Chapter 14 - Survival

Due to the wrapping of the tentacles around him and the thorn it continued to pierce into his body , his consciousness became fuzzy and he was rapidly losing it. By the time he regained his consciousness he was already inside the beast's stomach and his body was healing itself naturally at a speed visible to the human eyes. It was smelly and contained a weak but poisonous acid that could kill a powerful person in minutes or seconds when inhaled or when coming in physical contact with the skin, the blood of the person will get mummified up immediately after death.

'its after all not so different from normal octopus, it is just that the innards are as sturdy as steel and they have a poisonous qi protecting them', thought Xiao wan while comparing this octopus's internal organs with the ones he had seen on earth.

The main thing he needed from this savage beast was its core. Its core could allow him to advance to the next level and also help him in cultivating a skill he found in the ring.

It was a body art of the earth level but it was incomplete, and he had already reached initial success, if it was complete it could have reached the heaven level even possibly the divine level.

It was called the 'Five Elemental Cultivation Skill', it required the user to be conversant with the five elements and to be able to absorb them and use them to his own benefit.

It was even possible to create rivers, make earthquakes with a stomp on the ground, bring a barren area back to life, slash a mountain with a mere wave of the hand, wreck havoc with a hurricane.

The One Eyed Blood Thorn Octopus was a beast that resided in water hence it would have water element in it. This was one reason the other was because he could temper his will with the brutal and savage qi contained in it. If he had a strong will and perseverance he might be able to face untold hardship that even when some saints are faced with such difficulty.

This act has already displayed how highly he thought of himself.

He stabbed the side of the octopus but was replied by a repulsive force and he only managed to leave a shallow cut but that cut upset the monster and it started trashing itself around on the floor of the pond.

In the beast's mind it was wondering what it had eaten that caused it such discomfort. The more Xiao wan stabbed its internal organs the more it turned its body over and over again writhing in pain. As a result of the movements on the outside Xiao wan would sometimes lose his balance and some of the poisonous qi would get in contact with his skin and turn his skin purplish.

By the time Xiao wan had already stabbed a particular place multiple times the beast was at almost taking it's last breath. Xiao wan tore open the stomach but the octopus did not give up the ghost but rather it was curious to see what had been his source of discomfort.

Xiao wan came out almost unscathed except for his ruffled appearance and a few scratches it would be quite hard for someone of his level to detect that he had just fought a tiring battle, plus there was blood on his clothes and body but for someone far stronger it was a piece of cake all that had to do was check his flow of genuine qi and see that it is somewhat chaotic.

Xiao wan sat down cross-legged at the back of the body of the octopus and closed his eyes in order to ease his energy and take the carcass of the octopus, exchange its the materials for cultivation resources. Please bear in mind that Xiao wan is still underwater but since he had been fighting inside it he had learnt how to hold his breath for a much longer time.

When he was done, his eyes flew open and two rays of light shot out from them into the horizon. He noticed that a trace of vitality was still in the octopus and he went to check it out.

The monsters eye which was as big as a child's head was stared at him from when he appeared by its side up until he arrived at it's front with deep animosity in it.

Xiao wan laughed hard with his hands holding his stomach and said seriously, "You have a powerful vitality and I respect the fact that you had to go all out in your Battle with me but I'm afraid this is where your journey ends".

The surrounding water was already dyed red from the cut in the One Eyed Blood Thorn Octopus and more came gushing out as it struggled to get out of Xiao wan's reach but Xiao wan appeared right in the direction it wanted to escape to leaving it no choice but to want to self-destroy.

Golden light rays were appearing on its body and it grew bigger and bigger by each passing second, terror immediately appeared on Xiao wan's face and he pushed genuine qi under his feet to propel him forward but he was a little slow he was caught in the explosion when he was 30-steps away from the cave.

He was flung into the cave almost reaching the spirit fountain and the screen of light at the entrance of the cave shone with a bright blue light and blocked the explosion from entering the cave.

Xiao wan didn't have an incline to what was happening right now as he fell unconscious when he was flung into the cave. He was injured severely and even if one looks at him from afar the flesh his legs could be seen dangling and it was only attached by a few strands of flesh which could fall off at any point in time but instead of him dying he was radiating an intense domineering life force which could revive someone that just died.

As if the spirit fountain had its own consciousness it brought out a hand made of spirit qi and formed a cocoon that covered him from head to toe and lifted him gently in the air few meters away from the ground and dragged him into the fountain. He was in the cocoon for three days and three nights. Inside the cocoon his eyes fluttered and he showed signs of awakening.

The spirit fountain had been here for almost three hundred and fifty years so that amount of time was enough to to build up a simple consciousness.
