TTPC Ch. 7: Not Accused Unjustly

After Lin Ying made such a fuss, the guards of Green Bamboo Courtyard were immediately strengthened to the point that not even a housefly could fly in.

Lin Yi’s heart sunk further and further. The dense figures of people within ten meters outside once again showed that the Lin Family would in no way allow the marriage to have any mishaps and that he was sure to marry into the Pei Family, so there was no reason to struggle.

The next day, someone from the Pei Family came bearing a gift. It was a hairpin, a third-grade defense-type magical item, splendid and gleaming as well as flowing with spiritual power. It was said to be a gift from Pei Xuanqing, the bridegroom.

It was a local custom that before getting married, the bridegroom would gift something for the bride to wear on the wedding day to express his sincerity and for good luck.

Lin Yi couldn’t see what the hairpin looked like, so even if it was splendid and gleaming, he wasn’t able to admire it. However, it was flowing with spiritual power, so he could feel that its aura was out of the ordinary just by holding it in his hands.

Lin Yi couldn’t help but secretly feel it was a pity. If only the spiritual power of this magic item could be absorbed by him.

The person from the Pei Family even went to see Lin Yi in the Green Bamboo Courtyard. He seemed to be the Chief Steward of the Pei Family. First, he inquired about Lin Yi’s daily life and health, of which was answered by the servant beside him. Afterward, the steward said, “Our Eldest Young Master wanted to come in person but couldn’t get away from busy affairs, so he instead asked this lowly one to replace him in sending his regards. However, our Eldest Young Master said that he would most certainly come in person to receive your excellency on the wedding day.”

Receive him in person? Not only was Lin Yi astonished, but all of the Lin Family members present also seemed very surprised hearing it.

The atmosphere was a bit strange, but the Chief Steward seemed as if he didn’t notice. After saying these few sentences, he exchanged a few pleasantries with the Lin Family before taking his leave.

Lin Yi watched as all the Lin Family members in the room left following the Chief Steward, so he stopped putting on the false front of sitting upright and still.

What was this Pei Xuanqing’s intention in going so far as to plan to receive him in person?

Not to mention Pei Xuanqing’s inconvenience in traveling, there were still things to say about the concealed strangeness of the marriage. Judging from the reaction of the Lin Family members just now, it seemed that in their opinions, he, the ‘bride,’ was not worth being received by Pei Xuanqing himself.

Not a moment later, he was told that the Patriarch had summoned him, so the servants led him over.

After arriving, Lin Yi could hear Lin Jintian’s voice, and there were not only two figures in the room but many more. They were sitting on either side of the room, forming two rows of figures.

Lin Yi didn’t dare look too much and tried not to look at those figures with his eyes. He emptied his mind so as to avoid anyone making out that anything was different.

“Patriarch,” Lin Yi said, “Why has your excellency summoned this grandson?”

“The Patriarch hasn’t spoken yet. Is it your place to ask first?” Lin Jintian immediately scolded.

If possible, Lin Yi would have really, very much wanted to roll his eyes at him. He really talked too much.

Lin Yi paid no mind to him. Either way, the Lin Family dared not touch him now. If, by chance, the goods they traded were damaged, they would have no way to justify it to the buyer.

Seeing his attitude, Lin Jintian was so angry that he wanted to jump up and rain curses down on the spot but was stopped by the person beside him, “Enough, Second Brother, if you want to jump around, do it back within the walls of your own courtyard. Right now, we’d better listen to the Patriarch.”

The speaker sat in the second position on the left, and hearing his voice, he sounded like Lin Jintian’s eldest brother, Lin Jinfeng.

Evidently, when it came to facing Lin Jinfeng, Lin Jintian didn’t have any confidence and dared not utter another word.

This bastard could only pick and pinch soft persimmons and only dared to jump in anger at his own son.

“Since Pei Xuanqing is personally coming to escort the bride, you should be studious and learn marriage etiquette. Although you’re blind, you must not disregard this matter, lest you make the Lin Family lose face. For the next two days, I will have your Eldest Aunt teach you.” The Lin Family Patriarch said.

Eldest Aunt? Wasn’t that Lin Jinfeng’s wife, Shao-shi, the mother of Lin Ying, who came to make trouble yesterday?

Lin Yi’s thoughts turned. If Lin Ying could take advantage of the situation, it would be good if she could run over and speak a few more words.

“Understood, this grandson will study diligently.” Lin Yi said.

“Nn1, if there are no more matters, you may return.” The Lin Family Patriarch said.

However, Lin Yi didn’t intend to leave just like that, “Patriarch, may I ask if the person who pushed this grandson into the pond has been found yet? Who is it that wanted to kill me?”

As soon as he said this, the room fell silent.

Sitting at Lin Jinfeng’s side, Shao-shi’s heart abruptly skipped a beat, and her eyes glared sharply at Lin Yi, trying to make out something from his face.

Lin Yi sensed a sharp gaze looking at him, but his perception wasn’t keen enough to figure out which person present it was.

“The investigation is still ongoing. You will be informed if there are any results.” The Lin Family Patriarch calmly stated, “There’s no need for you to worry about this matter; nobody can harm you while you’re in Green Bamboo Courtyard.”

Lin Yi coldly snorted secretly. After so many days, the blind trash being pushed into the pond was just a trivial matter. The Lin Family Patriarch blotted out the sky with a single hand, hiding the truth from the masses within Lin Family. Wanting to investigate wasn’t easy, and now he was clearly covering up for someone and trying to fool him.

“This grandson has nightmares each evening and night, not knowing who wanted to kill him. This grandson can’t sleep well and is worried that nightmares in the Pei Family at night will disturb and upset the person beside his pillow. If the perpetrator can be found, this grandson may be able to overcome this internal anxiety and not make a joke of himself.”

This time it was not just Shao-shi who looked at him with such electricity; the Lin Family Patariach’s pressure, like a great mountain, crushed down on him with a loud rumble.

Lin Yi involuntarily knelt on the ground with a thud, his face twisting with pain from both his knees.

“Since you are incapable of controlling your mouth, there are plenty of ways at home to make it so that you don’t have to talk from now on.” The Lin Family Patriarch’s tone was flat but full of threat.

Lin Yi knew that his words might infuriate the Lin Family Patarich, but on one hand, since he now occupied the body of the original owner, he should avenge him. Even if he can’t avenge him right now, he could at least scope out the Lin Family Patiarch’s attitude. The person who harmed him either had status in the Lin Family or had a big backer, so knowing this, his search range would be smaller; secondly, the anger of the Lin Family Patriarch already made one thing clear; even if Lin Yi was important merchandise, the Lin Family wasn’t afraid to make him mute, which meant that the Pei Family wouldn’t care if he were mute.

How could a blind and mute person without a pharmacist’s ability go as far as to be able to cure Pei Xuanqing’s legs?

Lin Yi remembered at the time when Lin Ying came to make trouble. She hated him so much and didn’t want him to touch Pei Xuanqing, but still said two sentences, ‘You aren’t allowed to see him except for intercourse’ and ‘Even if you do have intercourse, you’re not allowed to kiss or touch him.’ She repeatedly mentioned intercourse. With Lin Ying’s temperament, it would be better to directly threaten him not to sleep with Pei Xuanqing even after marriage. Why did she instead mention it specifically?

So to say, having sex was an important part of it.

They have to sleep together.

Although it may be contrived, Lin Yi inevitably thought of a method that was often mentioned in cultivation novels he had read before that promoted the rapid development of the relationship between the hero and heroine——Dual Cultivation.

Lin Yi felt that he should have already grasped the main point. Even if it wasn’t Dual Cultivation, it would definitely be related to that aspect.

So the reason why the Pei Family didn’t care whether or not he could see or speak was that all they wanted was a function.

However, shouldn’t it be that the most reliable way of Dual Cultivation was the harmony of yin and yang between men and women? Why did the Lin Family choose a man like him? They didn’t think he was more suitable for this kind of thing just because he was blind, right?

And that Pei Xuanqing, while provoking a woman of the Lin Family, still wanted to marry him, a man from the Lin Family, just for the purpose of using one of his functions! The rumors saying that he was perverted weren’t accused unjustly!
