Chapter 51: Unexpected Information

About two weeks have passed since then.

Morning.

“Sorry for the long wait!” (Kajimina)

“Dorami was waiting!” (Dorami)

Kajimina-chan came to our house.

She had something wrapped in clothes in her hands.

“I-is that the Dorami Sword?!” (Dorami)

“Yeah! It’s finally finished. I hope you like it…” (Kajimina)

“I-is it okay to take a look?” (Dorami)

“Of course, go ahead…!” (Kajimina)

I could feel Dorami’s excitement and Kajimina’s nervousness. Even I couldn’t help but be a bit nervous too.

Dorami excitedly removed the cloth, had her eyes wide open, and trembled.

“T-this is…” (Dorami)

“H-how is it? I think I was able to fulfill your request, but…” (Kajimina)

“It’s too amazing!” (Dorami)

“D-do you mean that in a good way or…?” (Kajimina)

“Of course, in a good way!” (Dorami)

“R-really?!” (Kajimina)

“Umu! The wings feel so realistic, it’s like they just come at you! The face also looks really threatening! And on top of that, the eyes look like they’re glaring!” (Dorami)

T/N: I shit you not, it says “The face feels like garururururu.” 顔もガルルルルルって

“I-I’m glad…” (Kajimina)

It was probably because she finally felt relieved, Kajimina-chan, her legs turned soft as she slumped down.

Then, Dorami showed me the blade with a smile.[1]

“Jade, look! It’s the Dorami Sword…!” (Dorami)

“It looks really cool, huh!” (Jade)

And it isn’t just flattery.

The handguard looks like unfurled wings, the face just screams “power”, as if it’s going to bite you at any moment.

The small red stones in the eyes are also reminiscent of the bloodshot eyes of dragons.

And, there’s the most essential blade…

“Hey, try taking it out.” (Jade)

“U-umu. Dorami’s pulling it out now…” (Dorami)

Surari, the blade made a noise as she pulled out the dagger. Dorami gasped.

“It looks so threatening…” (Dorami)

“It’s pretty sharp, isn’t it?” (Jade)

“This can definitely beat up the slimes…! Thank you very much for making such a wonderful Dorami Sword!” (Dorami)

“N-not at all! In fact, I’m the one who should be thanking you for entrusting it to someone like me!” (Kajimina)

“Kajimina shouldn’t refer to herself like that! After all, you made such a wonderful weapon!” (Dorami)

“Dorami-san…” (Kajimina)

Kajimina-chan is in tears.

Even the boss—who seems to be secretly watching from afar—is weeping at the sight of his grown-up daughter.

“Alright! With this, Dorami will definitely succeed!” (Dorami)

“I’m rooting for you! If the blade ever loses its sharpness, feel free to come over! I’ll sharpen it for you!” (Kajimina)

“Dorami will leave that to you then!” (Dorami)

They exchanged a firm handshake.

After paying the reward and saying our goodbyes, Dorami suddenly yelled.

“Let’s take a quest immediately!” (Dorami)

“Before that, let’s go to the apothecary. We need to prepare some wound medicine and antidotes for you.” (Jade)

“Ooh… It finally feels like Dorami is making her adventurer debut!” (Dorami)

Since there didn’t seem to be any objections, we headed to the apothecary run by Surin-san.

Once the pharmacy came into view, Dorami started running—unable to contain her excitement.

The last time she ran inside the store, she screamed, but this time…

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?! GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!” (Dorami)

…This time too?

Did she see some grotesque materials that weren’t there the last time?

Once I entered the apothecary, Dorami was on her behind.

And, in front of Dorami was an old woman with a machete in hand—

“Huh? Ku-san, is that you?” (Jade)

“It’s been a while, Jade-chan. Is this girl your companion?” (Ku)

T/N: -chan is typically used for girls (or little boys), no boy who went through puberty would typically be called that, but yeah.

“D-do you know her…?” (Dorami)

“She’s Surin-san’s grandmother.” (Jade)

“O-oh, so that was it? Dorami was so surprised…” (Dorami)

Though the misunderstanding had been cleared up, Dorami was still holding my hand because she was still scared.

“So, Ku-san, why are you here? I heard that you already retired.” (Jade)

“I came to see my granddaughter’s cute face. And since I already got here, I wanted to see if her arm is still as good as before but it was in a terrible state. I was in the middle of training her in the back.” (Ku)

I see. I heard that Ku-san’s training is pretty tough.

No wonder I kept hearing crying voices, “Hic~ Hic~” since I entered.

T/N: Love how even Surin’s crying sounds have an accent ~.

“So, why did you come here, Jade-chan? You don’t need medicine anymore, right?” (Ku)

“It’s not for me, it’s for this girl.” (Jade)

“Dorami’s making her debut as an adventurer so she wants medicine for wounds!” (Dorami)

“Got it, wait here for a minute.” (Ku)

Ku-san took some medicine from the shelf and handed it to Dorami.

“Thank you for the medicine!” (Dorami)

“You’re welcome. But, though our medicine works, don’t go overboard.” (Ku)

“Thank you for your concern!” (Dorami)

As I handed Ku-san the payment, she suddenly asked me something.

“Jade-chan, do you have any recommended traveling spots?” (Ku)

“Are you going to go traveling?” (Jade)

“It’s not like me to just sit still somewhere. I just wanted to try traveling around.” (Ku)

“I see. In that case, I recommend Laboon!” (Jade)

T/N: ラブーン (Rabu-n)

“Laboon?” (Ku)

“It’s Kamiesi’s hometown! Kamieisi’s paintings in his mansion are a sight to see…”[2]

“Heeh. So that’s where Kamiesi’s from. If that’s the case, I’ll try going there.” (Ku)

“Thank you for letting me know,” Ku-san said so I replied, “It’s no problem.”

“By the way, Ku-san, have you ever traveled to another country before?” (Jade)

“I’ve left the country a few times. Why?” (Ku)

“We’re actually looking for an adventurer named Onyx-san…” (Jade)

“Ahh, Onyx-san, huh? I haven’t seen him in a long time.” (Ku)

“You know him?!” (Jade)

“All adventurers who have eyes will come to our apothecary, after all. That kid was also an excellent adventurer. The last time he came to buy some medicine should be around… 12 years ago.” (Ku)

“He came here 12 years ago?!” (Jade)

“Yeah, he had a pretty rare request so I still remember it. Even though it was so hot and humid, he wanted to buy large amounts of frostbite and lava medicine. You wanna know what he told me?” (Ku)[3]

“What did he say?” (Jade)

I leaned forward and asked.

I didn’t expect any information because it was just a casual question but to think I’d get something so crucial…!

“That he was going to the Ice Kingdom.” (Ku)

T/N: Literally アイス王国 (Aisu Okoku)

“The Ice Kingdom?!” (Jade)

“Why would anyone want to go to such a place? What was that kid even trying to do?” (Ku)

“I don’t know, but I have to go to the Ice Kingdom too!” (Jade)

“Dorami too!” (Dorami)

Since we were enthusiastic, Ku-san then showed us some frostbite medicine, “You might need this.” (Jade)

Translator’s Corner:

[1] – Dorami’s weapon is a dagger (I had to use the process of elimination with the kanji). But, they refer to it with 剣 (ken), which is mostly used for sword, though it can also mean blade. I’m not going to change how Dorami calls it the Dorami Sword because that’s been translated literally, but I will change the references to the weapon with blade instead of sword.

[2] – Now we have a name for Garnet’s hometown, Laboon. Idk why the author said it here and not the earlier chapters.

[3] – I might know with future chapters but idk why they talked about lava medicine. 溶岩薬 (yogan kusuri).
