liked to beat people.”

Xia Xi was startled and the scene of the girl beating up someone appeared in her mind. She frowned and looked at the broom that had already been kicked away.
She panicked and glanced at the empty classroom. If she was beaten here, no one would hear her even if she broke her throat screaming. Because of her fear, her feet became a little unstable and the desk shook violently.

Xia Yao looked at the situation. What was she doing? She hadn’t pushed her yet, was Xia Xi faking it?
She jumped off the table to take a look but when Xia Xi saw her, she shouted: “Don’t come near me! Get out!”
Her voice was terrified as if she was facing a villain.
Xia Xi watched the girl walk towards her and avoided her gaze in fear. But when she looked up, she found that someone was standing at the window.
“Help!” She yelled in panic and fell off the desk the next second.

Xia Yao was already very close to her and she could push her as long as she stretched out her hand.
“… Fuck.” She cursed discreetly.
Xia Yao narrowed her eyes and chuckled lightly. Instead of looking at the girl on the ground, her head turned sideways and found Ji Huai standing outside.
When had he arrived?
The young man was wearing a white and blue coat. His hair had been blown away by the wind, revealing his handsome eyebrows and his beautiful eyes.
From his perspective, it must have looked as if she had pushed Xia Xi off the desk; the plot had ended successfully!

When their eyes met, the teenager beckoned to her, his usual smile on his lips. Xia Yao was slightly taken aback, oddly feeling that he seemed to be on her side.
Ji Huai quickly entered the classroom and walked straight to her. As he was about to speak, a voice came from the ground.
“Ji… JI Huai?” The girl sounded soft and weak as if she had been crying, “Can you help me? I fell.”
Xia Yao looked down at her. She had been silent since her fall but must have really wanted someone to help her get up. This heroine was really funny.

Ji Huai seemed to realize someone else was there. He lowered his eyes and looked at the crying and aggrieved girl on the ground, with a gaze full of expectation. Unfortunately, he wasn’t so kind.
He looked away, his eyes fell on Xia Yao instead and he asked: “Going home? I will take you back.”
Xia Yao was startled, he wasn’t helping the white lotus? Forget it, it didn’t matter.
“Yes. Oh wait, I will wipe the desk first.” She pointed at the dirty table and as soon as she finished speaking, a pure white handkerchief appeared in front of her, held by the young man’s fair and slender fingers.
“What happened?”
The table didn’t look as if it had been stepped on but as if someone had danced on it. Hearing his question, even though Xia Xi was annoyed by the whole situation, she sobbed in a low voice.
“Ji Huai, don’t blame my sister, I accidentally fell down.” She added, “I don’t know why my sister hates me so much, there must be some kind of misunderstanding about me… I don’t know how things turned out like this…”
Xia Yao felt irritable when she heard the fake crying coming from the ground. Her temper was indeed a little bad and she coldly said: “Shut up.”
She really wanted to kick the heroine.

Xia Xi was frightened by her voice and stopped talking, as her sobbing continued. Xia Yao silently wiped the desk but before she was done, the girl started her pitiful act again.
Xia Xi tried to stand up but she hissed under the pain: “Ji Huai, can you help me? I think I twisted my ankle… My sister didn’t push me on purpose—”
Why wasn’t he asking anything and directly standing by her side!
Xia Yao glanced at her one more time and finished wiping the desk, restraining herself from stuffing the dirty handkerchief in the heroine’s mouth.
But the silent teenager next to her couldn’t help but ask: “You pushed her?”
He had heard the whole conversation but he had not seen anything clearly. He guessed Xia Xi had fallen down by herself and Xia Yao had tried to help.

“You want to help her?” Xia Yao looked at Ji Huai.
According to the plot, Ji Huai was supposed to hold Xia Xi in his arms. But the boy looked as gentle as ever and she didn’t know if he was happy or angry.
Ji Huai seemed to hear the answer he wanted and he chuckled lightly, a bright smile blooming on his face. He gently pulled Xia Yao and said: “I am taking you home, naturally I will do what you want.”
—I don’t care if you pushed her or not, I will not touch her if you don’t want me to.
Xia Yao tilted her head in doubt and really felt that Ji Huai was rather unpredictable. She held the handkerchief and said: “Thank you. I will wash it and return it to you later.”
Ji Huai looked at her and replied softly: “Okay.”

After the two of them left, Xia Xi who was still on the ground finally stopped crying. She silently got up, rubbed her ankles, and dialed her phone.
