Where You Are

When I opened my eyes again I was laying down in a dark hallway, but it wasn't any hallway. I got up and saw classrooms. I looked at the floor, my backpack and my laptop were there my l.a.p and there was. I looked at my clothes. I was still wearing the red dress from the party which was dirty with feet marks and torn. I passed my hand across my face. When I looked at my hand I was still bleeding.

I touch my arm and pinch myself. It hurt "What?" I ask, to no one in particular.

I was at the party and suddenly I'm back home? This doesn't make sense.

Suddenly I feel electricity flow through my body.

I suddenly open my eyes as I take short breaths. I have to calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Once I control my breathing. I sit up. I'm in an open space, surrounded by people in hospital gowns either on bed sleeping or talking amongst themselves.

I look to my left and see Yu-Na holding onto my hand while she's sleeping. As I take my hand away from her grasp, she opens her eyes. Although her hair is a mess she looks happy.

"Hannah, you're awake!" she said loudly. She got up from her seat and hugged me "When you passed out in the car I thought you died. I had to call doctors and nurses to come and get you out of the car"

"Yu-Na" I said, "How long have I been sleeping?"

"Just about 10 hours" she said as she looked at her watch "The doctors told me you would be fine and that I had nothing to worry about, but I still wanted to stay by your side. I didn't want you to wake up all alone in an unfamiliar place"

I thank her for thinking about me but quickly worry about Min-Joon. I wonder if he's angry with me "What about Min-Joon? Does he know I'm here?" I ask Yu-Na.

"He's gone to get coffee" she told me as she points to the other side of the bed. On the seat next to my bed is a jacket. Min-Joon's jacket "He's been here with me all night. He wanted to put you in a VIP room, but I told him not to. I thought you'd be bothered by it once you woke up" she said.

"Both of you stayed here all night, for me?" I asked her. She smiled at me and nodded. For some reason I felt like crying and tears started to roll down my cheeks.

"What's wrong?" Yu-Na asked me as she patted her hand on my back.

"It's alright. You'll be fine" she told me.

Once I calmed down, I thought back to the VIP room. Although what she did was very kind, thinking about how I would feel, but those VIP rooms are incredible. I wouldn't have minded if I woke up in one of those again.

"Hannah?"

Yu-Na and I stop hugging. I turn my head and see Min-Joon holding two cups of coffee. His tie is loosened, his sleeves are pulled up and he looks sleep deprived.

"Hello" I said to him and waved. He hurried and sat down next to me.

"Are you an idiot?! Why did you call Yu-Na. She had to drive all the way to the party while I was just a few feet away. And you got in a fight! Are you a kid?"

Yu-Na placed her hand over Min-Joon's "She just woke up. She doesn't need your nagging this early in the morning" she took the cup of coffee from his hand and took a sip "I bet he nags you all the time at work" she grinned at me. She was teasing him.

"Yeah. He's such a bad boss" I play along with her.

"What's this? Why are you two ganging up on me? What did I do?" Min-Joon seemed really bothered by this. Yu-Na and I start laughing.

"Why are you so worried? It's like you want to beat my grandmother more than I do" I chuckle and look down, a bit embarrassed.

I do want to beat her. If we win the wager, Min-Joon will be able to choose Yu-Na without worrying about his grandmother. Of course, there's Ae-Ra and Se-Jin, but the grandmother in dramas is always the one to make the situation worse. It'll be good to get rid of her first.

"Don't worry so much Hannah. We're here because you're more important than a job" Yu-Na said. Her words warmed my heart.

"What's this? My heart just fluttered" I said with a smile on my face. Yu-Na chuckled.

"What? Really?!" Min-Joon asked surprised.

"It was just a joke" I told him "You really need to learn how to take a joke"

"And you need to learn how to stay out of trouble. Really…what kind of girl gets in a fight at your age?" he asked as he wrapped his arms over his c.h.e.s.t.

"Don't get too annoyed Hannah" Yu-Na told me "He's just worried" she got closer to me to whisper in my ear "He knows about the girls that beat you up. He doesn't know Ae-Ra was behind it though"

"What are you two whispering about?" he asked.

"Now I'm even more curious" he said.

The three of us kept talking like we've been friends since we were kids. It was so easy to talk to them I couldn't even believe it. I felt that Yu-Na and Min-Joon got at least a little bit closer with all this talking and joking around.

Suddenly a doctor with a nurse walked towards us.

"Miss Hannah E. Morgan?" the doctor asked. I was expecting an old guy, but he was pretty young and looked really good in his glasses. But obviously he would be hot. In dramas, everyone is hot, except some of the ones that provide comic relief. They are average.

"We've run some tests, but it seems that none of them can explain what happened to you" the doctor said. I didn't understand what he meant. I looked at Yu-Na and Min-Joon. They didn't know what he was talking about "We're going to need to run some more just to…"

I stopped the doctor from continuing "Wait, doctor. I have no idea what you're talking about" I tell him. He looks at the nurse. She shrugs.

"Miss Morgan. Your heart stopped when you arrived at the hospital" he said. Min-Joon and I looked at Yu-Na wondering if she knew. She shook her head and waved her hands.

Yu-Na quickly explained herself, saying "I thought you passed out because of the pain. I didn't check your pulse."

"Doctor what do you mean she stopped breathing. What does she have?" Min-Joon asked. For a second I saw him worried, but his expression quickly changed to a cold and expressionless one. The face he's at work.

I think about my family. Everyone is healthy. Even my grandparents who can die at any minute. Not trying to be rude but they are really old.

No, this can't be possible. First I have a concussion and now I have arrhythmia? Is this the part in a drama where someone has a life threatening illness? It's usually one of the main characters, not a complete stranger and I've only been here a week, how can I suddenly have a heart disease?

Min-Joon and Yu-Na look at me worried, to see how I'm taking this bit of news. I didn't panic and I didn't cry. I just sat there looking into space. I just can't believe I could die at any minute.

"Don't worry right now" the doctor said. Don't worry? I want to laugh. He just threw a bomb on me and is telling me not to worry "We need to run more tests to make sure. Right now, it's all just speculation"
