The Princess And The Demon

Kill Rima? what in the hell was this half witted mumbling about, one of their own? Henry was truly perplexed yet he didn't let his gards down for a second, the human soldiers already gathered around their king, their hands on their swords, ready to attack the bloody creatures who dared offend their king, the demons on the other hand were in no better state, growling discreetly at the humans who took a defensive post, each party had it own thoughts, none believed the other, none trusted the other, the gap between them showing, the long hostility toward each other noticeable in the air, and the cracks in their alliance growing bigger...

Henry knew how critical his situation was, he needed to protect and mend the alliance but without making any compromises, he did not hate the demons, and he knew they had every right not to trust his kind, but he couldn't favor them, he knew that demons considered humans as lowly weaklings, if the human king compromised to a mere demon, not only will the people who were not exactly sure of the young king rebel against him, but the previous assumption will become a solid proof, and he knew far too well that there is no alliance between parties that did not see each other as equals, he needed to deal with this matter before it slips out of hand...

"Are you sure it was me who killed your parent?" Henry asked calmly, the best way out of this is to reason things with the angry parties, they all needed to remember and understand the reason why they are here and the necessity of their alliance, if they had forgotten, the gods were planning to kill them all...

"Not you..." the demon replied in an annoyed voice before being cut off by Henry..

"Is it any one on this ship then? or in this army?"

"No, i killed those bastards long ago" the look on the demon's face was sinister as he remembered the satisfaction of revenging his mother...

"So some people killed your mother and then you killed them back, yet you still have the audacity to accuse me for it? and even attack me? " Henry's voice was neither angry nor loud, it was dangerously calm, like the calamity before the storm..

"Don't think i don't know what you trying to do" the demon was starting to lose his control, blinded by anger and irritated by Henry's tone...

"My mother, even though being a human, loved my father, a demon from the frozen edge, she run with him, my father sadly was not strong enough to remain alive for her, so my mother, with a child in her arms who was less than four, went back to the family who disowned her and tried to kill her, she had no other way to survive, but once she did, your kind, they did not show her any mercy, she was killed harshly i can still hear her screams when i close my eyes, i managed to run away, lived like a rogue animal until i was strong enough to get my revenge... "

" It was until Rima took the ice throne that i was given a home, i know how your kind looks at us, demons, i know you see us as monsters although it was your treason that made us this way, although you are as much of monsters as we are, it is enough to put a helpless prey infront of you and see what would the finest of you do to it, this alliance, it is nothing but a trap, you somehow bewitched our queen and convinced her to join you, i am sure you will betray her and her trust, kill her with your own hands and give the rest of us to the gods so they can pet your heads as the loyal dog you are... " The demon spoke without even stopping to take a breath, his eyes going dark with anger, and his bloodthirst tainting his youthful face...

Henry took a deep breath, refusing to lower his eyes that remained as piercing as sharpened steal "You keep on saying this, your kind, your kind, but from what you just said i can deduct clearly that you are our kind as well, your mother, was a human, your father was a demon, and these two found it on their hearts to love each other, to over come all of their differences and were able to love each other, for them, the past didn't matter, the hostility between their ancestors didn't matter, not even the fact that one of them was the other's food did not matter, but sadly it did not end well for them, and it was because of the same thoughts in your head" Henry gave the demon a pointed look, his voice then raised higher, as he started addressing everyone on the ship...

"I understand that you don't trust me, no one here trusts the other, and i understand why, for thousands of years we have suffered at each others hands, we lived in fear and lost our loved ones because of each other, and through the years, we kept on blaming each other while the real enemy, the one to really blame was safely watching while taking our lives from us, now i understand, this hatred and hostility did not come out of nowhere but it is time to let it go, we must let it go if we want to survive, now we know, who the real enemy is, and it is either we join forces and fight them together or fight each other and destroy each other for them like before, or just wait for them to destroy us, so what do you want? the past, or the future? and you better choose quickly because our enemy will not wait"...

"As for the ice queen" Henry turned back to the young demon "I think you should have more faith in the person who changed the frozen edge and gave you a home" with that Henry finally ended his speech, not giving them any obvious answers since there wasn't anything obvious in this whole ordeal, but he knew he was able to remind them all why they were here, why they were here together...

A few moments of silence passed before the demon retraced his claws, bowing his head to the human king "Our queen trusts you, and she is no stupid nor a person who could be charmed and manipulated, she is a good judge of character, if she trusts you, i think i can too" and with that he nodded respectfully to Henry, the human soldiers were amazed by their young king, who just avoided a massacre, they had more respect for him now, they saw him as a true leader, who did not just have his father strength and royal aura but also his mother's wisdom and long sight...

"Our lord trusts you as well, and i believe in that man, so i believe in you as well, King Henry"..

Henry looked around him, he was recieving acknowledgement nods from everyone on the ship, and using the mind link, every other soldier knew what happened, everyone knew that day including himself what it took to be a not just a king, but a leader...

Going back to their spots this time with hearts filled with faith, they managed to leave the fog area, not far, they saw a very small island with nothing but a rock in the middle, and five people around it...
