Chapter 36: Souvenir Story

We went home without taking any detours after finishing our meal.

At Dorami’s suggestion, we decided to have some peaches. I just ate, so I didn’t feel like eating a lot, but—

“Let’s eat before it spoils! Dessert goes into a separate stomach~” (Dorami)

So she says, so I ended up peeling all of the peaches. The moment she saw the mountain of peaches served on a large plate, she let out a sigh in excitement, saying “It’s like a dream come true…”

“You look like you’re about to cry.” (Garnet)

“Dorami had been waiting for this for a while, after all.” (Jade)

It would’ve been alright if she took a few, but Dorami held back.

She said that she wanted to eat with Garnet-san.

“Dorami wants Garnet to feel her excitement too…!” (Dorami)

“Is it really that delicious?” (Garnet)

“It’s so good that it’s bad! Your cheeks will melt, you’ll lose your voice, and you’ll even lose consciousness!” (Dorami)

“My body will get all messed up.” (Garnet)

“Furthermore, if you take even a single bite, you’ll get addicted…” (Dorami)

“That depends on the person, really.” (Jade)

Garnet-san was a little uneasy about Dorami’s exaggerated praise.

“Dorami guarantees the taste! Hurry and eat~!” (Dorami)

Dorami gripped her fork tightly and urged her.

As soon as we all said our thanks for the meal, Dorami stuck a fork into the peach. Then, she speedily stuffed it in her mouth. I was worried that it’d get stuck in her throat.

“Delishous! Delishous!” (Dorami)

Bite bite!

Munch munch!

She ate peaches one after another without worrying about her mouth getting sticky.

“Garnet-san, please help yourself. These peaches are really delicious.” (Jade)

“I’ll have some.” (Garnet)

I ate a piece and relaxed my cheeks.

This feeling… It’s even worse than when I ate my favorite fish dish!

T/N: Worse as in the good kind, they’ve been using it a lot this chapter so I just convert it but I couldn’t convert this one. Like the English ‘bad’, JP uses ‘yabai’, but I think yabai is a lot more broad than English’s bad. It can be translated to things like dangerous, amazing, awesome, etc.

“How’s the taste?” (Jade)

“It’s good. It tastes sweet and fresh. Can I have another piece?” (Garnet)

“Go ahead! Please don’t hesitate and eat!” (Jade)

Garnet-san seemed to really like it and continued eating the peach.

I’d be happy if she appreciated my souvenirs this much too.

“Fuu~ It was delicious!” (Dorami)

“The three of us finished it all in no time.” (Jade)

“When Momochi grows up, let’s have a peach party again~” (Dorami)

“Momochi?” (Garnet)

“It’s the name of the peach tree that Dorami is growing.” (Jade)

“Dorami will show you!” (Dorami)

Dorami ran out of the room.

Seeing Dorami running vigorously, Garnet-san chuckled.

“It’s a bit fun, isn’t it?” (Jade)

“Yes. It’s been a long time since it’s been this lively.” (Garnet)

“I’m not bored since Dorami is with me. By the way, what do you do every day, Garnet-san?” (Jade)

“I work, and then I knit.” (Garnet)

“Knitting? What are you making?” (Jade)

“A sweater for Marin. I promise to make it for her when she came last time.” (Garnet)

“A hand-knitted sweater? That’s amazing!” (Jade)

“Alright! I’ll have to go and buy sewing tools right away!” (Jade)

Dorami ran into the room.

She placed a flowerpot on the table and introduced it.

I headed to the bedroom, picked up the souvenirs, and turned back.

Then, I placed the souvenirs on the table.

“These are the souvenirs from this time! Please take it!” (Jade)

“You’ve bought quite a lot.” (Garnet)

“I bought all of these after carefully selecting only the best ones… Would it have been better if I brought less?” (Jade)

Garnet-san shook her head and smiled.

“I’m happy that you bought them for me. The watering can, the comb, the muffler—I’ll be sure to use them all carefully.” (Garnet)

“T-that’s good… I was wondering what I was going to do if you didn’t like it…” (Jade)

“I can’t help but like it. It’s a gift from someone I love. I’ll treasure them.” (Garnet)

“Garnet-san…” (Jade)

I can’t believe she said that she loved me so clearly…

And that she would treat even my souvenirs as treasures…

While I was crying with tears of joy, Dorami—who was next to me—looked down.

She was in high spirits until a while ago, what happened all of a sudden?

“No… Dorami forgot to buy a souvenir for Garnet…” (Dorami)

“There’s something called a souvenir story. If you talk about your trip, it’ll become a souvenir.” (Jade)

“I want to hear about Dorami-chan’s trip, too.” (Garnet)

As we comforted her—

Dorami’s face brightened.

“Then, Dorami will tell you a lot~” (Dorami)

Dorami told her souvenir story while using a lot of gestures.

Her storytelling skills were outstanding since she usually used them to grab the children’s hearts.

We listened intently and before we realized it, it was already midnight.

Did she talk so much that she got parched? She yawned as she drank some water.

“Fuwa~ Dorami’s getting sleepy…” (Dorami)

“It’s already late, after all. Garnet-san, if you don’t get to bed soon, you might have trouble with work tomorrow…” (Jade)

“I took a day off for tomorrow. I planned to go out with you two.” (Garnet)

“That sounds nice! Let’s do it!” (Jade)

“Let’s go to bed for tomorrow!” (Dorami)

“Before that, we should take a bath—”

Ah, that’s right.

Garnet-san’s house doesn’t have a bath.

“Is the public bath still open at this hour?” (Jade)

“It’s already closed.” (Garnet)

“Then, you should take a bath in our house!” (Dorami)

Eh?! Garnet-san taking a bath in our house?!

“Wouldn’t it be a bother?” (Garnet)

“It’s not! Please, don’t mind me, go ahead!” (Jade)

It was originally a bathroom designed for Garnet-san, after all.

If the bathroom could talk, it would happily say that its purpose is finally going to be fulfilled.

“Dorami will join too~ Is it okay to use the souvenir bath salts?” (Dorami)

“Go ahead.” (Garnet)

“Yay! Let’s hurry and take a bath~! Jade, come with us~!” (Dorami)

“EH?! ME TOO?!” (Jade)

Don’t say something so ridiculous! I thought my heart was going to stop!

Bathing with Garnet-san, that’s definitely a bad idea!

Look, even Garnet-san is displeased—

“Are you going to join too?” (Garnet)

—not!

I-is she just playing with me? Or is she serious?!

W-which is it? I can’t tell. I can’t tell but, my answer is already decided.

“N-no, I’ll go in later. I’m uhh… I’m a bit sleepy right now.” (Jade)

I’m not actually sleepy, I’m wide awake.

Taking a bath together when I can’t even hold hands with her is just way too much.

“The bath is over here~” (Dorami)

Dorami took Garnet-san’s hands and led her to the bathroom.

I saw them off while my heart throbbed. After a while, I finally managed to regain my composure, but—

“My skin is all smooth! Bath salts are amazing~!” (Dorami)

“The temperature was perfect.” (Garnet)

When I saw Garnet-san after the bath, my heart started pounding again.

Mb for the delay. I got sick for a couple of days and I couldn’t translate a single chap. Wouldn’t have happened if I just stocked up chapters instead of procrastinating lol.

Anyway, according to my release schedule, this series will be completely translated in roughly 2 months’ time from the release of this post. So… late August. But, I plan to completely translate this by the end of July so I can get ready for uni again. Though, if I do finish early I plan on doing something like advanced chapter releases (sponsored releases or paywall-type stuff. I still have to work it out cause I don’t know what would work better as this isn’t really a series you rush. Completely optional, regular updates are still two days).

But, I still plan on translating without stopping and while I haven’t decided on a new series yet, it’s a good time to start thinking about it. I have looked into a few and already added them to my list, but I’ll put the actual poll when I’ve completely translated this one.

If anyone has any suggestions on a series, here are the guidelines:

No licensed (official English publisher, I don’t wanna get DMCA’d or whatever it is for WordPress).No last updated chapter within 3 months (unless the active translator says they dropped it)JAPANESE ONLY, I want to try my hand at Korean works too cause there are a lot of interesting ones I like but I’m still not super proficient in Japanese to learn another language. I can piece sentences in Japanese if the translations are wrong, I just need to read the romaji and search for the meanings, but I have 0 knowledge in Korean so…Raws must be acquirable and free (kakuyomu, syosetsu, etc.)If there are raws but they aren’t free, you can provide a copy (complete), or where I can find a copy, that’s fine too.Light novels or web novels, anything’s a go so long as they coincide with the above. Plus points if they have an illustration for the cover at least.No R18 cause I don’t have the confidence I can translate that.
