Half an hour running around the track, Mia was sweating profusely as her leg started to get wobbled. She had never ran this much in her entire life. She was lucky that her metabolism was high so everything she ate easy and quick to be digested and turned them into energy fast. She just had her dinner with Jane on the way back to their dorm after getting discharged from the infirmary so the energy from the dinner got her through the thirty minutes sprinting in the cold night air and now she was reaching her limit.

She then slowed down her pace to conserve the energy for more l.a.p.s hence widened the gap between Jane and her. She was behind Jane almost 100 metres and this kept increasing as Mia barely hang on the last bit of her energy. Her lung was pumping rapidly as to flow the oxygen to every veins inside her body as she gasped for air desperately. She felt aches especially around the joints on her knees and ankles when she lifted the legs from the ground to get moving. The gravity seemed to pull more weight down to her feet as the lower part of her body got heavier. It drained her energy and left her with an ounce of strength before collapsing onto the ground.

The rough particles on the ground somehow gave comfort tor her. At least, her sense of touch still hadn't lost. The run was exhausting to the extent she could hear the faint sound of sweat dripping onto the ground in hallucination. The sound lullabied her into a deep sleep however when she was about to lose the consciousness, a high-pitched voice from afar rang through her ears, "Heyyy you... get up! Continue running... We haven't said stop..."

Unbothered, Mia remained lying on the rough track with her left face touched the ground and the arms and legs were spread out comfortably. She exactly resembled a starfish. Her breathing gradually declined before returned to normal rate. The cold air turned refreshing as she bathed in sweats. The chilly air against her skin felt like she was being massaged. Oh god! All she wanted to just fall asleep.

Soon, a constant sound of tapping like someone was walking near to her erupted her process of falling asleep causing her to jerk her eyes open and flip the body facing the sky. The left corner of her eye noticed a figure came to where she was lying and that person was panting but not bad as she was just now.

"Lol... You just ran thirty minutes but look like you're dying now. I thought you gonna put up with them but now you appear to want to retaliate... Let me join you.. I'm not gonna tolerate with them anymore..." It was Jane who jogged towards Mia's direction. Jane then slumped her body down to the ground and stretched her body around. Her muscles got stiff because of the running.

"Are they coming to get us?"

"Nah... They're too lazy. Plus the curfew is about to start soon. Their aim is to get us punished by the elites on duty. With out current state, we may not be able to reach the dorm soon. Look! They already went back to the dorm..." said Jane as she pointed at those shadow moving further away from them.

It was almost ten when those five abusive seniors intruded their room and punished Jane and Mia with running around the track until they said stop. The curfew started at 10.45 pm and now got 4 minutes before the curfew and yet the seniors hadn't called them back to the dorm so it was easy to guess that they wanted two of them be found by the elites for breaking the dorm's rules. Shameless to the seniors for pulling this childish trick!

"So what now? Are the elites going to punish us?"

"We won't if we could hide ourselves from them but tonight we might not be lucky as the elites on duty are Senior Dean and Senior Jayden. No one can escape from their eyes no matter how good you are hiding."

"Isn't you and Senior Jayden are dating? Will he punish you too?" Out of curiosity, Mia spoke out her thoughts after witnessing Senior Jayden's caring towards Jane this afternoon. The pillow fight just now had bonded them together hence she was no loner intimidated by Jane's abrupt mood swing. She comfortably asked this to Jane, not afraid of the possibility Jane turned cold upon this question. Some people might find s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e to be asked with these kind of questions especially when that couple preferred a low key relationship.

Shocked with what she heard, Jane immediately brushed it off , "WHAT?!?! Where did you get that idea?"

"He obviously was concerned about you fell sick earlier this afternoon. He even calls you with sweet nickname, Little JJ.."

"Haha... our relationship isn't what you think it is. Yes we're close but not that close you know... It's complicated plus he's not my taste. How much more you can hold up? At least we could go find some indoor places to hide. It's better than lying at the open area like this. They can find us easily."

Although Jane wasn't hesitate to answer Mia's curiosity, Jane still felt uneasy to talk about her relationship with Senior Jayden. Even to Carolyn, she hadn't mentioned about this so maybe tonight wasn't the right time. Sensing Jane's discomfort, Mia didn't continue to probe into the matter any longer.

"Indoor? What's the nearest? I don't have any energy left. Maybe I should've gave up. You just go hide yourself. I can take your cover this time since I've bad reputation already. I've offended the most person I should've. What's worse than that?!" sighed Mia defeated. She already had messed up her life here so she didn't mind being punished but at the same time, she didn't want to implicate Jane because of her shortcomings.

Jane, a loyal friend wouldn't accept this kind of excuse hence she immediately refuted Mia's decision, "Hey no... A loyal comrade never abandons her teammate at all times especially in dire situation like this. We'll go through every thick and thin together...The nearest to this running track is the training hall. It's three minutes away. The elites usually stop their round at the training hall so we've still got pretty much times but the risk is that they may inspect that place more thoroughly. "

"But there is a slight chance that they are already lazy to go there since that's the last place. Let's go before our time is running out. You, carry me please." plead Mia as she shoved her limping arms to Jane. As Jane decided to shoulder everything with her, Mia should do the same. She felt more comfortable being around Jane as of this moment. The hardsh.i.p.s indeed tied them closer.
