Immortal Sword Artist

Chapter 13 - Nearly Lost My Life (2)

This particular storage ring was a high-level storage material of about 500-cubic meter's in size about the size of a mansion and it was mostly filled up with spirit stones. Spirit stones are precious stones containing spiritual qi in them and if there were no spiritual qi in ones surrounding they could be used to sustain a cultivators genuine qi.

The spirit stones in the storage ring were in large quantities. In general spirit stones were grade; low-level, mid-level, high-level, Top-level.

100 low-level spirit stones were equal to one mid-level spirit stone. 10,000 low-level spirit stones were equal to one high-level spirit stone. 1,000,000 low-level spirit stones were equal to one Top-level spirit stone. Actually Top-level and high-level spirit stones were extremely rare and hard to find in backward places like Hua Fen continent.

The storage ring was containing about one hundred thousand low-leveled spirit stones and a hundred mid-level spirit stones. In the corner of the pile of spirit stones were two neatly arranged jade boxes each containing five high-level spirit stones in them.

All the while he had been looking through the contents in the ring he didn't notice that he had broken through to the eighth layer as his body had been constantly absorbing spiritual qi on its own.

He brought a sword art out of the Ring and read it for some hours and tried to comprehend it he got it but he was not able to capture the essence of the sword art. This showed how talented he was in the aspect of swords.

Breaking through, expanded his meridians and they became larger and were able to store more genuine qi than before. He even reached the mid stage of the eight layer.

When he broke through he came back to his senses and he examined his body.

"phew!!, just from staying here I have broken through already and saved several days worth of cultivation", said Xiao wan happily. He was sure that he would be able to achieve the peak of the profound qi realm if he continued staying in here but if one does not have battle experience to temper his will and unleash one's potential then there is no use cultivating.

But even though a powerful cultivator should Battle with other cultivators and face danger, he or she ought to know the limit to which they can fight for survival otherwise one might just be digging his own grave.

"I think I might need to go and test out my strength with that monstrously powerful monster", said Xiao giving an appreciative nod to himself.

Since he had broken through he now had sufficient genuine qi to keep running for a day as long as he was not being pursued by someone stronger than him by far.

In a matter of thirty minutes he had reached the entrance of the cave and he passed through the formation that was preventing water from entering the cave.

As soon as he stepped out of the cave the felling of danger appeared once again but the threat it posed to Xiao wan had reduced drastically.

He continued swimming and when he was some distance away from he was suddenly attacked by a thick half-transparent octopus tentacle full of thorns.

He was hit in the back and flew out of the pond and landed forcefully on the ground. Instead of him to cower away in fear like some cultivators that would rather stay alive and be a little strong instead if facing danger and overcoming it, he tended to his injuries as fast as he could and jumped again into the water.

This time he was prepared for any form of sneak attack or ambush and he used his soul energy to observe his surrounding.

He was attacked again but this time he was prepared for it and counter attacked using the sword art he got from the powerful cultivator.

The name was 'Sky Shattering Sword art'. If he could master this sword art he would be able to break open the sky with just a wave of his sword.

He had only been able to comprehend three tenth of the whole sword art but what he didn't know was that even some tremendously powerful divine stage warriors were only capable of understanding one tenth of it and to get the first move on the first try was almost impossible but Xiao wan was an exception because lady luck was always by his side.

This showed how great his comprehension ability was compared to other cultivators even some saints might not beat him in comprehension abilities.

...

.......

He slashed the tentacle but that did yield him good results as he enraged the monster.

The monster decided to come out of hiding and attack Xiao wan with its full strength. The beast got angry because a puny little human dared resist him a mighty being.

The monsters body looked like jade and it was colossal in nature. The monster was called the One Eyed Blood Thorn Octopus. It had twelve tentacles, unlike normal octopus with eight tentacles therefore it was considered a savage beast.

More so this water beast was considered quite powerful for people of Xiao wan's level. Savage beast's were from rank one to rank ten.

It was said that some heavenly realm beasts that could turn into humans while some savage beast's that had a wisp of ancient bloodline in them could only turn into humans when that reached the quasi-saint but some more powerful one's might need to attain the saint realm. But if the process was affected during the transformation then that beast was bound to remain savage beast through out its entire life.

The One Eyed Blood Thorn Octopus was a rank nine beast and it was powerful. Compared to its size Xiao wan was as miniscule as an ant.

It was very large but it was fast.

In a span of two minutes it had attacked Xiao wan no more than twenty-five times. But Xiao wan was also fast and it was only thrice that he almost got himself killed.

Xiao wan cut off a weak tentacle that was approaching him and the beast backed away for a second but started attacking him once again with three to four tentacles at a time. The reason why Xiao wan was able to cut off a tentacle was because since he started fighting he had been looking for its weak spot and when he found it he didn't hesitate to injure it.

After fighting for two or so hours Xiao wan was getting tired moment after moment. A tentacle wrapped around his body and dragged him towards its mouth, Xiao wan struggled but his struggle was in vain and he got swallowed.
