Chapter 12: Chat records.

Her heartache was beyond words. Fu Chenyan’s eyes flickered slightly, and he raised his hand, gently wiping away the teardrops at the corner of her eye with his fingertips. “It’s really nothing.”

He lowered his head and whispered: “Tian Tian, just give me a kiss.”

Ling Tian nodded and held his hand, her lips touched down, but she didn’t dare to touch his wound. She lightly kissed the area next to the wound.

“Get well soon.” She looked up at him, her eyes slightly red, and her eyelashes moist. She was too lovable.

Fu Chenyan’s throat tightened: “Tian Tian, could you please help me apply a band-aid?”

“Sure, wait a moment.” Ling Tian quickly got off the bed from the other side without broken glass and ran to the storage room to find the first aid kit. After a while, she came back with a cotton swab soaked in iodine and a band-aid.

Ling Tian: “We need to disinfect it first.”

Fu Chenyan raised his hand, and she carefully wiped his wound with the iodine-soaked cotton swab. After disinfecting the area, she tore open the band-aid and covered his wound.

She was very serious when doing all this, with her head lowered. Her slender eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings, causing a whirlwind in his heart.

The scar on Fu Chenyan’s ring finger on his left hand began to itch faintly. He caressed her cheek, and his thumb gently stroked her smooth skin.

He stared at her intently, his gaze deep: “Tian Tian, you’re still so good to me.”

His warm hand rested against her cheek, Ling Tian raised her hand and placed her palm on the back of his hand with a soft voice: “Husband, you’re also very good to me.”

Fu Chenyan smiled gently: “It doesn’t count.”

Ling Tian: “It doesn’t count?”

Fu Chenyan held her face, lowered his head, and intimately pressed his forehead against hers, his voice deep and low: “Tian Tian, I will treat you even better in the future.”

After coming out of Ling Tian’s room, Fu Chenyan didn’t return to his own bedroom. He went to the study.

While opening his computer, he took out his phone and dialed a call to Ling Wensen.

Close to midnight, Ling Wensen suddenly received a call from Fu Chenyan. Naturally, he felt anxious, and his voice was a little tense when he answered the phone.

“Mr. Fu, has something happened to Tian Tian?”

These past two days, Ling Tian had video-called him and Song Shuwan.

She seemed to be in good spirits, with clear and beautiful eyes, a shallow dimple hanging on the corner of her lips, and a radiant smile. It was as if she was still the little princess who was surrounded by love and oblivious to the hardships of the world.

Meanwhile, he and Song Shuwan were currently living in a two-room apartment that was smaller than the kitchen of Ling’s old house. They were also overwhelmed by company matters.

Seeing their daughter so carefree was their only comfort.

However, Ling Tian’s memories were still confused, and Fu Chenyan wasn’t exactly a kind-hearted person. It wasn’t possible for him to have no ulterior motives while letting Ling Tian cling to him and freely use his card.

They could never relax their hearts. Suddenly receiving a phone call from Fu Chenyan in the middle of the night, they were afraid something had happened to their daughter.

“Sorry to disturb you so late,” Fu Chenyan spoke gently with a hint of apology. “Tian Tian is fine, she’s already asleep. I need your help with something.”

Hearing that their daughter was okay, Ling Wensen’s voice relaxed a bit: “Mr. Fu, what is it?”

Fu Chenyan: “Please tell me the nickname Tian Tian used for her previous WeChat account. Also, please send me her WeChat profile picture.”

Ling Wensen paused for two seconds, uncertain, and asked: “You want to know Tian Tian’s previous WeChat nickname? And her WeChat profile picture?”

Calling in the middle of the night for this?

“Yes,” Fu Chenyan leaned back against the chair, pinching his brow. “Tian Tian wants to see the chat history between her and me.”

Ling Wensen knew that there couldn’t possibly be any chat history between Fu Chenyan and Tian Tian.

He was somewhat surprised and suspicious: “So, you’re planning to一”

Fu Chenyan: “Yes.”

Ling Wensen paused for a moment and said: “Alright, I’ll send it to you immediately.”

Fu Chenyan spoke warmly: “Thank you.”

Ling Wensen didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Faking chat records, technically speaking, posed no difficulty for Fu Chenyan. However, it required a lot of thought. When Ling Tian made this request, Fu Chenyan could have easily found an excuse to brush it off. Ling Tian would have been a little disappointed at most, but what difference would it make?

But to satisfy Ling Tian’s request, Fu Chenyan unexpectedly planned to fabricate their chat records from scratch.

Suddenly, Ling Wensen’s mood became somewhat complicated. Perhaps, the person who should say thank you was him. Thank you, Fu Chenyan, for taking such good care of Ling Tian’s emotions.

After hanging up the phone, Fu Chenyan added Ling Wensen on WeChat, and Ling Wensen sent him what he needed.

Ling Tian used to go by the nickname “Tian Tian Quan,” and her profile picture was a selfie.

The background of the photo was a garden, with a large expanse of endless summer blossoms. She wore a white French-style puffed-sleeve top, and her light chestnut fluffy curls were tied into a princess bun. A strand of hair fell on the tip of her nose, not only not affecting her beauty but adding a touch of playfulness and cuteness.

On the small white round table, there was afternoon tea arranged. She rested her cheek on her hand, looking at the camera. Sparkling little stars filled her almond-shaped eyes, and her face was filled with collagen. With a faint smile, the small dimple at the corner of her lips was her most beautiful mark.

Fu Chenyan clicked on this photo and looked at it for a long time.

This was her appearance before she met him. It was a bit regrettable that he couldn’t be a part of her life before.

As the night deepened, the sound of keyboard typing continued in the study. The light was on all the time until a faint white light appeared on the horizon.

The next morning, Ling Tian was awakened by her alarm clock at half-past seven. She knew that Fu Chenyan would go to the company at eight, so she set the alarm clock and got up early, wanting to have breakfast with him.

After Ling Tian finished washing up, she opened the door and happened to run into Fu Chenyan, who was about to go downstairs.

She immediately ran a few steps and hugged him tightly from behind, catching a faint scent of cedar on him. She felt a deep sense of contentment and happiness.

“Good morning, husband.”

Fu Chenyan turned around, his large hand gripping her slender waist as he planted a kiss on her forehead: “Good morning.”

He spoke warmly: “You woke up so early today. Did you sleep well last night?”

Ling Tian nodded, looking up at him: “Husband, did you not rest well last night?”

She noticed some redness in his eyes.

“It was alright.” Fu Chenyan embraced her waist and they walked downstairs together. “Tian Tian, have breakfast with me.”

A gentle ray of morning light streamed through the clean floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a soft glow on the food laid out on the table.

Ling Tian sat at the dining table, resting her chin on her hand as she gazed at the man opposite her.

He was dressed in a dark gray suit today, with sharp and distinct shoulder lines. The buttons of his white shirt were fastened all the way to the top, and his neat black short hair was slicked back meticulously.

Others would describe him as luxurious, but Ling Tian only wanted to describe luxury as him.

He lowered his gaze slightly at this moment and was spreading blueberry jam on a slice of toast for her.

His movements were unhurried, his finger joints clear as jade, slender like bamboo. There was a band-aid on the back of his hand, but it didn’t detract from his beauty in the slightest.

Ling Tian noticed that there was also a scar on his ring finger of his left hand, which seemed to have formed many years ago and didn’t look like something he got during his later years of comfort and luxury.

She really wanted to ask about it, but his status as an illegitimate child back then was quite sensitive. She was afraid that if she asked, it would stir up unpleasant memories for him.

Fu Chenyan handed over the toast with the spread jam.

Ling Tian held the milk and took a small sip, then took the toast and smiled.

“Thank you, husband.”

Every moment spent with her beloved was so wonderful. She was determined to wake up early every day from now on and have breakfast with her husband.

After breakfast, Fu Chenyan was about to go to the company. Ling Tian accompanied him to the elevator, straightened his tie, and reminded him, “Husband, remember to print out our chat records.”

“Don’t worry, once it’s done, I’ll have someone send it to you right away.” Fu Chenyan paused for a moment, looking at the girl in front of him with a gentle gaze: “I’ll take you out for dinner tonight and then we can go see a movie together.”

Ling Tian’s eyes brightened suddenly, a hint of surprise in her eyebrows. She tiptoed and kissed his lips.

“Then go to work quickly, I’ll wait for you to finish work.”

Ling Tian’s mood this morning was almost flying to the clouds, looking forward to seeing her and Fu Chenyan’s previous chat records, as well as the evening date with him.

After Fu Chenyan went to work, Ling Tian immediately went upstairs and entered the cloakroom to start selecting her outfit for the evening date with Fu Chenyan.

It felt as if it was the first time she was going on a date with him, her heart filled with joy and sweetness, hoping for time to pass faster.

Fu Chenyan didn’t make her wait long and quickly sent her the things she wanted to see, a thick stack of papers packed in a black briefcase.

Ling Tian carried the briefcase back to her room, eagerly opening it.

All the chat records filled nearly a hundred pages, neatly organized in chronological order.

Fu Chenyan had fallen in love with her during the school anniversary in November last year, and the timestamp on the topmost record displayed February of this year, three months ago.

At that time, they were already in the honeymoon phase, he would invite her to have meals together, watch movies, express how much he missed her, ask when her classes ended so he could pick her up…

She even noticed some casual conversations and sharing, for example, in the chat records, she had already started calling him “husband” at that time.

At this moment, Fu Chenyan sent a message.

【Sorry, I only found this much of the chat records. I couldn’t find anything further back.】

Ling Tian was worried that it might be inconvenient for him to listen to voice messages, so she quickly typed a reply: 【It’s okay, having this much already makes me satisfied. Thank you, my dear husband! I love you!】

She finished typing a paragraph and then sent him a heart emoji.

After a few seconds, Fu Chenyan sent two heart emojis back.

Ling Tian spent the whole morning looking at their chat records, reading it over and over again. It made her feel sweet inside, as these records filled in the missing details in her memory, making it more complete.

She and Fu Chenyan were indeed in a romantic relationship.

Their relationship was really good. With so many pages of chat records, they had never had an argument. What touched her the most was that one day last month, Fu Chenyan called her “wife.”

Seeing the words “wife” made Ling Tian’s heart race, her cheeks feeling a bit flushed. Sweetness swept through her entire heart.

She had never heard Fu Chenyan call her “wife” before.

Just looking at those two words on the screen, her heart was already pounding like a deer. If he were to call her like that in her ear with his low, mellow voice…

Ling Tian covered her face with both hands, feeling her cheeks become even hotter.

The author has something to say:

President Fu: Wife, wife… respond to me.
