Where You Are

As I people watch I notice Min-Joon's cousin coming out of a black car, with a suspicious look on his face. He's entering a fancy restaurant right across the street. I still have my clothes from University on and my hair is a beautiful mess. The me right now can't go inside but maybe a lie could get me in.

I run across the street and tell the hostess that I came with the man that just entered the restaurant. I say that he left something in the car and I'm returning it. I put my hand in a fist and show it to her. She fell for my bluff and let me inside.

I go down a hallway. There are many paper doors. In each I can see the outlines of people and hear their chatter. I quickly stop at one where the outlines aren't moving or talking. I listen closely and hear Se-Jin's voice, as well as his father's, Lee Dong-Il. In drama's, seeing the bad guys at a restaurant means something bad is about to happen. Min-Joon is in the middle of reconciling with Yu-Na; does that mean I prepared the calm before the storm? I get on my knees and listen in.

"We must make sure that by the next meeting, you are chosen as the one next CEO. We just have to find a weakness and exploit it" Dong-Il says. Such a despicable man.

"How do we do that?" Se-Jin asks.

"I have a man following him. He went to the hospital today with Secretary Chang. When he came out he was holding a girl in his arms. He didn't get a good look at her and lost them at an intersection, but it looked like they were heading back to his place"

"A secret lover?"

"Whatever she is, we need her"

What the hell? They think I'm Min-Joon's weakness? It doesn't make sense, that's supposed to be Yu-Na. Then again, this could be good for them. While they turn their attention on me, they'll ignore Yu-Na which would give her and Min-Joon time to grow closer.

As I get up I lose my footing and almost fell, which made me squeal "Is someone listening?" Dong-Il asks. I was too loud. Darn this well-polished floor! Time to go. I turn around and quickly bump into that hostess.

"Did you manage to find him?" she asked.

I turn my head and see the door opening. I turn back and run "Miss, no running in the restaurant!" the woman yells behind me. I heard the loud bang of the door fully opened. Se-Jin definitely saw me.

"Go after her!" Dong-Il yells. I hear footsteps behind me. I'm a small girl and Se-Jin is a tall man. He'll definitely catch up. In drama's the person being followed tends to ditch their clothes and hide in plain sight.

Once outside I take off my sweater and throw it in the trashcan outside. Put my hair in a ponytail and run to the other side of the street. Thank goodness the light was red, but Se-Jin being right behind me, I won't be able to make it inside the tent on time. I slide to the ground, grabbing the bottle of soju I left and turn my head away from the restaurant. Acting like a just another drunk.

I wait about a minute or so and turn back around. Se-Jin is nowhere to be seen. He either ran in a different direction or headed back inside. Either way, they will definitely be suspecting that Min-Joon is behind this.

Min-Joon. How do I tell him that his uncle and cousin are plotting something? I'm not supposed to know anything about him or his family situation. For now, I should stay out of sight. Anyone could be the guy following Min-Joon.

I look inside the tent and see Min-Joon and Yu-Na talking and smiling. Seems I did good.

It's time to head back to Min-Joon's place. I'd take the bus, but I have no money and although it's a long walk, it's better for him to walk Yu-Na home rather than me. As I walk I untie my ponytail. Although it was a clever idea in the spur of the moment to take off my sweater, it's colder here than it is back home, going back to pick up my sweater from the trashcan sounds tempting but I didn't want to be judged by the people around me. Curse my fear of judgment!

"Hey little lady" I hear someone say behind me.
