TTPC Ch. 8: Predicament

The Pei Family.

“How was it? Was the hairpin handed over to him personally?”

“Responding to the Eldest Young Master, the hairpin was personally handed over to Young Master Lin, and it has been passed on to Young Master Lin that your excellency will be going to escort the bride in person.”

The Chief Steward of the Pei Family, a cultivator at the peak of Spiritual Master, respectfully bowed his waist toward a person who was unable to cultivate and had bad legs.

“How was his attitude?”

“Very calm.”

Oh? Pei Xuanqing put down the brush in his hand and looked up toward the Chief Steward. His long, narrow, handsome eyebrows were slightly raised, his deep starry eyes spirited, hiding the interest that had been aroused.

The Chief Steward knew he was unlikely to change his mind, so he didn’t try to persuade him anymore, sighing softly as he asked to be excused.

After the Chief Steward left, Pei Xuanqing’s calm expression turned indifferent, his eyes deep enough that it seemed as if no brightness could pass through.

“Eldest Young Master, is there really any hope that the Patiarch’s injury will heal?” The guard at his side couldn’t help but ask.

“The chance is slim.”

“Then that method…”

The Pei Family also had quite a few people who were dissatisfied, but they were unable to move against Pei Xuanqing because he had a grandfather in the Spiritual King Realm, a father in the late stage of the Spiritual General Realm, a mother in the initial stage of the Spiritual General Realm, and even a guard in the mid-stage of the Spiritual General Realm by his side. He was an existence that the other members of the Pei Family had no hope of matching.

They had to depend on Pei Xuanqing and had no choice but to be deferential on the surface, but at the same time, they refused to accept him in their hearts.
