60. A Lifelong Friendship

Translator: Storm in a Teacup

As soon as Chu Jianmo asked, Helian Chacha noticed that there was a man in black jumping off from the roof and landing right on the man who had fallen down a few seconds ago.

That man struggled in pain and spat out a mouthful of blood, and he then passed out.

It seemed that the man in black didn’t really care about the person right under his feet, as he raised his head slowly to look at Chu Jianmo directly with his narrow eyes filled with coldness, “Chu Jianmo. Now I found you.”

Chu Jianmo didn’t seem to recognize that man, so he frowned and looked at him up and down, “And may I know your name?”

“What? You just killed one of my men yourself last night, and now you’ve forgotten about it?” That man turned to look at Helian Chacha and sneered, “How much longer are you planning to run for your life, Your Highness?”

Helian Chacha’s face suddenly changed because of the man’s words. Killing his man? Did that mean what had happened last night in that shabby temple was real?

Feeling that she got panicked, Chu Jianmo turned to be a little bit annoyed as he squinted his eyes, “So you are one of the Imperial Guardians?”

“I am the Deputy General of the Imperial Guardians, Zhuifeng.” Zhuifeng arched his hands to Chu Jianmo carelessly, “I am here to arrest Chu Jianmo and Shiao Qinyuan with the aid from the No.1 and No.2 detachments of the Imperial Guardians.”

Right after that sentence, over 20 people landed from the air and encircled them altogether.

Since those men in black showed up upstairs all of a sudden, those diners downstairs were all scared, rushing towards the door and leaving those maids shouting after them, “Come back! You haven’t paid the bills!”

Yet those people upstairs didn’t really care about what happened down there. Zhuifeng looked Chu Jianmo right in the eyes, “Mr. Chu, you want to come here to get the handcuffs yourself or you want me to do that for you?”

Chu Jianmo was indeed a tough guy. He gave him a disdainful smile, “Then you can have a try.”

All of a sudden, Zhuifeng’s face turned gloomy, and he took out his sword while staring at Chu Jianmo closely at the same time, “Guys, it took us so much effort to find them, so don’t let them run away!”

All of them took out their swords after that.

Following a “Kill!”, those 20 or so men in black rushed towards them all of a sudden.

Helian Chacha didn’t want to succumb at all. She was just about to start an ugly fight with them, but suddenly, Chu Jianmo dragged her clothes from behind and took her back.

Before she could realize what had happened, he had already thrown out a large amount of flour at those men in black.

“Let’s go!”

Then he carried Helian Chacha with both arms and jumped out of that place with his flying skills.

“Cough…” Those men in black started coughing because of the flour.

It wasn’t until the flour had all fallen down that they finally realized Chu Jianmo and Helian Chacha had gone away.

“Deputy General, they’ve escaped.”

Zhuifeng’s face couldn’t turn gloomier, yet he replied, “No big deal. This river town is so small, and they won’t run too far in the rain. Go get them quickly! We cannot let them run!”

“Yes!”

The quiet little river town suddenly was lit up in a second. Those men in black were parkouring up and down on the roof, and they sometimes even stopped to ask the passengers with portrait paintings.

While they were busy searching for Helian Chacha and Chu Jianmo, Chu Jiammo had already run to a quiet street that didn’t really have any passersby.

In the rain, Chu Jianmo ran to a dilapidated door with Helian Chacha, and he raised his hand to knock on the door, “Is anybody there?”

After waiting for a long while, they heard no reply.

He furrowed his eyebrows and tried to knock on that door again. But the door was blown by the wind that it opened with a creak.

They were stunned for a second, looked at each other, and then walked inside tentatively.

The courtyard was full of weeds, and although the houses were alright on the outside, the broken tables and chairs inside were either chopped broken or had a leg missing.

Nearly all the entire room was filled with spider webs, and one could leave a clear handprint just by a soft touch on the door.

After checking it around, Chu Jianmo said slowly, “It seems that nobody lives here. The rain is still heavy, let’s have a rest here.”

Helian Chacha nodded and wiped a fine stool clean, so as to sit on it for a rest. Chu Jianmo sat beside her as well.

The rain was still drizzling outside. Helian Chacha felt that her mood was just like the messy weeds in the courtyard, utterly perplexed.

“Jianmo, can I ask you a question?” She hesitated for a long while and then asked.

It seemed that Chu Jianmo had already predicted that she would say something like that, so he said calmly, “Go ahead.”

She turned around to look at Chu Jianmo and found that he was staring at the rain outside with a sad face as if he was worried that the Imperial Guardians might catch up with them soon.

Thinking of how Chu Jianmo had protected her back then, she finally forced herself to refrain from asking that urgent question, “Never mind.”

But Chu Jianmo was really worried about her when seeing her hesitating face, “What happened?”

“Nothing.” She shook her head.

Chu Jianmo didn’t want to just let it go, so he kept asking, “You look strange since like an hour ago. Are you… are you regretting running away with me?”

“No, I am not regretting.” She said without hesitation, “It’s just…”

However, the next moment, Chu Jianmo held her in his arms.

His strong arms snuggled her so close that her ears were stuck to his chest. She could hear his fast heartbeats clearly.

“Good that there is no regret. Siluan, just promise me that you will never worry about those things that don’t exist. Even if I betray the entire world, I will never betray you in my life.” He said firmly.

Hearing that, Helian Chacha looked at him in shock, “Jianmo, are you saying…”

“Didn’t I make it clear enough to you?” He grabbed her hand tightly as if he was worrying she would run away from him, “Siluan, let’s get out of Kingdom Ling together. As long as Ye Shengxuan is the emperor, we will never enjoy a peaceful life here. Come to Kingdom Qi with me. We can start over, shall we?”

The one you had a crush on actually liked you as well. Helian Chacha had never imagined that such a fairytale-like story would have ever happened to her.

She was so touched that she held Chu Jianmo tightly and nodded firmly, “I promise that wherever you go, I will follow you as always.”

As they were expressing their love towards each other, Chu Jianmo pushed her away all of a sudden and looked at the door vigilantly, “Someone is here. Let’s go inside now.”

Then, he grabbed her and ran inside immediately.

They hid behind the wall and listened carefully to the sound outside.

“Deputy General, someone said that he saw them coming this way. But how come we still cannot see them after chasing for so long?”

It turned out to be Zhuifeng and his men.

“Keep searching. We can never let them run away from us!”

Right after the talking, some footsteps were heard.

They lingered around at the door for quite a while before leaving, so Chu Jianmo didn’t dare to put downhis guard until he was certain that there were no sound out there. When he turned around to look at Helian Chacha, he found that she had got some dirt on the face.

He couldn’t help giggling and raised his hand to wipe off the dirt for her, “You little kitten.”

“I’m not a kitten.”

Helian Chacha pretended to get up, but she bumped into Chu Jianmo unexpectedly. He lost his balance all of a sudden and grabbed the hand of Helian Chacha unconsciously instead.

Bang!

When she finally came back to herself, she was lying on top of Chu Jianmo.

She blushed immediately. She tried to get up, but she was pulled down by Chu Jianmo directly as he raised his head right after that.

Helian Chacha felt that her lips were touching something cool.

Damn!
