Walking The Jiang Hu

Chapter 3 - Mysterious Man

With Yip An's newfound strength, he thought he was the fastest mortal alive.

If Yip An then applied a movement technique to his game breaking speed then nobody could

catch him. If nobody can hit you then nobody can kill you. Simple as that.

All of a sudden he saw a white clothed man come out the side of a tree. He had a bit of blue cloth on the outlines of his robe and

He had a sharp lower jaw. He had the build of a weak 18 year old by the looks of it. The blue clothed man then walked towards Yip An with a nonchalant expression. Every single movement of his had a purpose. If Yip An were to thoroughly study the way this man walked then he would mostly likely would be able to step 15 steps in 1.

The young man looked at Yip An with a questioning gaze.

" name?"

"Yip Tian" ,replied Yip An with a composed aura.

"Have you seen a bright red light beam in the area?" , questioned the young man.

"Young master, I saw it quite not far from here" Informed Yip An.

The young man steadily held his gaze at Yip An and didn't break his gaze.

The young man disappeared from his initial spot. A massive wind gust then collected up where the young man had been and then he reappeared right in front of Yip An's face.

Yip An then stepped back 15 steps without hesitation to make space between them. He then rushed forward and unleashed a flurry of kicks unto the young man. But the young man didn't just stand there. He immediately dodged every single kick without blinking an eye. It was like nothing at all.

Yip An then started to add in some punches too and tried to grab the man and do some grappling techniques. None of his hits had hit the young man. It was all to no avail. Yip An then retreated back. He wanted to see how he fought, if he was only good at dodging then he would be a 1 trick pony.

Yip An then came back for another round and stomped his feet against the ground making a mini earthquake shaking the ground and making the senior lose his footing.

Yip An then kicked up a few blocks of earth and sent them flying at the senior. Yip An decided to un

if the mysterious man truly wanted to kill Yip An then he could do it with the flick of his hand.

It seemed that he was gauging Yip An's strength to see if it would be similar to someone who awakened divine beast blood.

The young man thought that the Yip An would've died from the pressure given of by the divine beast blood.

"It seems I've misjudged" , said the young man in a skeptical voice, "You can go now."

The young man then immediately blurred away into nothingness.

"*Sigh*", sighed Yip An

That was probably the most dangerous situation Yip An had ever been in. If that guy knew that he was the one who consumed the divine beast blood then he was sure then that young man would've probably taken him somewhere bad. Real bad.

Yip An then immediately retreated home. Yip An then realized that many more high level figures just like that young man would come to this area later on. He had to be careful and had to get out of here right away.

When Yip An finally got home he saw a few young men questioning what had just happened to his mother.

"Mother, what's going on?", asked Yip An.

"Just get inside, I'll be okay", replied his mother with a big grin.

Yip An then went inside and He was finally safe.

It seems like the news has spread really fast.

A couple months later here was a lot of rumors going around saying that somebody had awakened divine beast blood. If somebody had truly awakened it then that meant a formidable character is going to appear in the future. Otherwise that meant an old eccentric had awakened the blood. Which would be a terrifying thing. Just the thought of an already formidable figure consuming the blood was world shaking. If he were to fight someone of his cultivation then he could probably beat them blind.

It wasn't just all about yourself though. Most of your fights actually relied on your treasure because humans didn't have bodies of steel and were invincible. They were normal people.

Except they might be able to lift up a couple of tons though.

Yip An decided that if he wanted to have a chance at immortality then he would have to join an immortal cultivator sect. There were very few of them in the province, However he decided to join the Nine Paths One Truth sect. This sect majored in all types of spells. earth, water, wind, fire. You name it.

Now the reason why there are a lot of very strong mortals and very few cultivators was because of their talent. Everyone is able to become immortal. However, only people with a high enough talent could possibly become immortal. If a young man with trash talent started cultivating, he would improve at a snail's speed.

It was just useless. Life was just unfair. It was once told in legend that a boy with trash talent had transcended into the immortal realm once. However, that legend was just made up by high level cultivators to convince cultivators with trash grade talent to not give up. Although it was almost impossible to become immortal with trash grade talent, there were a few exceptions who became high level immortals.

Yip An decided to train his body even further to a higher level before he joined the sect.

There would always be an entrance exam to join the sect every 4 months.

There were 4 stages. The first trial was a test of strength, You had to hold a stone boulder for 10 minutes straight while standing on one foot.

The second test was a test that examine your will. In it you had to withstand the pressure of a high level immortal in the sect. This was the stage that most people failed at. The longer you withstood the pressure the more points you got and the harder the pressure they would give off. The third stage was your comprehension. Even if you had heaven defying talent and strength, you would have zero chance to become an immortal if your comprehension level was pitiful.

In this part of the test you would receive a low grade technique book and have to learn as many moves as you could in 2 hours. Nonetheless, even if you learnt all the techniques in the book, you would still fail if all your moves were all bad . It was the same as somebody asking you if somebody if they would rather fight somebody who has practiced 20,000 martial arts for 1 hour each. Or somebody who has practiced 1 martial art for 20,000 hours. It was no use investing time in something if you don't reap any benefits you know.

The fourth and final test was your talent. This was the stage that most people would breakdown and lose it. This stage was just dependent on luck. To be or not to be. It just depends on the heavens.

In this test they would bring up to a massive stone platform and have your hands touch a magical globe. That globe would determine your talent. Some people have actually have manipulated the way the globe works.

There was once a story of how a young boy who lived in a normal village in the mortal realm.

There were rumors of how he had instantly improved to higher cultivation levels. This boy then went to the number 1 powerhouse sect of the continent and went to the entrance exam. When he tested his aptitude. It showed his talent was trash. The boy insisted to try again. It showed his aptitude was trash and everybody was laughing at him. The genius had fallen from grace. However, it was all a charade, the boy believed them and never cultivated again.

People say that an opposing sect had planted spies in the sect and had them tamper with the globe when the boy came up. They didn't want the number 1 sect to receive another high level genius with potential to transcend realms. Couldn't they just test him on another globe? Nope, the globes were an expensive treasure and there would usually only be 1 globe per sect. This sect included. The Diabolism sect didn't want the powerhouse to receive a cultivator with godly talent. Anybody with godly talent is destined to become a true immortal

Yip An trained more and more everyday. Punching and kicking trees ,doing 100km runs, collecting herbs and having baths with those herbs which helped nourish his body. A couple of weeks before the test. The minuscule amount of qi in his body became more plentiful and felt his spirits heighten and light on his feet. His five senses were also sharpened greatly.

Yip An had just stepped on the path to becoming immortal.
