Chapter 3: Me and the 23rd Chosen Hero

Has it already been a year since I was summoned?

After a year, the only that changes was my position, I'm no longer hero anymore.

Apparently I can't become hero because of this body or maybe because the 69th hero has been summoned.

There's a lot of going outside and the only thing I know was, the 69th hero was summoned.

The fact that the 69th hero has been summoned means that I'm already done for.

Am I going to die again with my sickness? Or am I going to get killed?

I'm going to die either way.

I don't think this country is kind enough to keep a useless like me. I'm definitely get killed.

Besides I had long given up on living.

Also, even if I get kicked out of here. I don't think I can survive in this unknown world. Adding the fact that I have this body, there's no way I can survive.

Looking at the blue moon outside, I suddenly thought that maybe the blue moon here is the earth.

I wish the moon was yellow...

"Hey! Aren't you a hero?"

In the quiet room, I suddenly heard a voice.

I look at the door but there was no one there, it was still closed.

As look at the window, there was a young man with a brown hair with green eyes.

As I gaze at the man without saying anything. The young man approaches me.

"Hey, answer my question."

"Who are you?"

For the second, I thought he was an assassin. But even if he was assassin I have no reason to resist. I don't have confidence to run away with this body.

Besides fate already decided it anyway. I'll gladly offer my life.

"Answer my question first. Are you a hero?"

"I was being called 68th hero."

"68th? Wasn't supposed to be 69th?"

"I was summoned a year ago."

"I see...."

"What about you? What do you need from me?"

"Ohh... Yeah, I'm the 23rd hero. I live in Japan around 2005?"

I'm confused. The fact that I'm the 68th hero means there is 67th hero around here in this world.

Also I didn't expected there's also another Japanese summoned here.

"What about you?"

"I'm from 2010."

As he look at me.

"Hey you stay still." As the 23rd hero says that, he put his hands on my chest.

"I see... Is that what happened."

As I look at him with puzzled look. It looks like he understands something.

"Mn? Oh! I just looked at your past memory" 23rd said that without care.

Well, I don't have embarrassing memories so I'm fine with it, but I think I should warn him for not saying a word.

"You know what, you're going to get killed at this rate." He said with serious expression.

"Yeah, I know. But I can't do anything about it."

Then he look at my eyes and asked.

"If you were cured, what would you like to do here in this world?"

"I want to die like camellia" I answered without hesitation.

I told him it's okay to be killed if its him.

Here in this world. Where I will die slowly, I want to die clean.

"I'm asking what do you want to do?" He smiles wryly at my immediate reply.

What I want to do....

"Is there anything you want to do?"

"If I'm going to be cured. I want to see the whole world. I want to die on a place I wanted to." As I spoke quietly, he listened to me without changing his expression.

"Then, I shall give you what you want. I have no longer reason to live in this world after all..... I'll give you my life." 23rd says lightly.

He will give his life to me? I couldn't believe what I just heard. But when I saw his expression, I couldn't help but to raised my voice.

"I don't want to sacrifice others life just to walk!"

"Well, I used the wrong word, my bad. But for now listen to me first. I'll tell you in order. After that, you're free to make your own decision."

With that said, he take a chair and sit on my side.

"Where did that chair came from?" There are no chairs in this room from the beginning.

He didn't answer my question and smiled wryly.

"First of all. I am the 23rd chosen hero, Tokito Kanade. I came from japan. But you can call me Kyle, I already abandoned my past name."

"I'm Sugimoto Setsuna." He already took a peak in my memories so it's kinda not needed right?

"What?" I asked. I only said my real name but Kyle look at me with suspicious eyes.

"Oh... No, I just noticed that it's my first time saying my real name to others. Also didn't they tell you your name here in this world?"

"About that, I actually lost consciousness after I got summoned so.... Uhh, did they say anything to you with your past name?"

But Kyle thinks like he understood something.

"I see...."

I don't know what's going around his head. But after we introduce each other, Kyle started to talk about himself.

The content was about what happened before he was summon, what happened after the summoned, about this country, and about the hero, who is summoned were actually like a slave in this world.

The one who knows that the hero is a "summoner" was only a few people in the countries in Gardir and Elana know about it. And the value of the heroes life is very low in this world...

"5th Hero?"

"Yeah..."

While talking to Kyle, I notice something. As a person Sugimoto Setsuna, it's my first time talking to a person.

As a year of living here, I've only talk to maids that don't reply to me. No one is interested to interact with me.

Because we were being treated as object.

While we were talking, such feelings overflowed.

For the first time coming to this world, I laughed.

For me he was my first friend. We only just met today, but I'm sure he'll just laughed with it.

My time with him is really short.

My first friend who gave me a future.
